What Insiders Are Saying
One of LA's finest Italian restaurants, Osteria Mozza in Hollywood is still very much at the top of its game.
Amazing place. Service, food, ambiance all great. Did I say the food was amazing. We drove 35 miles to get thugs place and were not disappointed. We ate family style and shared all the dishes. We'll be back! You must try the Raviollo umm.
Simply amazing! This is my first favorite restaurant...ever!
Every dish is cooked perfectly. Tastes and textures are phenomenal!
Just go. You’ll love it!
Delicious flavors! Loved the corn filled ravioli!
Amazing service, outstanding food and very comfortable and classy. I would definitely recommend, especially for a special occasion.
Great food and service would definitely go back
Celebrating milestone birthday
Jen provided exceptional service, answered questions and provided suggestions for what might fit the palate. The dishes were beautifully presented and every staff member that was encountered was friendly.
Our waiter was outstanding! Ralph I believe was his name.
Food is like really Italian food. It's hard to find truly Italian dishes in LA but this place is a rare find.
They have great pasta. We ordered the tasting menu and everything we tried was delicious.
The food was incredible, the service was amazing. We were unsure what/how much to order, and our server helped us navigate the menu. And we were so happy with her recommendations! And they brought a candle with dessert (as we were celebrating my birthday), which was a nice touch. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Osteria Mozza was a delight in all ways. I love the comfortable elegance inside. Crisp, white linen, good seating and the beauty of the wine racks, lights over the bar made it an " easy to be in" space. The food was delicious! My husband and I spent 16 days in Italy recently and never had one bad bite of food. The food at Mozza was truly authentic, not pretentious, but simple and divine. Get the Burrata/ mozzarella for sure. Any of them. Share dishes and delight in them all. The portion sizes aren't huge bit the taste is big! We had a smooth, very flavorful Chianti-Castello Di Ama 2014. This is a special place. Enjoy all the ways it delights.
Your management did not let a Party of Three sit at their table until the fourth person came. The fourth person was unfortunately an hour late. Not good business for regular customers. You should rethink that
Amazing quality of food with very friendly service.
I am tired of LA restaurants caring more about how beautiful the restaurant is over the food they serve. I have been to Osteria Mozza three times now and each time it has been a less and less enjoyable experience. Staff was lack luster, food was basic and the quality of it didn't seem better than what I could buy at a Cosco. You pay for the room you sit in not the food you eat.
Overall a great experience! That Michelin star is definitely deserved.
It was our 54th wedding anniversary and it was a fabulous experience. We had been wanting to dine there and this special occasion was made perfect. Our server Cara Elena was fantastic. We had such a lovely time.
I find it hard to believe that Osteria Mozza received a one Michelin star. The restaurant certainly does not deserve a distinction like this. The service was mediocre at best. My dining companion and I shared three pastas. The sauces were all excellent, but the dishes were certainly not memorable. In addition, I thought the gnocci was far too heavy. I also was shocked by how disorderly and dirty the men's washroom was kept. The famous restauranteur, Nancy Silverton, needs to invest more time at her flagship restaurant. Osteria Mozza needs to cleanup its act if it is going to keep it's Michelin star.
A family friend recommended this place he runs a restaurant himself and he was talking to us about Chef Silverton. He was talking about the care and passion she puts into his food. He himself runs an Italian restaurant and he recommended this place as a birthday dinner over his place because it was a different experience. The flavors presented are like Disney’s toy story midway mania it’s crazy there are all these little themes but they all tie in so well and make the fold fantastic. From fresh mozzarella to fresh pasta, it all makes the biggest difference when it comes to the symphony your mouth plays from all the flavors. Definitely recommended this place as a place to try new things but also classics.
Best restaurant in the city.
I never miss a chance to eat here when I'm in LA. As good as any Italian restaurant in NYC
World class experience. Superb ingredients, pinpoint flavors, expert service, gorgeous room, deep wine list. Just terrific.
It was so beautiful. I loved the entire experience that Osteria Mozza provided. The food was sublime, spiced lamb stuffed grape leaves that were perfectly chard but also juicy, the Gnocchi with Duck Ragù was fresh, not too heavy, yet was still filling and delicate, the Tagliatelle with Oxtail Ragù was INCREDIBLE, I would recommend it to anyone who visits. Such an exquisite restaurant. The staff was knowledgeable about wines (they let us try different wines and asked us questions about the flavor so we could find the perfect wine for the evening). It was a special occasion and every single person who came to the table for any reason, remembered and wished us a happy anniversary. I will definitely be visiting again for another perfect dining experience.
