Rockafellas of Salem
Rockafellas of Salem is a premier casual restaurant experience located in the historic downtown area of Salem. The Daniel Low building was built back in 1826 and has since housed a variety of businesses as well as the First Church that built it. Rockafellas of Salem embraces this rich history with a premier atmosphere and an exceptional, yet casual, menu.
The Rockafellas of Salem menu is varied enough to meet the craving of everyone in your dining party. Start with the hog wings – yep, pork wings. Perhaps not the result of special flying pigs but tasty nonetheless with Kansas City BBQ sauce and ranch dressing for dipping. The flatbread menu has plenty of great options including decadent fig and prosciutto. Just be sure you save room for Reese’s peanut butter pie or lemoncello mascarpone layer cake.
Restaurant was nice. A little old world which made it appear more upscale. The food was good and the service by Zachary was good. The restaurant was cold....had to put coat on to finish eating which was both bulky and uncomfortable. The staff should better manage the comfort of the diners. At first I thought it was just me, but as I looked around, men and women throughout the restaurant had been eating with their coat/jacket on.
Food delivered incorrectly and cold. Charges $3 for condiments.
Food was mediocre. Short ribs served dry.
Wait staff was rude. Never came by to check on us or refill drinks until after we finally had to get manager to assist in getting warm food. Try another place for lunch.
Service = fail. They did not want our money. We wanted to order more but our server Kayla didn’t come around. I watched her bus tables AFTER I flagged her down and she said before right with you’ and she never came until I flagged her down again. The team that delivered the food to the table didn’t want to take orders. They dropped food and tried to rush away and when we asked for another item their response was, ‘we’ll send your server’, and she never came.
The manager of staff should really take a hard look at what they hold staff accountable to because no one that came to our table had a goal of having us be satisfied. They were focused on a transaction and moving to the next priority. They were not focused on our needs. They may succeed short term due to volume but that crappy service standard will catch up to them and be their end.
We left and spent our money down the street.
The Curry Chicken Eggrolls are excellent, service was good.
They were very patient with me while my boyfriend parked. Plus had good service when he finally did. Very good customer service!
Don’t try to use open table rewards here refused to take
My family and I came here for dinner tonight. We live up the street from this place and my daughter and I came here regularly over the summer. I understand that at this time the restaurants in the area are overwhelmed by tourists but we had a terrible time. With lack of service, cold food, and no apologies, we won’t be back. And it’s a shame because we came here so often. I’m just done and I hope people visiting won’t tolerate this poor level of service.
Great restaurant! The bacon baked macaroni and cheese was incredible!
Other than a great location, not much positive to say about this restaurant. You will find better quality food at Denny’s. If you are in the area and looking for a restaurant, I highly recommend skipping Rockafellas and going to The Ledger next door.
Good food. Great service and great music after 9pm. Didn’t see the ghost.
Went for my birthday and had a great time! The food is delicious and the service is spectacular! We brought our own cake in and they gladly took it to keep in the kitchen until it was time to bring out and when it was they surprised me by singing happy birthday as they brought it out. They made me and my guests feel very welcome and I will definitely be returning when I'm back in Salem!
The food was mediocre and the apps and entrees all came out at the same time. The server said it was because the kitchen was backed up but the restaurant was mostly empty at the time. To be fair, the manager gave us $15 off the bill due to the inconvenience, which we appreciated. Would not recommend to friends, however.
We had great food, great service, and it was easy to make a reservation.
Was decent food
Amazing service and excellent food. Also a great selection of drink options, including wine flights and local beer flights. Highly recommend. We will be back next time we are in town!!
We were kind of skeptical because of the mixed reviews but the menu fit our family so we decided to try it. The staff and server were great! Food was good too.
I used to live in Salem and hadn’t been back to Rockafellas in years. We were all very pleased with our meals and the staff! In fact, it exceeded our expectations. Definitely a good option for an enjoyable dinner out with family.
The meal and waiter were awesome but the poor smug attitude of the two hostesses outside left us with a bad taste and will never return due to this.
