Since its beginnings as a local gathering spot over 35 years ago, Mustards Grill has blossomed into a destination for all who appreciate memorable food, superb wines and a warm welcome. Mustards food is Chef/Owner Cindy Pawlcyn’s mix of American regional dishes with global influences. The list of “Way Too Many Wines” represents the best from appellations throughout California and the New World.
Mustards is an American Grill, featuring flavors from around the globe. The wood-burning grill produces such favorites as Cindy’s famous Mongolian Pork Chop, Sonoma Rabbit, and the ½ pound Niman Ranch hamburger. The oakwood smoker fills the restaurant with aromas of BBQ baby back ribs, Wood Oven Duck, and our Oooeee Smoked Pork. Specialties include Seared Ahi Tuna on sesame crackers and Crispy Calamari tossed with curried slaw. The eclectic wine list features Way Too Many Wines from The Napa Valley, Sonoma, The Oregon, and Europe!
Mustards is always excellent with a great menu, great atmosphere and excellent service.
Being a Napa resident, we sometimes forget about the tried and true favorites, and had not been to Mustards for a few years! We were a party of 4 and all were super impressed with the service, food, & selections. We were celebrating 2 birthdays, and the staff made it special with a scoop of ice cream with a lit candle! Pricey, but worth it.
Service was personal, informational and fun. Wait staff took extra care to inform about wine and food pairing.
Food and service = rock stars
Delicious as always!
Food was great. Service was pretty poor...especially since there were several empty tables....no excuse for that.
We have lived here for 41 years and Mustard 's has always been one of our favorites. Cindy's Backstreet used to be our FAVORITE until some hamburger guy decided he needed an old, beautiful, bricked building to make desserts?!?! Anyway, Mustard 's best quality, I think, besides the food, is the service. None better. Absolutely. I turned a dish back one time, nobody 's fault, and my waiter actually watched me from afar to make sure it was ok. I know, because again it wasn't ok & he could tell by my facial expression, because I didn't say anything. He was at my side in an instant. Again, it was not the cook's fault, it was my quirky intolerance to spiciness!
The food is wonderful! You cannot find a better hamburger--juicy, tasty, messy, delicious --just the way they are supposed to be. Every salad is out of this world. Super crunchy, great dressings, wonderful, imaginative additions, never boring. Succulent meat made exactly the temperature you order. It's 2 a.m. I am making myself hungry! Oh! Their meringue pies! They somehow get them about 5 - 6 inches tall, all crevicey and twirley, browned and tawney, and it tastes delicious! So does the banana, or lemon, or whatever flavor they have. Save room!
So, I kinda love the place! It's got a great atmosphere. Not all hoity toity and muffled. It's a bit boisterous and free. Fun. A bit swinging. But not scary. It's like a crowded restaurant. Because it's so popular. People come from close by and from very far indeed. Pluto, Neptune, the Great Nebula, wherever that is. Really, I saw it on the reservations list. So, don't forget to get your reservations--you never know where people are coming from!
Service was exceptional. Food was amazing. Everyone had a different entree. All were superb !!
Mustard’s is always fabulous. We have being going there since it opened many years ago. It never disappoints!
We had the duck and rabbit. Everything was excellent! It's been our best dining experience in Napa, by far. We probably wouldn't have come here but it was recommended by numerous locals we talked to. Definitely a gem at fairly reasonable price, considering all the super star chefs in the area. Make time for this place on your next Napa itinerary.
A wonderful experience. Food was excellent and our waiter was one of the best I've every experienced.
We had the fish tostadas and calamari, tuni sushi, and crab cakes. Delicious all around. Beforehand we sat at the bar and the bartender was quick to remember us and did a great job mixing cocktails.
They put me at a table by the front door where we were in the middle of everything. There was a draft, every waiter had to go by us as well as any guest in the restaurant. We had a reservation and had to wait a long time to get us reseated eventually.
