What Insiders Are Saying
Spinasse in Capitol Hill is one of the best fork-up-your-money Italian restaurants in Seattle.
We have loved Spinasse however this time was less than impressive. The pasta with pork and beef ragu was exceedingly salty. The cavatelli with lamb sauce better but in the past, the food has felt head and shoulders above other higher end restaurants. This time not so much. Service was good. Noise level was higher than I remember during past dining experiences. I guess when dinner for 2 comes to around $160 for salads, a question of house wine, pastas, a shared dessert and coffee, I expect more.
Spinasse is one of my favorite restaurants in Capital hill! The staff is so friendly and extremely knowledgeable on their food and wine list. Would highly recommend.
So good! Everything. If 100% go back & recommend the whole menu. We ordered the trading menu which literally is the entire menu.
Food was original, but lacked flavor. Portion sizing was weird, I was served an entire fish, while my husband who got the special received 4 small rolls of beef. Staff were wonderful.
its just OK. if you are an Italian food Connoisseur, you might be disappointed Their signature dishes use angel hair pasta which was not ideal for the dish. the butter and sage dish was over powered by sage, so it was really the only taste you got.
The ambiance is also just OK- be prepared for no one to take your coat and hang it up... your doing that yourself. it's a bit too casual for what the food network says is one of the best Italian restaurants in the US.
Wonderful helpful staff, great food and wine!
One of my favorite restaurants in Seattle or anywhere else!
My favorite restaurant in Seattle. Great on so many levels!
Great staff, nice place.
Food was honestly, quite ordinary
Excellent in every respect, and such a beautiful and cozy room!
As always, Spinasse delivered. Great meal which was enhanced by a really great server, Kathleen. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and fun, and she really made the meal memorable. I was with two colleagues who travel extensively and dine in great restaurants all over the world, and our experience at Spinasse was equal or better than the best of the best.
The food was fresh and delicious. A little disappointing to not have coffee or tea available.
We did the tasting menu and it was such a good deal for the price but it is ALOT of food, come hungry! Everything was amazing!
The food was amazing! I have never had broccoli prepared that way, it was so delicious! The pasta was fantastic.
Very pleasant evening, the food and service were excellent. Everything we ordered was very tasty and beautifully presented. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended.
Victoria is an amazing server. She selected the most delicious things to eat and drink!
Mai’tre D’ was rude! We were getting drinks during Happy Hour at the bar owned by the restaurant. Our reservation was for 530. Right at 530 he started to rush us out the door. He could have given us a little more time at the bar. He said we could take our drinks but not the appetizers we ordered.
Also portions were very small. I ordered the pasta ragu for the large size. It didn’t look very large. I wasn’t impressed with this restaurant and will not go again.
The pasta is unbelievable. Charming space and I loved the open kitchen/window to watch the action. Unique dishes so try it all!
Everything we were led to expect. Memorable.
Seemed a bit over rated but still overall a good dinner. Would not say it’s the best restaurant in Seattle as Infatuation led me to believe.
Everything was perfection
Best Valentine’s date dinner ever!
This place isn’t just the best in Seattle or even the USA but globally!!! We’ve travelled the world and found this gem in our own city.
I have been dining at Spinasse since it opened. The food quality is excellent but because of the cost it is always special occasion experience. However after dining there this past Wed I will rethink going back ever. For 250$ one does not want everything piled on the table in less than 45min- with half of it Luke warm from kitchen misfire. The real tragedy was the manager who did not want to do anything to correct our experience until after the bill arrived. And I had the displeasure of having to ask her why this was acceptable for the heavenly rated Spinasse. Breaking my heart because the agnolotti and rabbit appetizer were amazing.
Love this place. One of the best restaurants in Seattle.
The food was great as was the wine. Loved our waiter.
Spinasse does not disappoint!
Loved this dining experience!
Celebrated 2 birthdays with friends. It was snowing so our friends were delayed, we were seated without them. That’s a big deal when the website clearly says all in the party need to be there to be seated and your table might be released after 15 minutes. Who knows if we just benefited from the bad weather or not, but we were glad. We brought our own wine, so we didn’t pick from what was on offer. The food was everything we’d heard about it. In many ways the best Italian we’ve had, including in Italy. The approach was fresh, innovative, calm and uncomplicated, and represented the best of this winter season. Kudos to all. Here’s what we had. Everything was exceptional.
