   The food was good, but wasn’t great. The service was good, but they didn’t inform how much it would cost for substitutions. Overall, pricey for a one Michelin star restaurant.

   The service was great, but almost every dish apart from the complementary bread was far under seasoned.The apps(the cavatelli and tuna tartare) were both begging for some salt, as were the steak, potatoes, and duck in the main course. With something as rich as a ribeye covered in butter, paired with potatoes also layered with butter and creamed spinach, the complete lack of salt made the experience feel heavy and a little hard to get through. The duck was also cooked very interestingly, with there being a large temperature gradient from medium rare to medium well on the two pieces of duck in the entree. I did ask for it medium, so the average I suppose was correct. Unfortunately, the dessert (home made icecream and chocolate cake) were forgettable and the poor execution on the food really makes it hard for me to recommend this place to anyone.

   Date night for a couple that has been married for 34 years. First timers at this restaurant and we are already talking about going back. Started off the e wining with cocktails, their Duke martini and a lemon drop. Both done really well the way a martini should be. Chef brings out 2 oysters to start off our evening. Great start. The. We ordered the Cavatelli and tuna tartare with the best potato chips to start. For our entrees we opted for the Wagyu rib eye and Hokkaido scallops knowing we were going to share and make our plates a surf and turf. Perfect decision. For dessert we chose the midnight chocolate cake complete with gold leaves and the cruellers cause who doesn’t love freshly made donuts? Chef also brought out oysters on the half shell with a gelee of some sort, so yummy. To end the meal he also brought out chocolate mints an a blood orange jelly candy. Great meal and such good attentive service provided by Jessica. We can’t wait to go back.

   Such a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday! Selby’s has a beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, and fabulous food! Servers are there when you need them but are never intrusive. There are multiple items to choose from for each of the three courses. We’ve tried many and all are delicious. Whether it’s a special occasion or you want a fantastic meal, Selby’s won’t disappoint.

   Wonderful, unique and classy - terrific service, menu and food. The ambience is 30’s supper club perhaps, with 60’s soundtrack (maybe just a teeny snidge loud?) Such a fun experience, wish we hadn’t waited so long to try it. The Village Pub is our go-to for special time but this group doesn’t make a misstep.

   Could be luck of the draw - for a restaurant that is designed to be elegant and classy, the service was a major let down. inattentive, uninspired service with an automatic service charge to add insult to injury. The food was very good; the appetizers and entrees were very good. the halibut was outstanding. the vegetarian entree (pithivier) was bland. we were seated upstairs against the back wall, lighting was very poor with the lights not focused on the table - made seeing the menu almost impossible. maybe the idea was to hold up the candle to read - quaint but not convenient. easily fixed. the service though needs a lot more training. nowhere close to Michelin standards of warm hospitality and unobtrusive but attentive service...too bad - went in with very high hopes...better service might've made all the difference...

   The ambience is good for date night or birthday celebration. Food was great and fresh. My husband got the wagyu and the portion was huge. Loved their midnight chocolate cake. The sweetness was perfect and it was not overly sweet. We also tried their blood orange sorbet, which was my favorite. It got a little bit tartness and was so refreshing after all the food we ate.

    What a fantastic dining experience! Went to celebrate my partners birthday and the evening did not disappoint! We were warmly greeted and seated promptly upon arrival. All staff that came to our table wished him a happy birthday. We were treated to complimentary oysters to start followed by salads we chose for appetizers. He ordered the ribeye, I ordered the petite fillet. Both phenomenal! A petite birthday cake was presented to him- berry, fluffy and light! To round off the end of the night I ordered the chocolate cake and he ordered the cruellers. Delish! Impeccable service and fantastic food! It’s safe to say we will be back to celebrate many more occasions!

    I think my waitress is a bit mean and disrespectful. I also think they sent us too few items. Even for my birthday, I did not get a small cake but just an ice-cream ball. They totally ignored my request I wrote on Open Table. The food is good but not very impressive. You always have to pay for upgrading your food. I would not go to this place again.

    We have missed going out to dinner. COVID has taken that wonderful experience away from us. As we started going out to dinner at various good restaurants on the peninsula over the the last 15 months or so ,we found it was no longer that transporting experience.The service was bad ,the chefs were new ,the food was mediocre and the prices had gone way up. But last night this all changed with Dinner at Selby's. The room was large and inviting, the service (Jessica) was impeccable and the food was a delight. Presentation was excellent and the taste sublime. Finally better food than we cook at home. Take your sweetheart to Selby's asap. You will both remember the joys of dining out and being transported.     One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. It was the ribeye. And the truffle burger was good and interesting. I’ve been to many steakhouses and it is top 3, maybe the best.

    Small dining room on main floor. Very noisy for 6:15 reservation. Very limited menu. Generally food very good. Service somewhat stilted. And VERY expensive. Small type on menu indicating supplement charges. Overall 7 out of 10.

    1. We waited 30 minutes for our table to be ready. 2. Our 1st round of drinks took 20 minutes to get to us then they were incorrect. We told them They were wrong and they brought new ones and pulled them off the bill. 3. I told them it was my sisters birthday upon arrival and they never did a thing about it. Completely forgot which was super upsetting. 4. I had to flag down our waitress to ask to order a drink because she had too many tables. 5. For a table of 4 people 20% gratuity was included but only disclosed at the bottom of the main receipt. Thankfully we saw it! It was not a 20% service worthy meal. Overall it was a disappointment. It’s a beautiful restaurant and quite a splurge for poor service.

    Fantastic atmosphere. There are 2 levels the upstairs is quieter than the downstairs. It's cozy, romantic, warm and just a relaxing place to have dinner. The whole environment feels special and different from other crowded, loud, cramped neighborhood restaurants. Great for a special occasion. The food was solid but nothing truly innovative. It's a solid good meal in a relaxing location.

    Food at this restaurant is very good, however it does fall short of the price tag that is being charged. We were seated at a less than desirable table at first, right next to the server station, which was unexpected considering there were half a dozen empty tables when we arrived and we had a reservation with a special occasion as a note to the restaurant. We were promptly moved when I mentioned it to the waiter. Parking is a bit of a challenge, however they do valet.

    Lovely dinner was really impacted by extremely loud kitchen staff. There seems to be no door to the kitchen, so the entire meal was spent listening to “I need 2 more scallops and a filet”. Followed by “where are my scallops?” The entire experience seemed less than expected in terms of service and ambiance.

    A little understaffed, understandable after the pandemic, but kept up with all the basic fine dining experience you'll expect. Food is excellent for the menu price. You hardly can find a $98 three course menu with a Michelin star in the bay area.

    What a wonderful experience, from start to finish! From the warm welcome with a “Happy Anniversary” card at the table to the very friendly service to the excellent food and wine - everything was very special. At $98 pp prix fixe plus some supplemental charges, it is not an inexpensive place! But for a special occasion, it is well worth the splurge!

    Last night’s dinner at Selby’s was one of the best fine dining dates I’ve ever experienced! From reception staff, to helpful/friendly bar staff, knowledgeable wine steward, and especially serving staff—made the evening delightful. Our food choices were delish too; chef was able to modify some dishes to accommodate food allergies. Can hardly wait to return to Selby’s.

    overall a good experience. Service was better than food. seemed like the Halibut was a bit over cooked. will try one more time and hope to have a better experience.