Always amazing !!! Our Hostess and waiter both said its nice to see you again.I have going over 20 years and I always recommend that Mustards is the Number one Restaurant in the Napa valley and should never be missed when visiting the area.Your Trip will Not be complete without dining there. And always get the Tamales!!They are not the classic Tamale .They stand alone and have their own category of excellence from first bite to completion.I always mention them to the Newbies in the house. It would be such a shame to have entered inside the Mustards Golden Temple and not have been introduced to the appetizer on the list, of my if Stranded on an Island, what food would you want to be stranded with !!! Oh ya
The Mongolian Pork Chop is amazing!
We love Mustards!!!!
Overall, an outstanding meal. Great service, great food. Will be back for sure.
Birthday and national championship pre-game meal!
Took the whole family, kids and all. Outstanding as always! Can’t wait till next time!
Absolutely delicious! Very busy place. Best to make a reservation.
Great food and ambience
Great restaurant! My fiancée and I love coming for dinner and a drink at the bar. It's a great atmosphere and the service is amazing!
Yummy, but very loud. I’d recommend the pork chop, calamari, and lemon pie.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch. The porcini mushroom lobster bisque soup was excellent. They were busy but the server took great care of us. We were seated on time and the food arrived not too late after ordering.
Absolutely love this place. We used to go to Cindy's on the Waterfront at the Monterey Aquarium and were blown away by the outstanding food and wine. Mustard's is even more impressive.
I put a premium on consistency--my favorite places are the ones that have menus that change with the seasons and have a handful of daily specials, yet the food, no matter what you order, is uniformly, reliably great. No matter the cuisine. This is one of the most consistent places we eat. Add in the fact that the food usually arrives quickly, the service is great every time, plus one of the better wine lists I have seen (even some surprisingly strong offerings by the glass!), and you've got a wonderful value.
On to the details: We were on our way to Anderson Valley and decided to have lunch here. The menu was a struggle of the best sort--hard to decide what to get when everything is going to be so good. I finally chose the short ribs braised in barolo (fantastic--barolo is a great call) while my wife chose the lemon and garlic chicken. Not the biggest fan of chicken, myself, but this really was delicious. And we were out in less than an hour. Look. I know the place fills up fast and can get really noisy, and it can be a wait even with a reservation. But believe me, this place is more than worth it.
The 6 of us enjoyed a wonderful meal. We look forward to dining here again. We especially recommend the lobster and porcini mushroom soup and the Mongolian Pork Chop. The mashed potatoes and red cabbage which accompanied the pork chop were especially flavorful.
Outstanding meal, great wine selection & even better service! The finest truck stop diner in the world😂😂🍷🍾
Had a great waiter Rhys! The pork chop was not as good as the prior trip. Lighting is too bright. Not the restaurants fault but a very young child was yelling for attention louder than I have heard in a restaurant.
Food and service by our waiter was wonderful. The service by the hostess was very disappointing and the reason for the Poor rating for Service. Arrived early for our reservation but had to wait while she seated parties that came in after us with no reservation. Would have been seated earlier without a reservation.
Back after 30 years, and still super food and service.
A wine country classic that never disappoints. Especially the pork chop!
Reese was the bomb.
Food was exquisite.
Would go again today.
Great meal and service!!!
A must when you are in the area. It’s one of our favorite places to eat when we come to the valley. Food is always consistent and annoy couldn’t be better .
We visit the area every year and Mustard's has become a tradition as well. Always excellent comfort food and awesome customer service. Our waiter Gabe was outstanding with his tableside chat, Mahalo from San Diego!
I stumbled on Mustards nearly 30 years ago, it was new and I still talk about that dinning experience, it was outstanding. Coming back was a hoot! Fantastic meal and perfect service! Portions are generous and prices reasonable. Make reservation in advance; go with friends so you can share.
Daughter and I had to go since it has been almost 20 years since my last visit. Food was exceptional as always and wine list was expansive. So glad we made a reservation as it was packed. Delightful lunch with good service.
Very few things in life get better and better and never disappoint. We have been going to Mustards and Cindi’s other restaurants for forty years and she is a genius. Dustin’s transfer from Backstreet was an inspired move, and as always the service is both exceptional and personal (another rare and wonderful thing)!
I got the ribs. Frankly my husband can do a better job. I was disappointed. Service was great.
Mongolian Pork Chop continues to rock. Red cabbage and mashed potatoes and that Sauce!!
