Succotash PRIME is a progressive perspective of classic Southern favorites. James Beard Award winner Edward Lee brings his Korean roots and Southern repertoire to a soulful Southern Steakhouse menu.

SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified, and passed from generation to generation for centuries. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

First time at Succotash, just wanted a drink and something light before theater. Everything was fine, the server also was concerned with our ability to get to the theater on time. Thank you!

Went for Thanksgiving with my husband. Disappointed in some of the serving sizes, only one devilled egg (in essence half an egg) for example, was offered per person. And we were expected to share the Mac and cheese. Cornbread cakes were dry but the butter and jam served with them made up for it. I ordered the vegetarian option which was overly salty and lacked flavor. My husband ordered the meat option - wasn't asked whether he wanted light or dark meat and was only brought light meat. Desserts, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and green beans were all good. Overall the ambience and service were great, but the food was a let down for the price and I don't see myself returning next year.

We went to Succotash for their Thanksgiving Prix Fixe menu. I had heard great things about the food, so we were excited for their holiday menu. The service ruined the meal for us. After ordering drinks, we waited 30 minutes for them to arrive, only to have the wrong drinks delivered. No one returned with new drinks so we flagged down the manager, who then had our server return to ask what we ordered. 30 minutes later our drinks finally arrived (it was only a glass of wine and their premade cider). The food was subpar (and not warm), and wasn't delivered in a timely manner for a prix fixe menu. We felt terrible for the next table, who received all of their courses at the same time and they barely had room on the table for their drinks. Based on the food quality and service, I would never return to this restaurant. The ambiance is nice, but that doesn't make up for the service and food quality.

We had reservations and arrived 10 minutes early. We were seated at a table right across from the bar. We asked to be moved upstairs and was told that there wasn't anything available. Ok. But in less than 5 minutes, the couple that came in after us was escorted upstairs. The restaurant had a set menu for Thanksgiving which was fine. We were looking forward to the offerings. However, it took 30 minutes for us to get our starters after the server stopped by on three separate occasions to apologize for the delay. In the meantime, we saw other patrons receive their food in a timely manner. After waiting another 25 minutes of not receiving the main course, we decided to ask for the general manager to give us a check to pay for the salad, drink and deviled egg that we had eaten so that we could leave. She was unapologetic and very condescending. She didn't charge us for the food that we ate but needless to say, we went without Thanksgiving dinner! Very disappointed because we'd visited the restaurant on another occasion, and it was a different experience. That is why we chose this restaurant on such a special day.

Thanksgiving dinner. Beautiful space. Set menu so had high expectations that meal would go off without a hitch. Our salad was forgotten and brought out with main course plates. Food was generally good, but my stuffing had burned (well beyond crispy) parts and pecan pie tasted over-baked as well. Mac and cheese, salad, and green beans were very good. Service was slow. Very long lulls between starters (minus the forgotten salad) and main course and then between main course and dessert. I always feel bad when people have to work on holidays. Our server was nice, but you could tell she knew there were issues with food not being ready.

My wife, daughter, and I had Thanksgiving Dinner here at Succotash PRIME for a second year in a row. This year's dining experience was not as nice as last year. The service was very good, the entire wait staff did a good job. The disappointment was THE FOOD! While they give you ample amount of food, this year the food WAS NOT HOT at all, in fact, it was barely luke warm. A huge disappointment. Will not be going back next year for Thanksgiving.

The Thanksgiving menu was an embarrassment. Plate full of green beans, exactly a tablespoon of unseasoned mashed potatoes and dressing A slice of turkey and ham the exact size of my pinky finger. No rolls It was 2 extra mini previously frozen Costco tasteless corn muffins 1/2 deviled egg The salad was pretty best part of the thanksgiving meal. My server was dry and motionless like a mummy Borderline rude very inattentive. His name was G. Kwmane Either he was very tired, sick or just had issues Either way you should not have had him working on thanksgiving day I sat in what felt like a dark room The lighting was terrible it’s not sexy calming etc It was dark and gloomy It was very annoying. I had to ask twice to have the candle on the table lit just to be able to see my food. $215 for 2 people I promise I’ll never go back I should’ve make reservations at Ruth Chris. Lesson learned

We came in on time for our reservation, there were leather cushions seats and hard back seats available. She sat us in the hard back seats. We ask could we sit in the cushion sits and they told us no because we didn’t have a reservation;but we did. And then she said oh you need to have a party of 4 instead of just 2?!? But there were people sitting in the cushion seats with only 2 people. She sat people of color on the hard back seats and others in the cushion. Good wasn’t bad but I felt like I was in the 1950s segregation.

