Best and favourite restaurant ever (I'm 61). Excellent food perfectly cooked and presented. Brilliant service. We're due back in Quito in a week and will return. Highly recommended.

Very interesting and authentic food with attentive and friendly staff. Guinea pig a “delicacy” not previously tried. Highly recommend for a place to experience Ecuadorian fare.

Wide selection of food between 6 of us. Pork a bit dry , everything else marvelously prepared. Priced extremely well from American perspective. Delightful view over the plaza in evening.

We were 4 people. The waiter was very informative. Food was elegantly presented. Later a large group of 18 came in and they were loud and the waiter had to shout the explanations. But we were seated far enough away.

Nice spot. Casual and easy. something for everyone in the menu. Lovely servers. Our server took our order and ended her shift so it was mixed up and everyone was helpful straightening things out.

We loved our dinner experience at Miskay Restaurant. The service was wonderful and the food was excellent. There were so many great authentic Ecuadorian food and beverage choices. We really feel like this dining experience added to our getting to know Quito and Ecuador.

The food was very good, and the service was polite, friendly, and professional. If I was only rating on food and service, I would have given at least 4 stars. Unfortunately, a negative interaction with the owner left a bad impression. There were many tables of foreigners eating and drinking water served from a pitcher. We ordered a bottle of wine and asked for an additional glass of water as well. We were told we could not be served water from the pitcher but had to order bottled water. When I inquired as to why, the waiter say the owner refused to serve us water from a pitcher because "it might be bad for our stomachs" (i.e., it might be contaminated), and he insisted we order bottled water. When I asked why all the other foreigners were drinking water from the pitcher, he explained they were on a pre-paid package dinner plan (i.e., the restaurant had already received their money, so it was advantageous to serve them the cheapest water possible). When I started to explain the hypocrisy of this position, the owner provided one single bottle of water for the both of us and said it was on the house. I decided not to make a further issue of it, and we continued with our meal. In conclusion, the owner was either lying to me about the water being contaminated in order to manipulate me into buying bottled water, or he was purposefully serving contaminated water to the other foreigners to save himself money. Either way, this was unethical and unprofessional, and it left a poor impression on what would have otherwise been a very good meal and a good evening out in Ecuador. Too bad, because this restaurant experience could have been so good, had the owner had a little more professional integrity.

Great restaurant offering some traditional Ecuadorian dishes with an interesting twist. Good flavors, great service and pretty good value for the price. Would recommend. They offer vegetarian and gluten-free versions of many of their dishes.

Put his restaurant on our list of favorites based on the reviews, menu and website. Our hotel clerk even recommended it first, so we booked. We were very interested in unique Ecuadorian cuisine. It was within walking distance of our hotel, but as we got closer, we got uncomfortable with the neighborhood, which apparently was once the "entertainment center", but now is run down and seedy. Instead of being a street front facade, which we expected, it was a doorway in an old apartment building, and we had to walk up 3-4 flights. We almost turned around, now wish we had. The space is nice and clean and well decorated, but very plain. The woman who is the only waiter is very well spoken and a good salesman. However, they had no cocktails (which were on the website and the menu and sounded great) and almost no wine, only two by the glass. The lorca potato soup appetizer was very good, the cuy was very tasty but a very small portion, and certainly not enough to share. The goat stew was terrible...tough, chewy, perhaps undercooked, inedible. We complained bitterly about it, they refused to take it off the check. We watched an adjacent table come in, order, and leave without paying. I think they are on their last leg, coating on reputation, and serving almost exclusively tourists. There were only 3-4 tables in the whole restaurant. I do not recommend at all!!!

This restaurant did exceed our expectations. Presentation and portion size were both great. The restaurant is small and was very busy but luckily I reserved ahead of time. My only complaint was the service, which was very slow. Had different people taking orders, delivering beverages and food. Took a long time for drinks to arrive. Over all I would still eat here again.

An amazing find in Quito, Ecuador!!! The restaurant name is a combination of the indigenous words for food and culture, and this place lives up to its name. I had the Guinea pig and it was delicious. Others had goat, fresh fish and a seafood medley. Everything was wonderful. Add to that attentive staff and Ecuadoran ambiance and the package is complete. The only thing I did not like is that it is more than 3,000 miles from home.

Quiza iba con las expectativas muy altas pero aunque la comida estaba rica no me super me encantó para lo que pagué. El postre (pedi arroz con leche) estaba un poco seco pero lo bueno es que es abundante, como para compartir. El ambiente y el servicio muy bueno.

Miskay is a hidden gem! The food was great (especially the empanadas!) and the service was even better. Our server Paola was very knowledgeable about the menu and they easily accommodated gluten free members in our party. After dinner, Paola went above and beyond, ordering cabs for us and walking us a block away to meet them. Will be back the next time we’re in Quito!

The service was very slow. It took 75 minutes to get our appetizers of empanadas and soup. Plus another long delay to get our main course. We ran out of time and were unable to try their desserts.
