Ox is now open for both indoor and outdoor patio seating, seven days per week.

Please note, the weather is out of our control, and therefore with any outdoor experience, there is always a risk of inclement weather and heat waves. As a small restaurant, we have limited ability to accommodate additional seating in the dining room. In the case of inclement weather, we will do our best to accommodate by moving your reservation inside, but we cannot guarantee seats will be available.

OX Restaurant finds inspiration in the wood-fired grilling tradition of Argentina, and with it, the culinary heritage of Spain, France and Italy.

Showcasing prime local meats and fish, OX also features seasonal produce in distinctive preparations.

OX harnesses the culinary talent of Portland chefs Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quiñónez Denton in a friendly and comfortable neighborhood restaurant with an energetic vibe and creative menu designed to appeal to the palate of the Pacific Northwest.

From the OpenTable editors: In its decade-plus of serving thoughtful Argentine fare, Ox has become one of Portland’s best-known restaurants. The focus here from husband-and-wife chefs Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quiñónez Denton is on meat, wood-fired grilling, and big flavors. The pair’s passion earned them a James Beard Award for Best Chef: Northwest in 2017. Don't be shy with your order here: Lean into the meaty celebration with asados like flanken-style beef short ribs and maple-glazed pork chops.

    We’ve been dining at Ox for years and sadly this last visit didn’t live up to the standards they’d previously set for us. The dishes lacked flavors that were once more pronounced. We sat right in the middle of the dining room and it was freezing! I was uncomfortable the entire meal. Overall we left feeling disappointed in a meal we once raved about.

    This was our second time at Ox. I didn't know that the specials were limited. Recommend getting in early, but we got there in time and the beef taretare is HIGHLY recommended. We also got the beef taretare on a previous visit and it was a completely different take this time around. We were a party of 4. The service was top tier. I ended up ordering the Ox Blood, The Knick, the Ribeye (not the cowboy), and the chocolate zucchini cake. My wife ordered the lamb. The steak was melt in your mouth amazing. Seasoned to perfection, but I do have to compliment the chef on their lamb chops because the lamb chops with their mint jelly sauce is just 🤌🤌 exquisite. The bartender was generous with their drinks AND mixed well so that the alcohol doesn't overwhelm the flavor. The Knick was a smoky, bittersweet drink that lingers in my memory. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends and I would do it again and again. The overall experience is just unforgettable.

    Absolutely delicious! We went to Ox for the first time to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had the dungeness crab bruschetta, and the asado argentino for two, both delicious. The asado argentino was especially fun, as it was a wonderful sampler platter of Ox's meats, as well as a tasty salad and incredible potatoes. We also were served complimentary "happy birthday" chocolate brownie ice cream on honeycomb--so yummy and a wonderful way to end the evening. The service was excellent as well. We sat outside on the patio which is surrounded by honeysuckle (?), and the setting felt private and not overly noisy, even though it is right on MLK JR Blvd. Highly recommend.

    This was our first time to The Ox. We found everything to be outstanding. Food was delicious, ambience was so relaxing, and the service was amazing. We will definitely be back.

    I eat at fine dining restaurants all over the world regularly and steakhouses are my go-to. I have eaten at Ox many times over the years and it's always good. But this time was exceptional in every way. Whatever you're doing over there recently, keep it on!
