This was my 3rd visit to Nue, 4/13/24 at 12noon. Overall was great except the noise. While we were there, the restaurant is having some sort of renovation or construction working on the outside wall. The banging noise were unpleasant and we didn’t enjoy the interruption from the noise. No restaurant staffs nor manager come to apologize or letting us know about what’s going on. That’s the negative of this visit

The food is good….but it is way overpriced. Went for my wife’s birthday and this place just isnt memorable. A meal for 2 was almost 300.00 with the cheapest bottle of wine, one app each and 1 main. That price point starts getting into Michelin star price range and this place is not that elevated. For instance, I got the ribs which comes with pickled fruit on top and a bowl of rice. The ribs are on the bone so there is no way easy way to eat the fruit, rice and ribs together. My wife got the coconut curry with scallops. They added 19.00 on top of the 40.00 for 3 pieces of scallops. Just not worth it. They also add a 20% surcharge for some reason.

Fantastic meal and the service was outstanding. The owner, Ashley, stopped by our table several times to ensure we were enjoying our meal. The whole staff was attentive and lovely. I can’t recommend it enough. Also, a cozy, upscale interior - a great place all around.

My girlfriend and I celebrated her birthday at Nue and had a fantastic experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with an art deco vibe. Our server was very helpful in guiding us through the menu and helping us decide on cocktails and dishes. The cocktail list featured a a variety of different drinks with unique ingredients. The food menu contained Vietnamese dishes with a more traditional approach as well as some with a creative twist. We ordered the Hamachi crudo, chili oil wontons, and seafood Cha Gio as starters, and Bo Kho pappardelle and coconut curry risotto as mains. Every dish was delicious - it was hard to pick a favorite. We finished with the yuca cake dessert. It was honestly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had recently and we’ll definitely be back to try some new dishes soon. It’s pricier than a typical casual Vietnamese restaurant but it felt like we had a Michelin star experience.

The meal was exquisite. The dishes were well presented, creative and delicious as well as showing upon rather generous, dare we say it, North American portions. Our server (and others passing) was/were fantastic but we did sit at the bar and not at a table. This was a choice that we consciously made because we were celebrating our 19th anniversary sans children. Intimacy. A few reviews complain about price or the lack of selections on the menu. All we can say is: post-COVID prices have gone up significantly but that is true for everything that we, as a community, consume today. It might be harder to stomach the price increases for discretionary expenses like a fancy meal. In any event, please do not expect 1980s or even 2019 prices. Secondly, yep, it is pricey, but it is worth every centime. The "limited" menu is what really good restaurants do, not to gouge you, but to spoil you with a core set of dishes that will tantalite the palate of almost every true gourmand. NUE hits the mark rather well. Finally, one kink in the armor, is how food is served today and how waitstaff interact with customers. Partly caused by the clash of generations, e.g., servers and the served may have 30 to 40 years between them, partly because due to COVID the new wave apparently did not get to learn from the OGs who did not return to the hospitality business sector, and is likely partly due to the pace of life in the DMV as practiced by folks with maybe too much money. That service process part needs to be ironed-out, but it is not just an issue at NUE, but at most, if not all, DMV fine food establishments. We, for one, will be back to NUE very soon. We just need to save up for it and we won't have to wait a year.

The food was excellent, though we were disappointed that our dietary restrictions which we had communicated in advance were not taken into any consideration. the staff was aware of these but from the kitchen we continued to receive throught the dinner the kind of food (sugar, dairy) we had asked to avoid. A bit surreal overall....

It was good overall but for two entrees, one appetizer and two cocktails a person for $200 it was a bit much. I feel like for that amount of money the experience should be a little more memorable.

Food was good but not worth the price. Very few entree selections which forced you to get a very expensive “shared plate”. A large fried fish for $100 - supposedly for 3-4 was enough for 2 - we went home hungry. Why even have Bolognese on a Vietnamese menu ($39) - it was even served with Paramasian cheese. Why even have Bolognese on a Vietnamese menu ($39). Do I really want Italian food at a Vietnamese restaurant. If I wanted Italian food, I would have gone to an Italian restaurant — What was the chef thinking? Lastly - charging a20% service fee is terrible. Tipping is not a obligation and as the customer I should choose how much to tip not the resturant. The service was not worthy of a 20% tip. Very expensive given that there are many Vietnamese restaurants options in the area that serve just a good food at half the price. We will not return.

It was one of the best dining in experience I have had in Northern Virginia. I was hosting a small birthday brunch with three of my friends and everything was perfect. I loved that I was able to bring in my own wine (corkage fee $25) and cake. The food was phenomenal. We ordered wild muschroom/tofu vermicelli and chili wontons as appetizer and 3lb fried fish plate as well as mushroom congee as main course. Everything tasted perfectly seasoned, were fresh but the fish plate was even more memorable. My friends and I were so impressed. We also received excellent service from your staff, and they were kind enough to let us take so many pictures and helped us with them to document our celebration. I was additionally very touched by the restaurant's handwritten card and the gift card! I couldn't recommend this restaurant more.

