   Revival is ideal for pre-show Berkeley Rep dining. The host asked in advance, assured us we'd be out in time, and we easily were. The menu could use a bit more variety. We did enjoy what we ordered—an appetizer and two of the "boards," but would have liked a few more reasonably priced options, My wine was excellent, as was the cocktail my companion ordered, and the service was friendly and prompt.

   The food was delicious, the cocktail menu is imaginative, and the location is perfectly suited with parking and public transit. My only knock was that we were there near closing, and it took a long time to pay the check.

   LOVE this restaurant! Great spot for pre or post theater near Berkeley Rep, Aurora and music venue. I hope they will be able to start extending their later evening hours soon!

   we never got any food... or drink.... or anything. we sat at our table for close to an hour with nothing. our order was taken 30 minutes in to when we sat down but they couldn't even manage to get us our drinks. finally, we got up and left.

   We had reservations and were seated right away. Service was a bit slow, but food and drinks were very good. I would return with the expectation that things will take time as they appeared short staffed. Our server was good and working as fast as she possibly could. I would not recommend if you were on a tight schedule.

   The food was good, everybody enjoyed theirs. The delivery of the food was very slow. Appetizers took 45 minutes and actual main course another 30 minutes later.

   We were in our way to see a play around the corner and one of us really wanted eating outside. The service was slow, the food finally arrived cold and i didn’t really have time to enjoy anything because we were on a deadline. I am glad that they have an exterior space, a last minute reservation and a Tito and soda but otherwise sadly must say that i would skip. It did the trick but if you have a choice..,,

    We really enjoyed our pre-concert meal at revival. The food was very good, the atmosphere pleasant. We sat outside in a covered patio area. The service was slow but we expected that. It was made clear on the website that the restaurant is operating with some challenges and that concert-goers should allow a couple of hours for the meal. The servers we had were very pleasant, friendly, helpful, and kept us up-to-date about the progress of our entrées. I had a very nice time.

    We have eaten here many times. The service today was awful. We ordered a salad...which the waitress forgot to bring. I ordered the Mezze Platter and the waitress did not bring the flat bread/pita with this...I had to ask for it. Then it was brought to our table. We had to wait 35 minutes to receive any food! With this kind of service, we will find another restaurant to have dinner before going to Berkeley Rep. We are sorry...but this experience was very annoying.

    Pre-theater dinner. They were very concerned about our curtain time which was nice. Nice selection of small plates. The indoors is beautiful and clean and inviting. The outdoor dining space needs to step it up on all those points. It’s an afterthought. And when I went to the hostess stand inside to check in, many employees walked by me without asking if I need assistance. The waitstaff seemed checked out.

    We sat outside and enjoyed drinks and dinner on an unusually hot evening before catching a show. The service was fast and attentive to our showtime, which was really nice and much appreciated! Yummy food too! Will definitely come back!

    It was our first visit to the Revival and would definitely go again. The greeting at the door set the stage for a great experience. The service was fun, kind, and professional. The food presentation was beautiful and the taste matched it perfectly. We had a most positive all around experience. Thank you!

    Our server seemed kind of new and inexperienced so it was a bit hard to communicate what our needs were. The food and drinks were a hit or miss; the oysters were perfect but the cocktails weren’t great. The dessert was mid.

    Lovely restaurant but too noisy even in the quietest spot. This is my third time there and the food, service and location are perfect. Except that $7 for stale bread not good but I guess the chef does not think we should have good bread. the service was lovely. Handsome, kind, attentive (but not too) waiter added to the event. So overall, if you are younger and like the noise and everyone talking loud to be heard, it is perfect.

    Revival used to be my favorite place whenever we were attending Berkeley Rep, so I was disappointed with the quality of the food and drinks. We had to send our Palomas back because the bartender forgot one of the major ingredients (ginger syrup). The dirty Martinis barely had olive juice. The fries were limp, the arancini had no flavor, and the pasta that came with the scallops was chewy as if it had been reheated. It was Mother's Day so we expected great food, yet it seemed they had the B team cooking. When we arrived for dinner the music was jazzy, but then all of a sudden it changed to a mishmash of rock, alternative, pop - so weird. Two plusses were the scallops which were tender and seared to perfection, and the paella. Oh and the Basque cheesecake was truly delicious (and I am not a cheesecake fan). Seems the place needs a better manager or cooks as the menu has barely changed. And also a little bit of renovating; the benches can use re-upholstering. Hopefully someone will pay attention and bring it back to its great standards (and food quality matches its price).

    Service was slow. Waitress took 10 minutes to bring one of us a beer. Scallop and linguini was a rip off - 4 small scallops. Sausage pizza had 3 pieces of sausage. Told the hostess and told the wait person it was my son’s birthday - still nothing and bad service. Will never go back and for the first time in my life will do a yelp review warning people not go waste their money.

    Paid $80 for a very unfresh shrimp cocktail of a mere four shrimp, a small burrata salad with meager veggie slices sprinkled around, and a bland, partially uncooked vegan paella.

We believe 4 wild shrimp for $15 is fair, given the high cost of wild, fresh shrimp. Our burrata is a 4oz portion of cheese, with 2 piles of chopped beets, and olive tapenade and mint. We believe this is a generous salad. Our paella is fully cooked when we bring it up to serve it, and we use smoked paprika and aleppo, with soffrito, making it almost spicy. Our sincere apologies that our food did not please you.

    Very good server -- friendly and took care of us well. I like the paella and have had it before, but I hope you will consider a paella with meat, like the the traditional dish.

    Restaurant seemed short staffed. We had 2 different waiters. Food came slowly and waiters had to be reminded. I've been here before and never had this kind of service, so I am hoping this is a one-off situation.

    Our server was very slow and seemed quite inexperienced. He forgot most of our order and we spent a lot of time waiting. The food was tasty, but the service was not up to par.

    We have season tix at Berkeley Rep and occasionally also go to Aurora. We r regular diners- best place for pre- theater dinner. last night we had the mezzie plate - very nice. entrees: Cod: perfectly grilled w awesome potatoes and veggie Duck: Tender and flavorful Veggie Paella: wonderful texture and flavor Kale salad w chicken: The best kale ever! dessert: Pannacotta, capicinno and whiskey - all just right Server ( young woman from Venezuela) was charming and efficient overall the same wonderful experience we’ve come to expect on a regular basis

    Fabulous fine dining from passionfruit margaritas through perfect Royal Miagi oysters on to a seafood feast of oysters, clams, mussels impeccably matched with a masterful blood orange salad - every bite a triumph! The charcuterie plate was divine, with Revival-picked veggies to complement each tasty bite. LOVE the ambiance, makes me feel like I am in Paris. Ten out of Ten!

    Note: This is only an anecdotal experience and probably doesn’t characterize everyone’s experience here but here is my input for my visit. The food was expensive and mediocre for such small portions. There were points at which I waited 20 minutes for a server to pass by. The servers were not very nice to me. The ambience was fine but nothing mind blowing.
