What Insiders Are Saying
A solid North Beach brunch option, which, get this: actually takes reservations. Don't sleep on Park Tavern.
Play at the Golden Gate Theater. Good food. Good service. Noise level was a little loud. I will return.
Mussel dish was disappointing. Smallest mussels ever, way too much Farro and too spicy (and I like spicy food)
Burgers shrimp,, soup, and salad were good.
Shrimp appetizer came out w 3 shrimp, for $18! later the waiter saw the problem and fixed it, but why he didn’t notice when serving was lame.
Overall the space is great but I live near Marlowe and will tolerate noise there because they have excellent service.
The restaurant was recommended by a local friend for a business dinner. Great lively atmosphere with an easy noise level for conversation (towards front windows). Service and server were excellent - food came out very quick. Enjoyed the brussel sprouts chips and PT fries starters, but the wagyu jerky was tougher in texture, a little subtle in taste. Excellent flavors on the trout entree, the halibut (or seabass?), and the rich ravioli entree. Don't miss the coffee creme brulee!
Bit was just ok. Over priced for the quality. Too noisy - couldn’t carry on a conversation. Would not go back.
Wonderful food and stupendous service, always! Heather was our friendly server who was warm and extremely knowledgable. The poulet noir was incredible and, my favorite of all, the "birthday cake" on their dessert menu was to die for. I am a local in the area and definitely will be back time and time again. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and evening!
the service was terrific. the food was delicious. my party of four was able to enjoy our meal and have a nice conversation. we walked out, commenting how pleasant our dinner was. we all would return and recommend the restaurant to others.
way to dark~! this isnt a romance restaurant - service was slow then rapid - wife asked them to slow down - waiter was a nice guy - food overall seemed tired - music was too loud and I'm a rock guitarist but this didnt work - will likely come back - Saturday night can lose details
Food was ok.
Steaks were cold and we sent them back. When they came back they were tough.
I will go back. It was a off night for them.
Great ambiance and service. The food tasted good but under performing on the cooking. Got the seabass beans were undercooked and gave me lots of gas. In contrast greens were overcooked.
It gets kind of noisy but staff was friendly abd accommodated our quiet table requests
Absolutely top-notch, one of San Francisco’s best restaurants.
Service was exceptional. Place was crowded, staff attentive food prepared exactly as requested, and very good. Quality of service and food will have us returning.
As usual, the Park Tavern didn’t disappoint. One of my go-to SF spots.
Great experience at this local SF Restaurant, very good food and exceptional service. Really a great experience. Outstanding food.
Food and service were very good. Noise level was high.
Nice setting for initial informal meeting.
Love the buttermilk pancakes
Love this place! It is always on my short list of potential brunch spots.
All around a wonderful place for a meal. The staff are top notch!
Love the buttermilk pancakes! Amazing!!!
La comida estaba buena pero el servicio muy malo y ademas nos trajeron la cuenta sin haber terminado el vino cuando seguíamos tomandonoslo tranquilamente.
Had a bad experience with the host and Maitre d. They had us sit at the far end of the communal table when the restaurant was empty. My friend had a newborn and it was very uncomfortable. I made a quick reservation on opentable and they moved us to a table so clearly they had space.
New Year's Eve
Enjoyed Park Tavern for New Year's Eve. Set menu was $95/person, a little pricey. But included a decent champagne cocktail and desert. The room is very attractive and service was great. Very interesting wine list for other visits. The food was inventive and tasty. Perfect Special Occasion spot.
This is my wife’s and my favorite restaurant in the City. This was our first time getting breakfast and it was terrific. Their cocktails are always terrific!!!
Salad was drowning in dressing. Meat was very undercooked and had to be sent back. Very noisy. Been here several times but won’t go back.