We were visiting DC and had dinner here. The space is beautiful and the staff were great. Overall, we had some fantastic food alongside some that really missed the mark. We started with the grilled prawns and wedge salad. Both were fantastic, especially the prawns — grilled perfectly with a fresh slaw. The salad was very fresh. We then shared a petite filet with the onion-bacon jam and horseradish sauce for toppings. The steak was absolutely fantastic! The rub of spices and the char in it was delicious and the meat was tasteful and tender. The toppings, though, were really disappointing. My husband didn’t mind the onion-bacon jam, but it tasted more like it had the consistency of canned tuna fish rather than a jam. The horseradish sauce was essentially a cream sauce with the most minimal hint of horseradish. When I have a steak and am putting horseradish with it, I want to taste the horseradish! We also had the “old bay” mac and cheese. Sadly, there wasn’t an ounce of old bay taste to it. We had actually forgotten it was supposed to until we saw it on the bill! The taste was just missing something for me. The service was fantastic. Our server took time with us as we ordered. I had also ordered a glass of (expensive) wine that didn’t taste right to me — like the bottle had been opened for a while. The manager was more than happy to open a new bottle and pour me a new glass, and acknowledged that the first glass had not smelled great. I was made to feel heard and really enjoyed the fresh glass. Overall, it was a good dinner with a great steak and shrimp, but with some sides really missing the mark on flavor.

Love going coming here before Capitals games. Food is great and the service is usually very good. I did try to get two tables put close together, not next to each other, just somewhat close. I added note in my reservation, called the day before, asked when we got there but they "couldn't do it" even though there were two empty tables next to each other on the second floor that other people sat at shortly after we sat down. Not the end of the world, but didn't seem like the hardest request to fulfill.

We went for our anniversary dinner. The waitress took 15 minutes to greet us. Our drinks took 40 minutes to arrive after ordering. My drink was not what I ordered and it was substituted without my approval. In fact, my bourbon was substituted for a lesser value bourbon. Appetizers took extremely long to arrive as well, although tableware arrived shortly after ordering. Spacing in the restaurant is less than ideal. Due to this, you can hear your neighbors conversation over your own normal speaking voice. The noise level and proximity forces you to shout to be heard.

Loved it, waiter gave me a great recommendation when I asked what would pair well with the chicken & waffles (watermelon & peanut salad, since I was looking for something light to balance). Location is beautiful, and every single staff member that delivered food to the table was polite and attentive. It was my first time, and I will definitely be back with friends.

We had a spectacular brunch at Succotash. My wife tries shrimp and grits about everywhere. She declares the Succotash shrimp and grits the best she's ever had. Asked why and she responded that the crispy cheese crackers were a great addition and the shrimp was cooked the least possible of doneness, very fresh. I had the lobster eggs Benedict and it was fabulous. The eggs were perfectly poached and the biscuits had great texture and taste. For an appetizer we had the deviled eggs and can't say enough about those. The bacon jam deviled egg was the better of the two offered. All in all a great place.

Wait staff was extremely nice, even if overwhelmed and so a bit distracted. The real problem was the food. My companion’s chicken dish was brought to the table first, and my shrimp and grits didn’t arrive for another 20 mins. My shrimp and grits were served to me with completely uncooked shrimp. Not undercooked, completely raw. It took forever to get attention to point it out to the server and, when she took it back to get it corrected, it was another 25 mins before it came back out. A different server brought it back out, declaring “now it’s all re-heated for you”. And indeed the grits were re-heated (a microwave?) but most of the shrimp were still raw. I pointed this out to the wait staff and the manager then took my dish off the bill. While this was the appropriate minimum right thing to do, our meal was ruined. Neither of us are willing to return after this experience.

Went here for a date with my partner. I was immediately impressed by the atmosphere and architecture of the restaurant. My reservation was for 8 but I was sat as soon as I arrived (7:30 ish). The service was great, the chicken and waffles were crispy and flavorful, and the desserts and drinks were definitely standing out against the other DC restaurants I’ve been to. I was surprised to see the bill as I expected to be paying much more than I did. 2 entrees, 2 desserts, and drinks ended up being about $100. The food and experience was definitely worth the price, and both me and my partner had plenty of leftovers to bring home. The live music was a great atmospheric touch and the booth we sat at was visually pleasing and comfy. The hosts, servers, etc. were all polite and I plan on coming back soon!
