Located in the bustling River North dining scene, Sunda offers a vibrant Southeast Asian dining experience, blending the flavors of Japan, China, the Philippines, Thailand, and beyond. We elevate culturally significant dishes using high-quality ingredients and modern techniques. Our beverage program includes signature handcrafted cocktails, a robust sake and wine selection, and Asian whiskies and beers. Join us for weekend brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 2pm, or stop by during happy hour Monday to Friday from 4-6pm featuring $6 bar bites, handrolls, and beer, $9 cocktails and wine, and $10 sake. Our venue hosts private events for occasions from corporate outings to rehearsal dinners, and we also offer catering services.

We have loved Sunda for years, but were disappointed with the experience recently. It was too loud to have a conversation and the service was very slow and disjointed. It seemed like the waitstaff and bar were just totally overwhelmed, but was not what we're accustomed to. A couple of our favorite dishes also weren't up to par. Hoping it was just an off night.

Martin provided outstanding service. We started with the Ginger MISO Salad which is enough fr 2-3 people, then had the beef lollipop, outstanding. Followed that with the salmon crudo, clearly fresh, delicious. I had the chicken inasal, tender, flavorful. and my companion had the island maki, it was ok, not as fantastic as chicken. Overall recommend Sunda. It is on the pricy side but wonderful

We were hoping for a lot more. . It was date night for us. We were hoping to have a great enjoyable meal and evening. It was Saturday night around 9:45pm. The restaurant was mostly empty. We waited for over 20 minutes to get something to drink. We had been there for nearly 45 minutes by the time our appetizer of edamame arrived. The edamame was very good. We proceeded with the steamed buns and egg plant. They had very little flavor and were not enjoyable at all. Our waiter seemed to have no interest in our table. We ended up not eating the steamed buns and leaving for a different restaurant.

Sunda New Asian in River North absolutely delivered one of the best dining experiences in Chicago. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was upscale, vibrant, and full of energy without feeling overwhelming. The service was top-tier — attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. Every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The sushi was incredibly fresh, the short rib melted in your mouth, and the bao buns were next level. You can tell there’s real attention to detail in every item coming out of the kitchen. The cocktail menu was also outstanding and paired perfectly with the meal. Whether you’re going for date night, a business dinner, or a night out with friends, Sunda sets the standard for modern Asian dining in Chicago. Easily a 10/10 experience and definitely a spot we’ll keep coming back to.

A must stop every time we are in Chicago. The Sweet Potato Caterpillar roll, Oxtail Potstickers, and the Crazy Rice are must trys. Service is always excellent and their recommendations were spot on!

Always a great experience at Sunda. Food is fresh, tasty and great quality. We took my mom for dinner. As a Filipina (and a harsh critic) she LOVED it.
