   I could not recommend this place more. The food was excellent and fresh, the servers were friendly and laid back. It’s a nice change from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and the prices are good as well.

   Absolutely amazing dinner. The clams in coconut milk and lemongrass are a must and the meatballs are to die for. Katie our server was so kind and attentive, even brought us a champagne toast for our honeymoon.

   Absolutely amazing meal! Between two of us, we shared 4 dishes, bread, and dessert. Every single one was unique and wonderful. The server was friendly and so helpful to describe each option, and the chefs are angels. My favorite was the Szechuan lotus roots, and my friend’s favorite was the sausage and clams. This was a local hit, and it was nice to get out of Waikiki for the evening, though a short drive back to our hotel. We will definitely be back.

   I was excited to dine here after reading several great reviews and recommendations but nothing was spectacular about the lunch menu. We had a sandwich and some fried rice. It was okay. Nothing to crave for. Friendly staff and great interior. Probably will go to a different restaurant than return to try something else on their menu.

    What a treat to come back after a 5-year hiatus and see that Mud Hen Water is as sublime as I remembered it. We savored every dish from the clams, to tofu, to black sesame gelato. Wow.

    We had a 5:15pm reservation so before the Friday dinner rush, so it was peaceful and quiet. Only a few small, intimate diners surrounding our table. The turmeric and gin drink is MINDBLOWING. Felt really special to have Molokai venison. Our server was super knowledgeable about the food and pairing suggestions when we were on the fence of which dishes to try. Cannot wait to return!

    We had a wonderful night at Mud Hen and enjoyed the Shared menu - servings were generous, and I think it says a lot that each person at the table had a different favourite dish. As a visitor to Hawaii, I appreciated the opportunity to eat excellent local food.

    Just love the food. Especially the use of local ingredients. Kalo Hash and Biscuits and Mayo gravy are lights out good. Problem is we return to the same dishes at brunch. Small but nice eclectic wine selection. Brunch at 930 with a light red is just awesome. We live in Nor Cal but work in Honolulu. This is a must go to for us.

    Interesting takes on Hawaiian food. Peanut tofu was understated. Cured amberjack was wonderful. Octopus roll was a nice take ona lobster roll (with pickled papaya to cut the richness). Chocolate brownie with black sesame gelato was delicious.

    Sadly overrated unwelcoming hostess server offered an amuse voucher of papaya but was pineapple food … well lets just say if the front of house people can’t describe it it should not be on the menu - management is in dire need of a change - we enjoyed 2 glasses of Chardonnay snd made our way home. Nobody asked us how or why we did not continue ordering - this popular place makes no sense whatsoever hostess please don’t cross your arms like an angry schoolteacher it is most unwelcoming

    One of our favorites. The Mud Hen breakfast is one of Honolulu’s best-kept secrets. Its lunch and dinner are great blends of local ingredients and flavors. Mud Hen is a hip AND welcoming place for a sampling of the finest of Hawaii—at a reasonable price.

    My new favorite restaurant in Honolulu! It's a bit off the beaten path, but worth the drive. The vibe is laidback, the service is extremely friendly, and every dish we had was creative and flavorful. I can't believe it took me so long to try this place, but now that I have, I'll definitely be back every time I come to town.

    I haven't been to Mud Hen Water in about a year or so. I was expecting the food to be good, but I wasn't expecting to be blown away. We ended up ordering the family-style menu where you get to try a bunch of different items and share. Some of our absolute favorites were: the Beet Poke, Pohole, Buttered Uala, and the Chicken Long Rice Crocquettes. Also the Pipikaula and Clams with the country bread was fantastic! The only dish we felt was good, but not outstanding was the fried chicken. The desserts were over the top as well. Well done Mud Hen Water for transforming local favorites into gourmet masterpieces! The service was awesome too and the food came out faster than we could eat it! We'll definitely be back much sooner than one year.

    MHW is such a unique culinary experience. We like to go with a group of 4-6 people so we can order everything on menu to share family style. Notable items: the Beet Poke, Chicken Long Rice Croquettes, and the Lau Lau. Start your night with any one of their masterfully done cocktails. If you can't decide... go with the "Vishnu's Vice". You will need to be creative on the parking but worth the work.

    Fantastic family style for 4 meal. Had opportunity to try a variety of the menu options. Service top notch and food even better. Everyone in party raved about the meal. While a little bit outside the main travel area still easy to get to and worth the modest extra effort. Will not be dissappointed with their take on the Hawaiian food experience 🌺.