The Chili Oil Wontons were fabulous; the short rib pappardelle was excellent However the coconut rissotto was runny; not enough textural contrast; too sweet. I was sorry I ordered it. The grilled octopus was Good/ok; I have had much better elsewhere for the price. Our main waiter was excellent; the helper hovered too much over the table constantly asking us if we were done. I will recommend this restaurant with some reservations attached.

Everything was perfect this time around. The fish was so good and our water was on point with being attentive but not too chatty. Tips: order the XL size fish, twice we order the L size and we’re disappointed. The wonton, octopus, new years dragon drinks (we ordered all 4 except for the water dragon, will need to come back for it) we’re so yummy. The egg rolls was just okay though.

Phenomenal flavors, descent serving size, wonderful attentive and knowledgeable bartenders/servers, comfortable and cozy ambiance. A fun and creative take on Vietnamese modern style cuisine. I had the fire dragon cocktail special (AMAZING if you like mezcal + spicy). For dinner I ate the coconut curry risotto + scallops. Delicious. My husband had the Bo Khả Pappardelle which also was freaking amazing. Very excited to go back! Thanks for a delightful evening.

Nue is a lovely addition to Falls Church City. The menu is not extensive, but there were enough choices for two non-meat eaters. My companion and I ordered two small plates and a large plate to share, and it was plenty for us. Dessert -- the yucca cake -- was delicious. The space is pretty and serene. We were there on a Wednesday, and it wasn't very crowded, so it is hard to say whether or not it would be noisy with more guests there.

Went here for the first time for my anniversary yesterday . They were so sweet giving us complimentary Rosé glass for the both of us . Our table also had a beautiful vase with a red rose to fit the theme. Other tables were bare if not just regular setting so I appreciate that they did that . The restaurant is big . The aesthetics in the bright room were nice -I suppose coz it’s still Chinese new yr. Where we sat was dim and good for the ambiance and occasion . Ok ok… now the really good stuff.. food was excellent! I had scallops and coconut risotto! OMG Yummm! And the octopus was delicious as well . The fennel salad was ok for me it’s not my jam but I did taste it from my partner. They made a smoked Old fashion and it was so yummy! Better than I’ve had in a long time . I tried something out of their coktail menu but it was not to my liking . It was good but not as yummy as the old fashion.😉 the staff was courteous and friendly. We were also given a gift card (can’t remember $value) but it will go towards the next visit. Man I can’t wait to go back 🌸❤️

Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully plated; our favorites were the Crispy Whole Fish + Wild Spanish Octopus. This was our first visit to Nue, which has gotten great writeups in the Washington Post food section and is only three blocks from our house in Falls Church, VA. My wife and I agree that it was outstanding and definitely lived up to the rave reviews. We started with two unusual, but delicious cocktails - a "Cloudy Dreams" made with Empress Gin, Genepy, Hibiscus, Lemon, Mint, Aquafaba and a "Calamansi Margherita" with Teremana Tequila Silver, Grapefruit Orange Soju, Lime Juice, Calamansi, Fresno, Lemongrass. Our appetizers - fennel salad and snow crab asparagus soup - along with our shared entree of crispy whole, de-boned, wild-caught fluke fish with herbs, lettuce wraps, and pineapple nuoc cham, were delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. The decor is beautiful and elegant. Nue get big thumbs up from us.

With every place having a mixologist these days, cocktails have become a real hit and miss but we were fortunate to visit at a time that Nue was serving their special dragon cocktails. They went superbly with their unique Red Snapper which was pricey but exquisite and delicious. It’s a small, but cozy and friendly restaurant.

Our experience at Nue was exceptional in ways few restaurants can match. We made a reservation for two at the bar because that was all that was left and I was hoping to upgrade to a booth when we got there. I shouldn’t have worried and I think I would prefer the bar seating in the future. The stools are uncommonly comfortable and well spaced with a nice foot rest. It still felt private but the bartenders were charismatic without being intrusive and we had plenty of space from our neighbors. The menu is small with about six small plates and six mains. The bar focus is clearly cocktails and we had several. All were good, with a focus on Asian flavors and there were a lot of subtle, herbal notes rather than big sweet tropical flavors. My wife order the octopus starter with a shrimp and curry sauce. I have a shellfish allergy (which they asked about and carefully noted prior to dining), so I couldn’t share that one. She loved it and it was fork tender and beautifully presented. I had three raw oysters with yuzu. They were small but perfectly balanced bites. We had the crispy whole fish as our shared entree. I have had this many places and Nue’s preparation was among the best. They offer compact, separated vermicelli cakes to dip in the sauce and form the base of a lettuce wrap. The portion was generous and so good we were racing each other a bit to get the last bite. The desserts and coffee were excellent even though one, with fried cakes and dulce de leche ice cream felt more New Orleans than Vietnamese. What truly made this a special experience though is the touches that made the meal an experience. The people working there actually seemed to be enjoying each other and the customers. The vibe was somehow both intimate and being in the center of a party. I won’t spoil it, but at the end of the night they made a point of having us meet the owner and we got to participate in a game that was truly exciting and made me want to come back. Wonderful.
