The Barn At Allenberry
Kennebec potatoes-smoked salt truffle oil
Jumbo lump crab cake, baby greens, lemon & herb vinaigrette, radish, carrot, tomato jam, old bay crema. Chef's suggested pairing: Hefeweizen/Fero Gruvee Sparkling White
Disorganized and and low quality staff and food.
The food, atmosphere and service never disappoint!
Great food in a great environment. Worthy of a ‘do over’!
Trip away for dinner and show. Only problem was slow service from the kitchen.
We enjoyed our dinner last night. We both had the Specials. One had the chicken breast Caprese and the other the Duck Breast. Both were excellent. Flavorful, nicely accompanied by Chef's choice of accompaniments. We also enjoyed sharing their signature dessert - Allenberry sticky bun with vanilla ice cream. Yum!! Wine and Proseco went well with our meals and were very good.
Great meal with great service! Thank you!
The view from the bottom deck was beautiful! No live music on the day I visited so it was pretty quiet, you could hear the other guests conversations. Food and service was fantastic!
Beautiful resort setting with excellent views from the restaurant. Easy parking. Friendly and efficient staff. The food was cooked to perfection.
Thoughtful and patient service for six of us coming from our dad’s private funeral Mass. Accommodated us in every way, from giving us a quiet table and being patient with our delayed arrival when we called ahead. Such a gracious setting, not to mention that the food was outstanding! We have dined at Allenberry over the years and continue to love the ambience and experience. Thank you for your sensitive treatment.
Beautiful restaurant. We sat outside and relaxed with the rustic view. Lots of birds singing. Creative appetizers and mains.
We live nearby and have frequented The Barn at Allenberry since the resort changed ownership a few years ago and especially since it reopened recently. We love the ambience, especially from the deck overlooking the resort’s expansive property and the Yellow Breeches Creek. We’ve found the service to be very good. Many of the servers seem inexperienced, but upbeat and anxious to please. I ordered a bottle of wine from the menu and was brought something else - same varietal, different producer - and the server didn’t point this out. When I said something, the server seemed not to understand this was a potentially big deal. Rookie mistake which I can deal with, but this shouldn’t happen at a place like this. The food quality, preparation and presentation meet our expectations 90% of the time. We’ve sampled about 30% of the rather limited (but adequate) menu at this point, and we usually defer to the day’s special if it’s appealing. Prices are reasonable IMO, on the higher edge of the value proposition. Some menu rotation and a better wine list would be welcomed.
We enjoyed the great service from Sammy.
What a great experience. Food was so good
Will definitely come back
reservations for outside seating, unfortunately 3 trains came by - quite noisy, menu is small, food was good, service was pleasant, not our best experience here but overall good
We asked to be seated next to a window to enjoy the view. There were plenty of empty tables and she sat us next to a wall with no view unless we turned completely around. It was literally the only table without a view. Service was very slow. When our waitress arrived she said "Have you decided?". No introduction or welcome. No offer for drinks. She did not ask what type of dressing I wanted or how my fiance wanted his steak cooked. When the food finally came she did not ask if we wanted another drink so we had to ask. I ordered a red sangria. My glass only only 3/4 full and mostly ice. It was NOT a sangria. It tasted like a splash of something red and then filled with seltzer water. No apology from the waitress. She said" Oh. Ok." All four meals were terrible. Mine was barely edible. It's shame because the restaurant itself is very pretty. A wonderful venue. But the service and food was horrible. We will not be returning.
Beautiful setting and very good service and food! Good music on the patio when we were there.
Our waitress Jasmine was very good and the food & drinks were delicious.
Great all around!
The food was amazing and the atmosphere was enjoyable. I will definitely be back!
We came here today for our 1st time. We celebrated my father & mother in law’s retirement. The whole experience was fantastic. Food was delicious. We will def be back
Food was good but portion sizes too small and very pricey
The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting nestled along the Yellow Breeches! The service was excellent and my water glass was always filled! The bartender is extremely pleasant and makes a great drink. The food is tasty, but the menu limited! The best part was the dessert cinnamon bun with ice cream.
We know they have had service problems, and we did have some long waits. But they were training several new wait staff while we were there, and trying very hard to keep up. Nobody can hire help right now.
The chicken special was a little dry, but the vegetables and potatoes, and the crab cake, were excellent. We all three had the onion soup, and agreed it is first-rate, with lots of caramelized onions in a very rich broth, with thin fried onion rings on top. Most of all, we love the ambiance here. But this was our first visit at The Barn since the Covid. So good to be out!