Made a reservation through open table. We were sat right away however left after 20 minutes because a server never came to our table. We watched multiple tables get sat and servers go right up to them. Highly disappointed with the service as we made a reservation in advance.
First pick whenever in Salem
Other than a brief issue with the reservation, which they couldn't find (but a table was still provided,) everything was fantastic. The food was phenomenal- the ambiance, decor, and friendly and helpful wait staff all made for an excellent dining experience.
We celebrated my son’s college graduation, everything was great.
Awful, awful, AWFUL food. Gross bar food. Almost not even edible. Save yourself the trouble and go to one of the many other better restaurants in Salem.
Had a table for 4 on mothers day. Service was good as were the prices. The table had salmon, eggplant tower and steak. All were cooked perfectly and tasted great!
The food was good. Although they have poutine on the menu, but their version is basically cheese fries. Poutine should use cheese curds and have more gravy.
Very nice Mother's Day Brunch. Good food at reasonable prices. Pleasant interior.
Food was excellent however the waiter never checked on us and seemed to rush us. He brought the check without asking and we planned on desert. Then when it was time for the check he was too busy talking to female customers. While waiting for him to bring back my card he stopped to talk with a female waitress.
The restaurant itself did not match the website. The food was meh, not what I expected.
St Patrick’s Day - management did a great job keeping us informed about our reservation; security/staff friendly and engaged; would have liked shepherd’s pie on the menu ‘-)
New Years Party - good food, nice crowd, music was okay (I do not think the band was bad but I believe the sound system cause vocals to get distorted). Restaurant did a great job at managing the attendees, as the crowd was energetic and fun, without getting too out of control (as some places do a New Years)
Went for NYE... had a beyond amazing time! Have been many times before since I went to Salem State, always blown away. Great food, great drinks, big portions, reasonable prices, great service. They made me and my date feel right at home, it was a fun time!
Big group on Xmas Eve
Food was delicious! I ordered steak tips and they melted in my mouth! Waitress was attentive and owner
Can around and chatted for a bit!
Great spot for casual dining, nice but comfortable, nice big bar and friendly staff
Our server was amazing! But the food is mediocre at best. For example the soup was served barely warm and tasted like the can it came from. The poutine fries were absent of cheese curds and instead had shredded cheddar but the shredded cheddar had rehardended since melting and just created a unappetizing glob of cold fries and hard cheese. My wife had fish and chips with probably the worst tartar sauce that's ever existed. Our server was amazing! And the food came pretty quickly. Those are my compliments.
A fun and friendly place, very good service and the food we ordered was excellent. I highly recommend the beef and beet salad. If was perfect!
Had confirmed open table reservation that was list or not honored. Had to ptoduce copy of lost ooen table confirmation to get tab lk e for 40 minutes later than orginal reservation. Food was subpar, drinks nit too good. Very noisy. Do not reccomend. Try some other restaurant.
I made a reservation through OpenTable, and upon arriving they said they don't accept reservations, and there was some sort of glitch in the system. They did manage to sit us outside relatively quickly, but we had to wait 20 minutes to have a waiter come over and take our drink order. Our meals took over 45 minutes to arrive, and our waiter didn't come to check in with us. With two small children the wait was very long and it was hard to keep them busy while we waited. Once our food arrived it was cold.
Overall, I do not recommend going to Rockafellas.
Was turned away at the door- Restaurant does not take reservations in October even though I was able to make them through open table. Will not return.
We had some friends coming in from out of town and made reservations for Saturday night on Opentable. Upon arrival there was a huge line. When we spoke with the staff they told us they are not doing reservations in October. I subsequently showed the waiter the reservation confirmation I received which he said they could not honor. The waiter was extremely smug and rude to us. When I asked for the manager he went off to speak with the manager. When he came back he said the manager said we have to wait. We ended up going to Ledger next door and couldn’t have been happier with Rockafellas turning us away, their food is definitely not worth the wait.
