Seafood
With an ambience steeped in rustic charm and a menu filled with treasures from the sea, Pearl Dive Oyster Palace focuses on fresh produce and quality ingredients in its welcoming eatery. Specializing in a wide variety of oysters, from such places as Virginia, Japan, Rhode Island, British Columbia and Washington state, Peal Dive Oyster Palace takes oyster preparation seriously, complementing the delicate taste of the oyster. Appetizer options include crispy crawfish fritters, barbecue shrimp and wood-grilled oysters. Besides oysters, house specialties have a decidedly Cajun flair, with items such as seafood gumbo, crawfish etouffee and Gulf Coast Redfish, all of which have an amazing balance of spices.

The rich entrées at Pearl Dive Oyster Bar are further replicated in its dessert menu, with winning options like Beignets and Brazos River Bottom Pecan Pie.

Pearl Dive Oyster Palace is wonderful. We were a party of five and each person loved their meal. Highlights were amazingly fresh oysters and great mussels.

My first visit to Pearl Dive Oyster. Having lived in New Orleans a decade, I was itching for some member-berries Crescent City-style cuisine. I started with a dozen raw oysters. I have never met an oyster I didn't like and they didn't disappoint. ...and for a region that overprices oysters, I appreciated that they were very reasonably priced. Next was a non-traditonal take on baked oysters dish they call "Tchoupitoulas" named after one of the famous Streets in the city. It was good but not great. The tasso ham was a bit too overpowering of what otherwise would have been an amazing new take. Lastly was an order of chicken and Andouille Sausage gumbo. The rue was great. But over-the-top-i-would-murder-you-fot-it amazing, but solid. Overall, the ambience and vibe plus the wonderful service made this a new location for future excursions.

Everything we chose was delicious, cooked to perfection and served timely. The black sea bass with grits and haricots vert was outstanding! The oysters coated in cornmeal were authentically New Orleans style. The desserts were great: fig/maple sorbet and key lime pie!

Our server disappeared after we ordered oysters…and we had to flag him down multiple times to order dinner, a drink…it became frustrating. That being said, the gentleman bussing our table was fantastic, courteous and attentive. The food, overall, was good. In total we e had the mussels and the scallops and a dozen oysters and two drinks. But, for the final bill, we would have liked more attentive service.

Bartender was also the server which appeared to impact service delivery. I'm a frequent visitor and this probably the 2nd sub par experience. I don't blame the bartender but question was this was an optimal solution. Maybe staffing? Will give them another try.

In looking for a top rated oyster restaurant in DC we came across Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, where we had never been, and the menu looked wonderful so we tried it out. It absolutely exceeded our expectations with superb seafood (especially, but not only, those oysters), outstanding service, and an excellent assortment of cocktails and mocktails. We will definitely be back, to try more things!

A surprising offshoot of the Black's restaurant group, this lively upscale seafood house has oysters (fresh or cooked) and much more. I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried the Tchoupitoulas (Oyster Confit, Blue Crab, Tasso Ham, Roasted Corn, Cayenne Hollandaise), and apart from the bed of salt on which the oysters were presented (which I ignorantly took a bite of - bad idea!), they were terrific. We also had familiar standbys - the yummy clam chowder, Roasted Beets & Blood Orange Salad, the scallops and the mussels. All good, plus the Rustic Apple Black Iron Pie For 2 (split three ways) and some cocktails. Of the two gin drinks (Pearl Cup and Fleur 75), the latter seemed a bit precious, and the Pearl Cup was so crowded with cucumber etc. that I actually used the straw. Bardstown Derby is a fun bourbon cocktail. Our service with Roxy was attentive and cheerful. She knew we were going to a show at the Studio Theater nearby and had the check ready for us 15 minutes ahead of our departure time. The dining room was much more crowded (on a Friday night) than on our last visit and got pretty loud.

We always brunch at Pearl when in DC. If I lived there, I would eat there weekly. The restaurant is that good and the service is fabulous, from the host, to the runners and the servers. I eat a lot of raw oysters, but detest the thin, scrappy ones. The waitress offered to exchange any that were not to my liking. No one has ever done that. The Eggs Pontchartrain are my go to dish, but everything my friends order they rave about. I love this establishment!

Quantity of food is fine and the food itself is good enough to be restaurant food but the price paid for it warrants quality of food that’s just a tad higher in my opinion.

We dined here before a play at the Source Theater down the block. Started with Spicy Mezcal Margarita which gets a thumbs-up. The Tchoupitoulas and Wood-Grilled East Coast Oysters were delicious, as was the Seafood Gumbo, Wood Gilled Fish (Rockfish the day we were there) and seared scallops. This was a great Restaurant Week outing, just wish we did not have to rush of for the theater.

You can hardly tell from the outside that there’s a restaurant there, but once inside the food and service were excellent, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Could be noisy on a weekend. We had oysters, clam chowder, octopus and a shrimp po’boy - all good.

I love this place, but am bummed as I feel it’s lost a step. It is still a great restaurant but the menu is kind of static at this point. I was hoping they would have some specials, but they did not. Solid food, great atmosphere, but really expensive for what you get. They lost their Michelin star recently apparently. I hope the can innovate something new to kick new life into their menu.

The four percent credit card fee is absolute BS. Raise the price, or give a discount for cash. But not this. Ruined the evening. And i made the server pay with a lseeer tip. Owner should fix this.

Only the second time I have been here, and it was a great experience. Well priced, especially for seafood. We had gumbo, which albeit a bit salty, was great. We were seated at a table at first, but asked to move to a booth and were accommodated. The service was great, which I do not expect in these times because of staffing issues and costs. A great experience!
