nopa - San Francisco
The quality of the food is really high. The menu changes daily and it reflects seasonal products. I had a pork chop and it was perfectly cooked, juicy and tasty. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some quality food and service.
Great dinner. Our waiter was awesome and guided us through our choices! Loved it
Great experience with only a con: Moscow Mule must be served in a copper mug, moreover by the price charged.
The papardelle was outstanding!
Nope is absolutely one of the best resteraunts in San Francisco. I love eating here. Food is top notch, the atmosphere is lively. This is not a quiet little bistro. It is full of life and people. The servers are super knowledgeable about the food and they have a fantastic bar and a good wine list.
The roasted black cod is delicious, perfectly cooked.
Boyfriends birthday was magical!!
Love Chef Alejandro! ♥️
This place never disappoints. I go at least once a week and we always get pork chops. This time, we arrived 15-20 minutes early and they were able to seat us right away, which was an awesome surprise. Service was super friendly and we got our food pretty quickly as well. Nopa is an example restaurant for how to keep it going long-term in the city! I hope it never goes away...
Beautiful setting with an intimacy which enables private conversations. Great cocktails and brilliant staff. I'd definitely recommend this place.
Nopa is always a nice treat that is fun for special occasions. The food is always tasty and the overall ambiance is great.
Sunday brunch was terrific. Service was outstanding, we were one of the last reservations nonetheless we were treated very well. Menu is limited, but every dish we tried was done extremely well. We'll go again, dinner next time.
Worth a try
Went for brunch. Food is done well but not exciting. Service pretty mediocre and feels like they are focused on turning tables - simple orders like drinks and extra bread took forever to come and the ‘full’ coffee pot was half empty!
I was a bit offended that I made reservations but was seated directly by a group of four. Not exaggerating when I say it was like being on a date with the group. That’s how little space there was in between us. My boyfriend and I literally could repeat verbatim their conversations. Food was okay. Our waiter was very pleasant however. It’s disappointing because we’d originally booked a reso at a different restaurant that night as well but decided to go with nopa. Won’t be returning on my next trip to SF.
The portions were small and we left still hungry. We went to Jack in The Box and were satisfied but NOPA didn’t feed us very well AND it was very expensive. Not a good value for the money.
Celebrated my birthday with my adult daughter who lives in NOPA. Excellent experience start to finish. Great ambience, service and meal.
Brunch was delicious! We ordered a half order of French toast, which was done really well and still left room to try the butter basted eggs. I’ve never seen eggs look so pretty before. Paired with the fried mushrooms, so good! Would def recommend but just make reservations in advance as it’s a bit hard to get a table if you just walk in.
We tried Nopa years ago, and found the food so good that it became one of our favorite restaurants period. We've made a point to eat here every time we return to San Francisco. That said, if you get a waitress named Michelle just walk out before she ruins your evening, and find a last minute opening elsewhere. Literally the worst service we have received in our lives. Left a majorly sour taste in our mouths, and doubtful we'll return again at this point.
Creative, tasty, consistent, never boring, fairly priced (and they actually give you a normal portion size!). In addition, it is a very lively place, Highly recommended. BTW, their brunch is also fabulous (and seasonal).
We lucked out with a dinner reservation to celebrate our anniversary and had an amazing meal. Ordered a few small plates to start which were all delicious, but the beet humus served with shaved asparagus was one of my favorite dishes ever. The duck breast entree was perfectly cooked and was also a remarkable dish. We had wonderful food and our server was attentive and provided great suggestions for our first time dining here.
Birthday dinner. It was fantastic!
Really enjoyed Sunday Brunch here. Friendly and efficient staff. Good valve - will return.
Great vibe! A little noisy; good for friends and adults family get together. Food was good and descent wine list at affordable price. Large plate so you dont go hungry after.
Amazing!! Get the biscuits and the sunshine fiz!
We love coming to Nopa. This time we had the soup the asparagus salad, the chicken and the pasta. Each was delicious.
Food and beverage were fabulous and super service.
