Japanese
Using local and seasonal ingredients is the most important element in Japanese cuisine. It also has become the primary principle for the international culinary community. With commitment to that philosophy, Tamura features sustainable seasonal ingredients of the Pacific Northwest in authentic Japanese preparation.

Tamura is a Kappo style restaurant where food is prepared in an open kitchen and served quickly in a lively environment where staff and guests talk about the food and beyond. Our goal is to become the very best restaurant to our guests by getting to know them and serving them in a personable yet professional manner.

*Please note that a 20% living wage charge is included (dine in only). The house retains 100% of these charges to help fund higher wages and benefits to all staff. Additional gratuity is not expected.

The food was delightful and our server was AMAZING. He was not only knowledgeable but passionate about the food and providing a one-of-a-kind dining experience. It has been YEARS since I received such exuberant and passionate service at a restaurant. If you have been feeling lack-luster about Seattle food service, or have lost a little or even most of your foodie love, this could be the place to revive you and your senses.

The best weekend brunch spot in Seattle. Try the "gozen" sets - delicious. Chawanmushi is smooth and savory, hearty beef-maitake nabe, sashimi... Always outstanding!

Sushi Kappo Tamura is consistently superb in the fish they procure as well as the other ingredients they serve. I always feel like I’m going to a friends house for dinner. They make you feel welcome and taken care of.

Taichi has one of the best sushi chef personalities, he makes eating at the counter a fun experience. Steve Tamura does an excellent job running operations. They make a dynamic duo producing delicious meals and ambiance.

SKT is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle!

Went for wife’s birthday dinner. Excellent food, well presented with friendly but not overly fussy staff. Unrushed meal with nice drinks choices. This is our second time visiting and the high standard of our first visit was heightened by a nice table side conversation with one of the staff. Arigatou gozaimasu, gotisousama desita!

By far sets the bar for Omakase. Chefs Omakase includes A LOT of food. I’ll be sure to try the sushi specific Omakase the last time, I was barely able to finish.

What a hidden gem. Located on busy Eastlake Ave, I've walked/driven past this place dozens of times and never given it a second look. I went here for Seattle Restaurant week. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, but the sake pairing really put the dinner over the top. Final note: do not skip their creme brule ... hands down the best I've had.

It's a beautiful restaurant, but overall it was a huge disappointment. The sushi rolls were poorly constructed, quite expensive, and neither classically authentic not particularly imaginative. The waitstaff were friendly but not very accommodating. And the bill comes with a disclaimer explaining that they have added a 20% gratuity to the check, which the restaurant itself will keep in order to pay wages. Next time we are in this neighborhood, we will just go down the street to I Love Sushi.

Wife and I did not even know this restaurant was there. We found it on the Seattle Restaurant Week list and decided to try it. The food is a Japanese fusion and is nicely done. Service was very friendly and helpful. At first glance, the bill seemed a bit pricey, but that is because 20% is already tacked on and the bill comes with a large strip of paper that clearly explains why. I had absolutely no problem with it. I strongly recommend this place but it is definitely not for someone on a shoestring budget.

They usually make great sushi and the chestnut creme brulee is to die for. Nice ambiance, rather quiet. It was our go-to sushi place for a while. But when we went for the Restaurants Week menu promo, the food was average and the fish did not seem that fresh (a bit dry, less tasty than usual). So maybe avoid promotions and go for the a-la-carte menu. It was a one-time event for a usually good restaurant, though, so we'll surely come back. But will keep exploring other places, too.

At the end of the meal I received a surprise 20% additional fee. That made the restaurant week 3 for 35 thing feel like deceptive marketing and really ruined my experience. Everything up to that point was great. When that came I felt lied to and deceived.

This was a great experience. My ratings were intended to imply what the words said- that is, 3 stars = good, not average. I found the experience was fantastic. The server was very knowledgeable and I appreciated her advice and input greatly. I enjoyed all the food, and I have very high standards for Japanese. My fiancee has been to Japan multiple times and agreed that the food was great. I prefer my restaurants quieter, and I found the noise level moderate - probably a little louder than I would like, but a little quieter than the average restaurant.
