Terrific menu. Food was delicious. Highly recommend.
Pasta was great. Crudo dish was not. Wait staff was awesome and friendly. Over-priced.
We had an amazing experience. Our server chose our dishes and wine pairings, everything was great. The highlight, other than the service was the short rib pasta. The patio seating was super nice as well!
The evening at Scarlett’s topped off a great weekend in Newport. And was our favorite meal.
The waiter made amazing suggestions, and the patio was comfortable and quiet.
Far exceeded our expectations
We will be back.
We have eaten out every night while on vk in Newport and this was by far the worst meal of the week. The spaghetti was spicy with a ton of pepper in it and was literally an appetizer portion for $19. My Hainaut was dry and had no flavor whatsoever. The highlight was the short ribs appetizer that was fantastic. The meal costs $450 for one adult 2 17 year olds and 3 kids. Total waste of money.
Beautiful place! The charred octopus was a little pass charred and more on the burnt side. Asked for lemon, never got it. Then for dinner I had the Gnochetti which was amazing with crab. My boyfriend had the halibut and it was also very good. Asked for lemon again, and never got it again. Food 4 stars, service 3.
We love Scarpetta! Always delicious from start to finish. The best grilled octopus! Large deck with a beautiful view of the Jamestown bridge.
Service was absolutely amazing. Despite a very big dinner wave rush that came in, I never felt like we were forgotten about
The food at Scarpetta was phenomenal! The hostess was very pleasant. Our waiter was a bit pushy and rushed, which took a little bit away from the overall experience. We will definitely be back!
Honesty, very disappointing. With all due respect, I get the Covid situation, restaurants having to make many last minute changes and dealing with challenges, BUT we waited for 45 minutes (in the lobby with masks without even being offered water) after our 8:30 reservation, then sat a good 10 minutes before someone came over with water and bread, put in a cocktail order, 10 minutes later the waitress came back to ask for our drink order. My husband nicely said we already ordered drinks from you. She literally looked shocked and stared at us for a solid 10-15 seconds and walked away, proceeded to come back with the drinks and apologized for not paying attention. We originally felt bad for her and tried to think ok maybe she’s had a long night and let’s enjoy, we’re finally sitting; after waiting for a water refill many times, barely any seafood in a dish described as frutti di mare, ended up ordering an additional third meal total, in which it was somewhat obvious the original meal wasn’t good, we felt frustrated with the entire experience. The food was just so so, nothing spectacular. We’ve been to many nice restaurants all over NYC and beyond, and this just didn’t make the cut. Overall, not worth the money and just has the hype of the name.
Dinner was excellent. They were very accommodating to a Celiac gal -which was so nice. The portions are on the smaller side for the price. Halibut was outstanding and my son said his duck was the best he’s ever had. We would definitely go back.
The food just wasn’t as good as it used to be. My daughter got plain spaghetti and the sauce had no flavor. I got scallops - the flavor was good but the first serving clearly sat under a heater for a long time (the plate was hot but the scallops weren’t and they had gotten rubbery), the second time around the scallops didn’t sit under a heat lamp as long but they were still barely warm. My son got the duck and it was 3 tiny pieces. He was starving when we left. There are so many amazing options in Newport sadly scarpetta is no longer on our list.
Fit for foodies ... dining outdoor on the patio was fabulous!
Scarpetta lives up to its pricing. The food was incredible! I had the best pasta of my life at this restaurant - the Short Rib and Bone Marrow Agnolotti. GET IT!
The service and food were absolutely amazing and they went above and beyond congratulating us on being married the day before with champagne and dessert. Everything and everyone was wonderful and I can't wait to go back!
The worst experience in a long time. I’ve been to both NY & Miami locations and they were amazing. This location is a sad attempt at what I expected from the name Scarpetta.
830 reservation, did not seat us u til after 9p. Other than that it was a nice place
Amazing service, great sophisticated food by the water! How much more can you ask!?
Service was disappointing. We were supposed to have a 930 reservation and got there a little early since it was a later time. We ended up not getting seated until 10, just to be rushed out by 11. I understand there are stricter guidelines now on when they should close, but we even got there early. The food was good, but not worth it for the price and experience.
Excellent food and service
Food was excellent and the environment was vibrant. Most notable was the quality of the service. Wait staff was professional, but had plenty of personality which made the interaction enjoyable and fun. They gave us space and time to enjoy the meal, but never allowed a drink to sit empty. Overall a great experience and I will certainly return.