I love Nopa. Like, the kind of love where, when I took my now-husband there on a date and if he had given me even the slightest feeling that he didn’t dig the food, the ambiance, or the vibe— we might not have gotten married kind of love. I have serious feels for this place. Starting when I was single, and would catch shows at the Independent with the gal pals, Nopa was always our after show spot. We were starving after a night of dancing and singing our lungs out. Nopa was open late enough for us to have somewhere good to go and talk about whether or not the lead singer of this or that band was looking directly at us when they sang our favorite song. Now that I’m married, Nopa has taken on a different specialness. It’s where we go to celebrate big things, small things, entertain out of town company, date nights, and just because’s. Everything I’ve ever had on the menu has been delicious and wonderfully presented. My go-to favorite, the Pappardelle Bolognese dish gives me more happiness and contentment than a dish of pasta probably should, and my husband, having a gluten allergy, enjoys that most of the meat dishes, like pork chops, chicken or even the occasional ribeye, can be served to accommodate his restrictions .
The staff is like a well oiled, cool kids in school kind of machine. Friendly, conversational, accommodating and keeps the experience going from the sit down introductions, to paying the bill and the goodbyes.
Living in Sacramento, I don’t think about the distance it takes to get to Nopa, I think about the end result and how worth it it is to be at a place that makes great food, good company, and an even better story.
To start positively, the service was stellar. Great wine options, knowledgeable server. The food was very pedestrian. The kind of food you can get most anywhere. The noise level was off the charts. We were seated next to a table full of coked up sorority girls from hell. While that is not the fault of the establishment, it could have been addressed rather than fed.
Great experience at the Nopa last night!
I LOVE a restaurant when they use fresh seasonal product in making the dishes. Nopa is a great example of it. We started with Warm Goat Cheese. The combo of goat cheese and pink grapefruit is not only visually appealing but also added a new dimension to the taste. One thing to note, the portion is def too big for two.
The Sardine is hands down my favourite dish. The moment they said it is a local catch I have to try it. The fish was so fresh and the vinaigrette dressing is just right to bring the freshness out of the dish.
The Date Cake is probably my second favourite of the night. If you like the combination of sweet and savoury, it is the dessert you must get!
The server was really helpful on providing details of the dishes and recommending drinks.
The only small thing I want to mentions is. I wish they can use some nicer plates to bring out the color of the food. For example, the date cake was on a brown plate.
Went here for my birthday. We ordered the goat cheese, the chicory salad, the pappardelle and the burger. The cheese and the pasta was good, but the salad was boring and the burger was too rare. I only had two bites of the burger. Overall disappointing, there are much better restaurants in this city at this price range.
One of the worst dish I had during my trip to the states,we had to wait long for it and it was not warm enough....not a good experience at all...I suppose the people atr coming for the atmosphere (and the noise ) but certainly not for the food...very disappointing
Good, but expensive and a bit loud.
I brought my family out from the east coast to SF to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday and chose NOPA. I called ahead, spoke to Manager, Francesca, who assured me that it would be a great place to celebrate. She said she wrote down that it was a special occasion so wait staff would know. She advised me not to bring in a dessert , as theirs were better and there would be candles. She said she would be there. Nothing happened. After paying my large bill I quietly inquired about Francesca etc. hostess said”sorry”. Then she turned around and walked away leaving me once again disappointed. I can’t get this event back for my family. I left feeling very sad. I hope the chef, manager of NOPA never feels this kind of disappointment when they attempt to arrange something special for one of their family members. I don’t know what else I could have done.
Far too long a wait, 25 mins between a bowl of beans and a goats cheese starter. Whilst other tables had received several dishes at the same time, in a shorter amount of space.
The service was exceptional
Outstanding as usual!!!! 💗
Great food, great service, very loud. But will go back.
One of my favorite restaurants!
Say nope to Nopa. Our 2-person dinner consisted of only 5 dishes but lasted 3 hours, not by choice. The timing was strange, the dessert never came and the food was mediocre. By the time our 4th and 5th dishes arrived, I had already forgotten what we ate first - it was that unremarkable. The only bright spots were the red wine and our server. I would not recommend.