I celebrated my 80th birthday with my family and friends, and Park Tavern made the occasion special for us, service and attention wonderful! variety of dishes for my guests to choose from great menu selections! reasonably priced especially for brunch; all the staff stopped by to wish me happy birthday and the hostess did a great job of making sure our table was special and well taken care of.....everybody tried a different dish and every dish was just so tasty and perfectly served, all at one time to everyone.....drinks are fun and again reasonably priced so everyone had their choice, can't say enough about the wonderful bruch we had Dec. 29th. Thank you Park Tavern!
Wonderful Sunday brunch. From savory to sweet items, explosions of flavor.
Food was really good but it was so dark out couldn’t see your plate! What’s the point if that?
We were in town visiting for a couple of days and booked a last minute reservation. Overal great solid food experience. PT fries, deviled eggs, sea bass, and hanger steak were awesome. Cocktails were tasty and server was super polite and helpful.
Great place to celebrate a special event, especially at the holidays. Wonderful ambiance that feels very cozy and traditional. Food is great but a smidge pricey for what you get, in my opinion. Great wine list.
Everything was way too salty and inedible
We enjoyed our visit to Park Tavern the food was good the service was good, the ambience was good, however it was really loud in the restaurant. Which made it hard to converse unless you where sitting right next to the person.
We went to try Park Tavern for dinner because we had had a nice brunch some time ago in nice weather, sitting in the patio. Everything was wonderful for dinner EXCEPT the bomb level noise! That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. What is it with RIDICULOUSLY LOUD restaurants? What is so HIP about craning your neck to hear the person across the table from you? The noise level was way above accepted decibel norms and the three of us had to literally almost shout at one another to have a conversation. The workers in this restaurants are surely loosing their hearing a little bit at a time every day/night they work inside the dining room. PLEASE find a way to mute the noise level so everyone can speak normally and not have their ear drums blasted through a meal. Everything else was WONDERFUL and SPOT ON about Park Tavern. But you won’t find me there again, especially in the evening, until the decibels are much lower. Really too bad.
Service was uneven. Evident there was an effort get my party out of the restaurant re the desert course.
Food was mediocre at best. one dinner had to be returned because it was undercooked. The meat was a poor cut and was riddled with gristle. The famous Marlowe burger was over charred and very salty.
I am a decent cook. I go out to dinner to enjoy a food experience that exceeds what I do in my kitchen. The PT was not one of those experiences. Not only disappointing, but the pricing exceeded the quality of the meal.
Food was good but our service was terrible. The reception staff was very polite and very accommodating.
The service was terrible because in essence, we were left to fend for ourselves. For example, we asked for a side of bread that came half way through the entree. There were no visits to see if we were doing okay.
This was a birthday brunch and I was irritated for most of the brunch. Nice vibe, excellent renovation and the food was okay though it could have been warmer. I was surprised that the waiter was so AWOL.
It will be a long time before I go there.
The food and service were very good, but the clientele this place attracts are loudmouth annoying tech-bros and we had to endure plenty of shouting about "crushing it" and "killing it" during our meal. While the staff and food were exceptional, I won't go back simply due to my experience with other diners.
Two of us had finished eating our meals before the third person in our party got her pancakes at brunch. The waiter kept coming to say that the pancakes were "almost done," but it almost felt like a cook in the back was trying to spite the waiter by not cooking the pancakes. The other dishes were eggs benedict, a burger and a side of bacon. How are those meals cooked, served and eaten before the pancakes hit the table? Pancakes are the easiest and fastest to cook of them all! They did not even offer to take the pancakes off of the bill. We had to ask the waiter to do so.
Couldn’t have had a better brunch with old friends!
Food served hot and a la carte
Park Tavern was an interesting mixed-bag. My shrimps and grits was one of the best I ate, but they forgot the potatoes in my friend's hash and took ages to bring out a couple slices of cinnamon toast when she asked for sour dough.
Great place. I’ve been there twice. Unfortunately, I’ve had the same waiter each time and he totally ruins the experience. He’s intrusive and overbearing and has no sense of timing or nuance. Get rid of him and the place is just about perfect. Food is great; everything works. Love the weekly specials. Beef Wellington night is not to be missed. My advice: sit at the bar.