We ordered the sampler antipasto that gave tastings of all four on the menu: prosciutto de Parma, Insalada cicoria, Bietole e Formaggio Di Capra (roasted beets), porchetta tonnata). Because we needed to gild the Lilly, we also ordered the Uovo con fonduta (crazy cheese fondu with a poached egg). There was plenty to share. We noticed other diners with just one antipasti, and the portions were substantial. For the Primi or pasta course we ordered two at the suggestion of our gracious and helpful wait staff; the Tagarin con Butrro e Salvia (thin pasta with butter and sage) and Agnolotti Di Coniglio (braised rabbit stuffed angnolotti with double brodo). Secundi was off the hook: Capunet (Swiss chard wrapped braised beef) and Anatra (pan seared duck breast).
Finally, we had all four of the desserts on offer that night; Torta al Cioccolato, Zuppa englese, Tiramisu, and Panna Cotta.
I should note that reservations are pretty much required, but there was space at the bar throughout the evening. Perhaps it was all the snow keeping folks home, but you might get a bar seat without planning ahead.
Best Italian restaurant in Seattle bar none. Maybe the world.
Went here for my wife’s birthday and she loves Italian food. We’d never been, and I reserved based on great reviews. DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Food was outstanding, service was fantastic. Overall a great experience. I would recommend this restaurant very highly and we would absolutely go back.
It is a bit pricey...but you definitely get what you pay for.
5 stars all the way around, and if I could give them 6 out of 5 I would.
Amazing restaurant! Everything we ate was delicious and did not dissapoint. Can't wait to go back.
We were recommended Spinasse by our daughter as a place to have dinner for our anniversary. It was a fabulous meal! Our waiter was helpful in suggesting dishes & portions so we could try multiple dishes. It was all so delicious!
This was our second time doing the full tasting menu at Spinasse, along with wine pairings. The meal was wonderful. The only thing stopping me from giving a full 5 stars across all categories is that one of the mains (the duck) was technically perfect but lacking flavor/creativity, and the server could have spent a bit more time explaining each course. For a special occasion, Spinasse is an absolute delight. If you are doing the tasting menu, taste! Don't try to finish every course. We were delighted to take home several small boxes with our leftovers.
Outstanding dining experience, one of my favorite restaurants ever. The staff is knowledgeable and simply amazing, the food is executed to perfection.
I am from out of town so unfortunately for me is a rare event but it will part of my every Seattle trip from now on.
I love their butter sage pasta. It’s unbelievable! The food in general is just incredible. The waitress was very nice & service was good but I wanted to order the Semifreddo to go and apparently “the chef doesn’t like to do that” which I think is ridiculous. I was going 5 mins down the road besides if I want melted semifreddo & pay for it, isn’t that my choice? Guess not.
It was good but didn’t overwhelm our group of 4. We spent about $400 including wine for 4 people. Ordered 2 appetizers, 1 shared salad, 3 first courses (small size) and 1 large main dish plus a side of the carrots. Honestly I was still hungry. The portions are fairly small for the price. Delicious food but nothing super mind-blowing that I’ll crave to go back for. Many people had hyped up this place as one of their favorites. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but we likely won’t return. The $95 bottle of wine we had was underwhelming. I’ve had better from grocery store.
Amazing service, quality food
Luis absolutely killed. Our meal was so phenomenal. Tasting menu was great, a ton of food, excellent to get a good sense of the menu too. Will certainly be back for more.
We wanted a special dinner to celebrate my daughter’s first big job after graduating college and relocating to Seattle. After hours of research, we selected this restaurant. Without question, the most delicious meal we have had in a long time. Every dish was superb! We ordered two desserts, both very fair portions and worthy of licking the plate with our tongues! Katelynn, our waitress, was great as well. Just a great experience!
I was taken to Spinasse a year ago when visiting Seattle and was delighted then. I booked for a friend visiting from San Francisco on Saturday and we had the most charming evening . The food is sublime and the atmosphere congenial and friendly. The staff were very knowledgable and helpful in guiding us through the menu and wine choices. This is a standout restaurant. Thank you!
