I've had better experiences at Tawa Kitchen which I still highly recommend as the food is great and the owner and her brother are very attentive and lovely to chat with. They ensure customers are well-tended and go above and beyond with the service they give, especially the owner herself. That being said, on this occasion, the service from another staff member wasn't good. When being given our drinks and meals, they were simply handed to us to pass along to the next person at the table, instead of us being informed what exactly the meal was, so it ended up being a case of just passing along food around the table, not knowing what dish belonged to whom. At one point, my friend was handed a plate that he was then told (once it had been handed to him) that it was hot and to be careful. Surely, it would've been a better move to have placed the plate on the table instead of giving it to a customer to pass around?! Another gripe is that we had a group seated directly behind us which made conversation at times a little tricky and also movement (after finishing our meal), limited as we had to be careful not to knock their chairs when moving our own back to leave the table. I would still recommend a visit as I would say that whilst disappointing, the service we experienced on this occasion isn't indicative of how it generally is.

A meal of 2 halves. Starters were very good as too was the service initially. Drinks were ordered and they didn't have any cold beer. My main course arrived but my partners didn't - was told it's on it's way. Waited and asked again and was told that almost ready and on it's way. Then was told they don't have it and we should choose something else...by this time it was really too late. Asked for the bill only to find that the "missing" main course had been charged for. Asked that this be removed as we hadn't had it and was told "oops, sorry, that happens some time". Not great

The food was well up to our high expectations, having eaten there before. Friends with us who have been to India said the food was more authentic than usual Indian restaurants here. The service was outstanding, especially helpful in offering to move a large table outside for us because the evening was very warm.

The food was really lovely. Flavoursome but also light and delicate. The only thing that could have been better was it felt quite cramped. We (myself and 2 others) were sat on a small table that felt like it was for 2. It was tricky to fit our food and drinks on the table. However the service was warm and friendly and we would definitely return because of this and how good the food was.

Really good food, not like your normal curry house - very flavoursome and good quality ingredients. The only slight issue was that the door opens directly to the restaurant and as it was really cold that night there was a constant arctic blast coming in and was freezing!

All of the staff are incredibly kind and friendly. They are passionate about the restaurant they work at, and it shows! The food is the best in Cambridge, hands down. Incredible flavours and presentation. There were so many gluten free choices too!

We found Tawa on this app. The staff is very welcome and friendly. The service is excellent. The food is outstandingly well cooked and delicious. Portions are quite big. One dish which is smoked aubergine is extraordinary, we haven't tested it in any other Indian restaurants. The prices are reasonable. We were very satisfied and happy. Highly recommended.

Oh wow. Found Tawa completely by chance on Open Table and so pleased we did. Service was amazing - Ajay, Vilas and the team were just brilliant (we were ‘Ajay’d’!). Everything explained and real care taken to understand what we liked in terms of flavours. Vegan options are delicious. Everything was great but the standout was the starters. Have the Kurkuri Bhindi instead of poppadoms - you won’t regret it. Definitely try the Spicy Coconut Petis with some Masala Chips! Can’t wait to go back. Without doubt one of the best Indian restaurants (and most authentic) that we’ve eaten in.

There food was quite good, specially the dal makhani. The masala chai was a disappointment, I could only taste milk. It seemed that used tea leaves were used again. They were quite sweet to offer blankets and gave good service
