    The food really wasn’t anything to rave about. They struggled to accommodate a common food allergy and the overall price vs value seemed off. It wants to be upscale but it just missed the mark for us.

    Amazing food and service! Highly recommend the deviled eggs, chicken wings, and shrimp and grits. The spirit free Belle’s Kiss drink was on point. The staff was courteous, friendly, and attentive.

    Food was exceptional. Flavor profile was on a level that definitely require trying multiple dishes. Possibly the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had and the steak and blue salad was second to none.

    Our server was outstanding - pleasant and professional - helping with recommendations and there when we needed her. Other staff seem to pitch in as well, which is something I always like to see as it suggests concern for ensuring things are going smoothly for those dining and those serving. The food was delicious and we look forward to returning to try more dishes. My husband is looking forward to having leftovers from his Dirty Chicken, which the man who loves spice, said was wonderful, as well as shared grits with gravy and succotash. I was glad we were seated upstairs with a bit more breathing room than the main floor, which was much livelier. Thank you for a lovely meal!

    The food did not meet our expectations, The hushpuppies were incredibly dry, lacking salt and flavor. The fired chicken sandwich had little flavor and the fries tasted like they were store bought frozen fries with some sea salt thrown on top. I ordered a salad that never came. Over all just not a good experience. We were shocked because we were excited to try it after seeing it online and all it did was disappoint.

    Awesome service! Everyone was super nice and accommodating. It was Thanksgiving and they still made time for personal touches. Very much appreciated by all! The food was clever and tasty. Excellent southern charm and food!

    This was our first experience and it was a great place to eat! Our thanksgiving meal and specialty cocktails were exactly what we were hoping for when we made reservations. Our phenomenal waiter, fast service and amazing tasting plates are the reasons we will be back time after time.

    We dined here before a show at Ford’s Theater. Our waitress was good. The food ok. We ordered a bottle of white wine. We waited a while and the waitress finally came over and said the bottle we ordered was out of stock. We picked another. After a while she came over and said the bottle was not chilled.. did we want it chilled. Yes we did. We assumed it would be in a quick chill machine. Again after some time the manager came over to say it could not be chilled but did we want a bottle he brought over. We asked the cost and it was double the first two we ordered and he was going to charge the full price!!! Even after all this!!’ I will likely not go back.

    We really enjoyed the food and our server. I think because we were waiting for one person we were not able to be seated. We were just standing in the doorway waiting for our guest. I also noticed how all the black families were in the very back of the restaurant close to where the bathrooms were. My family was one of those families who were in the back of the restaurants. I really hope that isn’t something that happens all the time as this was my first experience here.

    Lucked into a parking spot, arrived on time for brunch, restaurant was empty but I was seated up a flight of stairs. My friend was not as lucky, drove around a while, then finally found a parking garage nearby, unfortunately she then needed to walk up 8 flights of stairs to exit the garage on that Sunday morning ... and she walks with a cane. So perhaps not the ideal restaurant choice if you won't be using public transit / Uber at that time of the day. Our wait staff was very attentive. The meal was mixed. Delicious appetizers (deviled eggs, sticky buns - we could have had more of both) but neither of us enjoyed our entrees (Dirty Chicken Cobb was awkward to eat, with a slab of warm, sauced-up chicken that wilted the salad greens underneath, and the Hangover Skillet was tasteless mush) and we left them half uneaten. I was glad to see my old friend, so that made the visit worth it, but pretty disappointing experience at Succotash.

    Great food! Modern adaptations on traditional southern dishes. We did the "family meal" which allowed us to try eleven different offerings. Portions were reduced to tasting but we were still stuffed. The shrimp and grits was our favorite, closely followed by the chicken and waffle. The setting is a very old bank retrofitted to a modern vibe. A great setting.

    Steak cooked to perfection. Wait staff very friendly. Atmosphere makes you feel special. Nice selection of original cocktails, emphasis on bourbon. Good selection of wines. Oregon Pinot Noir was excellent ($17/glass). Overall, very good dinner, very fine atmosphere.

    Server was awful- never brought us things we asked for. Had to ask for cutlery 3 times. Chicken and waffles were burned- couldn’t even convey this to our server because he never came by.

    Nikki our waitress was amazing. The restaurant offers a sampler of different dishes for brunch and it was amazing. I definitely need to come back to try other items in the restaurant, but also to get the chicken and waffles again. It was fun.

    Too noisy. Too much sauce over everything. The catfish was good; the chicken wings were tiny and in a bed of sauce that was more than expected or desired. A dipping sauce would have been a better option. Overall, we were very disappointed.

    Although my husband has already submitted a review, I am so impressed by our experience (Nov. 11th) that I have to share mine, too. We ordered “The Taste of the South” (which I highly recommend for first timers) and I can honestly say everything was savory, well-cooked, and inventive (flavoring). We were literally licking our fingers as we ate. The deviled eggs, the green tomato salad, cornbread, mac n cheese and collards all reminded me of my summers in my grandmother’s kitchen. Thank you for that priceless gift. Lastly, I have to give a shout-out to Nikki, our server. Nikki was amazing-Attentive, patient and had such an enthusiastic persona that it made our meal even more enjoyable!! Nikki even gave us a sampling of the French fries, which were like eating soft potato chips. We sampled, but did not use the spicy ketchup. The next time we are in DC Succotash will be a required stop. Best to Nikki and all the wonderful attendants who made us feel right at home.

    The meal was outstanding as always!!! Quality of the food is a step above. Some of the best Southern food in DC. The crab-cake appetizer is amazing! At our table, we had the chicken/waffle, ribs, and fish of the day (trout) - all were incredible. The room can be a bit noisy - but the food is worth the trade-off. Don’t miss this place next time you are in DC.