When we arrived at Allenberry, they DID NOT have our reservation recorded through OpenTable. It was a busy evening. Allenberry accommodated us in a private room for our family dinner and it was quite lovely. I did have my OpenTable confirmation number, yet they did not.
Good food and decent menu, however any change in the listed meal will be a charge. No condiments available as we were told they "believe the food speaks for itself". The Barn Burger was delicious, but having some BBQ sauce is requested shouldn't be too crazy. Brunch was okay... they had several large parties that just overwhelmed the kitchen and staff. Took 2 hours total after being seated. The bar service is great, and the brunch bartender saved us as he just took over and became our server as the wait staff never came to our table.
This is a lovely location and there is a nice deck overlooking the grounds and the river. The food is nice but not fantastic and the service is very average.
This was not our first visit and, the same as last time, there was a very long wait for our food to arrive. The restaurant was busy but not full and there were not enough serving staff taking drinks orders, filling coffee or water. The Allenbury should hire more staff and change its reservation process so that arrivals are staggered, particularly if there are larger groups of 6 or 8. The current system is not working.
It is such a shame, this restaurant could be amazing but both times I have been here I have been left disappointed with the food and the overall experience.
Excellent experience! Just some little timing issues with food delivery!❤️❤️❤️
Overall, a very nice experience. My only observation was the following. After taking the time to make a reservation well in advance, I was surprised to be seated in the bar area knowing that I was about to purchase a meal approaching $100 per person. If I had been informed the only tables available for two were bar-side tables, I may have made a different restaurant choice. The food was great though, but still a little disappointed given the reservation.
Great place, great food, and Amanda was a phenomenal server!
1 crab cake entree $30 just ok, had plenty filler, came with green beans. Most places serve 2 cakes for that price.
The steak $32, was on point, very tasty!
Sticky bun delicious. Beautiful venue.
They just do not prepare fish well, the yellowtail last night was inedible. It was actually difficult to cut, I should have sent it back. The manager never visited the table, the server did not know her menu or share the specials.
The service was pleasant and good. The food was great and the atmosphere relaxing and enjoyable.
Food and service were very good. Wonderful view from the dining room. We’ll be back!
Food wAs great. Lovely view. Sat outside. Live music going on that was loud down below.
We had a table on the back patio. The Music, Food and atmosphere were all great!
We were a party of four. Everyone found the service excellent. Our waitress was attentive without being overly obtrusive. We dined early at 4:00pm so we did not have to wait and we were seated immediately. All four of us in our party ordered items not on the menu, but items that were specials of the day. The selections we chose were creative in their combinations of flavors and prepared to perfection. However, next time I'll request a little less hot chili oil drizzle in my soup.
We sat on the upper terrace and were able to see and hear the band. Hearing live music on a beautiful night was wonderfully. Enjoyed a good glass of wine and crab cake sandwich. Love the truffle fries. Service was good. This place is a gem!
We liked the Allenberry. We dined outside, the service was good. The food was good and we loved the fact that they had live music. However the music was much too loud on the balcony and it was impossible to have a conversation with anyone but the person beside you. There were eight of us there for a special occasion. We did ask if the music volume could be lowered but were told that it could not be.
For the prices on the menu we were disappointed and the service was overall poor. With $32 entree prices you should not have to keep your silverware for the next course. Dishes were delivered to the wrong people which is a big concern with people that have food allergies. The wine list was extremely limited and did not have the vintage of the wines on the list. When are wine came to the table glasses were brought that were still wet and had spots all over them and didn't match. And we ordered lamb rare and it came out medium well. And the pasta dish had almost no taste to it. The server was not aware of which items were gluten free on the menu and seemed confused by the general concept. And I know that One of our guests who was staying 2 nights at the inn had spoken to the chef previously about her dietary restrictions and had to go through the whole thing again with the server. Overall though on the positive the food was tasty and the inn itself is very nice and in a great location. We do realise it was a busy graduation weekend but most of these issues are inexcusable for a nice restaurant.
Scheduling on open table was easy and appreciated. The food for Mother's Day was not as spectacular as I thought it should have been. The selections did not pop out. The service was very slow. One server for 5-6 tables over the course of time we were there. 12:45 reservation and starter hit table at 1:45 after a round of drinks. We left at 2:30 for table of 4. We knew it was going to be a little pricey, so were not shocked.
Food was good but definitely over priced. Selection wasn’t great but we enjoyed what we chose. New York strip steak was tasty but fatty. Green beans served with crab cake were too hard to even cut. We loved the atmosphere and we had an incredible server. He was best in quite awhile.