Thank you for making our first visit back such a wonderful evening!
First day open, the service was a little spotty. They still need to work out their kinks
Food expertly prepared. Menu is limited. A bit pricy for the portions. but we enjoyed tasty meal.
Great service, delicious food. Too many small children at 5 30pm in a very expensive restaurant.
This restaurant is overrated. Wine by the glass was below average and pricey. No great beer selection either. The bread was very good
My wife and I stayed at the accompanying hotel and ate at this restaurant on Valentine's day. Overall, it was a decent meal, with some hits and misses. I would try it again.
Very nice views of the water here, but the decor is a little sterile. Not a drop of color anywhere. You wouldn't really know you're at an Italian restaurant at all if it just relied on its atmosphere. Still - everything was clean and nicely maintained. Just not much character.
They had a nice beginning with various breads, salted butter, olive compote, and olive oil. For our appetizer, we had roasted Brussels sprouts , which were a little disappointing to be honest. Not quite cooked all the way through, so they kind of had a boiled texture. The sauce was the saving grace for me, but not enough to order it again.
My wife had a duck entree, while I had an oxtail pasta dish. My pasta dish was nice overall. Simple but quite good. My wife's duck was cooked well, but they only serve two cut strips of the breast. This was a little disappointing considering the price of the dish, and the duck started to dry out a bit. The sauce with it was good and helped. The portion of cabbage slaw, in contrast to the duck, was too large.
Now, I actually quite liked the desert - a chocolate cake with gelato. It was quite bitter-sweet, which I'm a fan of. My wife, on the other hand, does not enjoy bitter-sweet deserts. So it sort of depends on what your preference is. I'd ask your server to descriptions, as most deserts I've had in restaurants are not usually this far on the bitter spectrum.
Overall, I'd try it again. A little hit and miss, but enough hits for me to go back.
Yamil was great!
Our first experience at Scarpetta was amazing! Our server was attentive and funny. The food was tasty and plentiful. We will definitely be back during our next trip to Newport!
Although the food was quite good and the service was fine, the ambiance was like a diner with a nice view. Very noisy, small children climbing on furniture, people in jeans and t-shirts. Strictly a hotel/resort dining room, but no place for a nice night out or a special occasion. Very over-priced for the atmosphere.
New Year’s Eve dinner. Pre fix 4 course every course had 4 choices. We had 2 gluten allergy people and a dairy allergy. Very accommodating there was a way to serve everyone. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and new exactly what dish would work. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The atmosphere was very nice. I think they could benefit from a larger bar or more service bartenders as it took a little while to get another drink.
Perfect spot. Food was terrific
Our reservation was delayed about a half hour on Christmas Eve and service was slow to begin with but then picked up. Food was excellent which made up for the delays.
Had a great Christmas Eve dinner with family. Our disabled family member in a power chair was looked after lovingly. Our baby grandson, too!
Bram was our waiter. Charming, bright and helpful with food and wine. Perfect!
Food is excellent every time and staff is really nice; however, the wait staff always seem to be in the weeds and don’t check on tables often enough. I’ve eaten here at this location about five times during different times of the year and it always seems to be the case. Perhaps there aren’t enough staff per tables or the system isn’t as efficient as it could be. Would still go back for the food though and the convenience of the restaurant when staying at the hotel.
Debra Lee was our server and made the experience wonderful. We are frequent diners at Scarpetta in NYC but spend weekends in RI and love the addition of the Newport location.
Portions are small for what you are paying. Menu is limited. Staff are attentive and place was pretty quiet albeit empty. View is pretty
We were expecting a higher level of food and ambiance, based on the Scarpetta that was in NYC.
The room must be beautiful in the daylight and I the summer but on a chilly Nov evening, it was just plain, noisy and there was a bit of an attitude at the reception desk. The “valet parking” was $20 even though the parking spaces were in a public lot. We obviously won’t be back.
Amazing yellow Tail, a must have! We also had the spaghetti which sounds basic, however this is not your average noodles with marinara. I am not a past person (wife is), and she specifically wanted to go for this dish. I would get it again in a heart beat... absolutely phenomenal! Service was impeccable, we ordered too much food and they graciously took it off the check. Great place for a special occasion, you will not be disappointed!!
Dinner was incredible. Every course was better than the previous. The crudo tasting and polenta appetizer were show stoppers. Service was on par. We ordered a lot of food. Tabitha coursed it perfectly. We’re only in town for 3 days and are contemplating going back before we leave.
