What Insiders Are Saying
San Fermo is a charming Italian restaurant in an old house where an indie rom-com would take place. Use it for a first date in Ballard.
We love this place, portions are small but we go for special occasions
San Fermo has some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten. They take traditional dishes and make them their own by using non traditional ingredients. The flavors they come up with are genius. The service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is amazing!
Great service and a super brunch menu.
I've always wanted to try San Fermo and I was so glad I got the chance. Everything was excellent. The only thing better than the amazing service and ambiance was the food. I highly recommend.
The food was great. The service was not. We waited over an hour after our appetizer to receive our dinner. The table next to us has sat down, got appetizers, their dinner and their bill all in the time it took for us to receive our dinner. Food was amazing, unfortunately the service was not.
Sat on the patio which was perfect! Service and food were amazing!
Sitting outdoors on a summer night at San Fermo is a joy.
Food was delicious! Try the Bolognese and polenta/sausage.
We went to San Fermo to celebrate and it was the perfect place for our quiet two person party. Lovely on a weekday evening. The food was fantastic and all the staff was very attentive.
We must have gotten a bad chef because it was extremely salty. I wish we would have made it clear it was not editable as we told waiter otherwise to avoid conflict in front of friends.
Really liked San Fermo and we’ll be back! This was our first time & thought the food was a little rich & the service was just good but we’ll definitely return. Cheers
Wonderful food. The service was lacking just a bit. Took a while to get our main courses. But overall, some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. The carbonara was the best I’ve ever had, even above carbonara in Italy!!
The outdoor seating was wonderful. The food was spectacular. Wine list and cocktails also very good. Loved the burrata and Cesar salad.
Amazing food (and butter)! They greeted us with Prosecco for our anniversary. Fantastic service - wouldn’t hesitate to return or refer.
My favorite restaurant in Seattle. Best pasta, never disappoints.
The music they played was horrible but everything else was very romantic! Just say no to ‘80’s pop on date night.
Yummy food. Our server was very helpful throughout the entire night! Great ambiance and over all vibe.
It was amazing! Highly recommend.
Our server, Kelly, was terrific! Great personality, efficient, didn’t over-pour our wine (we ordered a bottle to share), let us savor our appetizer before having our main course delivered. AND OUR MEALS WERE DELICIOUS! Thank You!!
Super Yum -
The atmosphere was great! Food and service was also great but think smaller portions!
Everything was perfect, highly recommended.
We had an overall okay experience because the food was amazing. The only downside was it was a warm evening and we wanted to try and sit outside but was told nothing was open which was fine. We get seated and then hear the host tell another couple oh we will have a seat outside in about ten minutes if you want to wait. We would have waited the ten to fifteen minutes for outside seating but where not given the opportunity. Other than that the food was really good and presented very classy.
First time dining here and we really enjoyed it! The homemade pasta is a highlight and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
Cute place. Fantastic food. Great service. Reservations recommended. Has a back patio area fir additional seating but very small place. Food was really good.
This was our second time to San Fermo and we adored it just as much as the first. The food is amazing, very kind service. Cozy and cute atmosphere
San Fermo is always a win. The service is amazing, the food is outstanding, and the vibe is so cozy and nice. Highly recommend!
Took my parents here and it’s my moms new favorite restaurant when they are in town.
Amazing server and amazing food! A go to favorite!
The atmosphere is always charming at San Fermo, but this particular evening the music was just a bit loud, which I think caused patrons to raise their voices to be heard. Our salad course was delicious and fresh, and the pastas that we ordered were of the season and perfectly prepared. Everything came out very quickly, and we were in and out in an hour (not exactly what we had planned, but OK). We will return to San Fermo another time.
Great food and atmosphere, love the building! Thank you to the waitress who went along with my dad's jokes and brought us small forks!
The food was fine...but it was so expensive. Food and drinks for 4 cost $250.00. It just seems like the food should be spectacular at those prices. And it was just fine. The patio seating was nice and it was not noisy so we could have great conversation while we dined.
The waitstaff (assigned to our table) was quite pushy, and seemed impatient about taking our order...
otherwise the place still remains a great local spot :)
We've been to San Fermo in the past and it was flawless. On our last visit we were entertaining my son from out of town. The food was excellent as always, but the service completely lacked the warmth it usually has. The order of food was rushed, our entrees arriving before salads were done. Wine order not being filled until entrees were half gone (and that was with an attempt to wait). Very very poor. They add a 20% service charge to the bill. I am in favor of that, but 20% is supposed to be for a service level above normal. This was well below. We'll likely return, but this definitely left a bad taste in our mouth. The gentleman at the table behind us, from the "industry" as we heard couldn't stop saying F-this and F-ing that throughout our meal. Really loud and annoying. Too bad for such a quaint little restaurant.
First time here for Restaurant Week, the rabbit, spaghetti bolognese and bruschetta was delicious, and their panna cotta was honestly the best one I have ever have in my life. Our waitress was very attentive and provided suggestions for our first time there and the overall restaurant gives off a homey feel. Will definitely be back!
Food quality was lower than we have experienced at least six times over past two years. Caesar salad was less tasty and pasta carbonara was gummy and too thick. Beverages and service was very good as usual.
Lovely service and ambiance. Some of the best Italian food in Seattle
Cozy place ! The variety in the menu is ok, I think it could have a few more entree options.
The food was very good.
The food was amazing! Small menu but they really focus on the quality. Very cozy and wonderful ambiance.
Discovered San Fermo through restaurant week, and I will happily return! The atmosphere and decor is modern yet cozy, and the open kitchen design allows an irresistible aroma of authentic Italian to waft through the restaurant. The menu is unique and often changing, ensuring fresh products and delightful dishes.
The host was prompt and very nice, the waitress did the bare minimum, not even close to the good enough to warrant the 20% surcharge. The panacotta was was astounding best dish wall night and my pasta was perfectly cooked! Another great choice for restaurant week