I was very satisfied with my experience at Osteria Mozza. I have to say every detail regarding the service, food, ambience, etc. was spot on. The slaw/salad that is served with the soft shell crab is amazing. So light yet filled with nuances of flavors. I found myself separating every veggie/ingredient. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the pork sausage was fatty and rich. The beef tagliatta was good but not my favorite plate of the entire meal. Understandably, it would be a different story had I ordered the ribeye. That being said, it was an amazing experience. My server was very helpful and polite. My girlfriend and I were both unfamiliar with the menu, but our server guided us through. This dinner made for a perfect anniversary. Thank you very much Osteria Mozza!
The food was fantastic. My wife and I both thought it may have been the best meal we ever had. The gnocchi with the duck ragu was absolutely amazing. Loved the small touches too like our menus saying "Happy Anniversary" and our dessert arriving with a candle all without any prompting! Such a great restaurant and we'll be back for sure to try out the rest of the menu!
For us, this is definitely a special occasion restaurant. The wait staff was attentive and very professional. Many things to love about this restaurant. The cheeses, bread and antipasti are excellent. The pastas we had were also really good. On the advice of the waiter, we ordered the hangar steak which I have never actually had before. I was surprised that it was tougher than I expected. Maybe this is normal for hangar steak. Desserts had mixed reviews from our group. They need more affordable wines by the glass on their list (seriously, $28 for a glass of wine?) (There are no wines in a reasonable price range that you can find to complement your food?) Would only go to this restaurant if you are prepared to spend $100 per person. However, it was very good (but not perfect.)
The food is so good here. Freshly made buratta, the bolognese was sublime. For our second dishes, we shared the hanger steak (beef tagliatelle) & the yellow tail which were both delicious. The service was top notch as well. My only criticism would be the restaurant policies. When we arrived, we were 3 out of 5. We knew the others were just behind us. However, they mistakenly entered the pizzeria. The hostess would only seat a complete party. This is a mild irritant and I know restaurants need to run a tight ship however, there is also the policy of only putting in a complete order. So we couldn’t order appetizers & slowly ponder our choices. So those 2 policies make Osteria Mozza seem a bit uptight. But certainly not enough reason not to go back for the truly amazing food.
waiter forgot to bring us a dish that was ordered.
needed to beg to have water glasses refilled.
waiter took 3 reminds and 20 minutes to bring coffee.
We had a late reservation and asked if we could be seated early. No tables but we were offered the bar and it was great. Bartender was a great waiter! Pasta dishes were excellent - gnocchi were pillowy and divine. Yellowtail perfectly cooked. Strawberry Crespelles were amazing!
It was incredible!!! The service was amazing!
The complimentary bread was fantastic.
Osteria Mozza was wonderful. From walking into the door and meeting the courteous professions until I left I felt in the warm embrace of caring professionals. My server was fantastic and walked me through the menu with patience and expertise. I sat at the cheese bar and thoroughly enjoyed watching the artisans busy at their craft. The food was amazing and genius in its apparent simplicity that relies on wonderful ingredients. It was a wonderful and delightful experience in every aspect.
A fairly regular favorite of mine in Los Angeles, the ownership may alter but the food remains pretty flawless in execution and the service (Ralph this evening) is superb - warm and friendly and always helpful. The burrata was exceptional with fresh English peas and speck ; the egg yolk ravioli in brown butter remains one of my favorite dishes of all time, and the confit duck was sublime.
We did the tasting menu and the pasta was delicious. Will definitely go back!
Overall an amazing experience. The food was delicious and the serving sizes perfect. Less is more!! The wait staff were knowledge and helpful but not at all intrusive. Will highly recommend to all my friends who may be travelling to LA from Australia.
loved the food and the service and will be back...
The best Italian restaurant in LA
Best in LA so far
I've been here many times. As Italian, having traveled to Italy many times, we count on Mozza to be authentic amazing Italian food. When we have family in town, it's always a must-do. However, we are rethinking that after our last experience. The linguine with prawn was way too oily. Two of us had the pork chop which was over salted and dry, and the cacio pepe was the worst I've ever had, ever. It's my favorite pasta dish, so you can imagine how many times I've had it! There was so much pepper that my palate was almost ruined for the rest of the meal. I wasn't the only one who ordered that, and all 3 of us almost took it back. We didn't for fear that the rest of our meal would take forever. When you leave saying a salad was one of the best dishes after having spent over $600 on food only, that's a problem. Not sure if we will be coming back. The service was amazing as always, and the sommelier knew our wine that we brought and was very helpful with service.
Overrated. We were looking forward to try this restaurant since many celebrities visit and it’s recently received michelin star. The ricotta and egg raviolo and the pork chops were great but the rest was ok. Our server was borderline rude and annoyed by our questions/indecisions on what to order and how much. The bus boy though, was extremely nice to us. After dining in some big ones line Gaggan and Enigma (belive it or not these 2 have the same amount of michelin stars 🙄) this was just an ok, overpriced dinner. Go to Franco’s for better italian.
