We were very disappointed in our meal at Bellemore last night after being seated around 745 and not getting our main courses until after 10pm. We ordered at the first opportunity and asked for service to be sped up after the first course took over an hour. Unfortunately a couple of our party members had to leave before we even got our entrees. Food was excellent- every dish was creative and delicious. Unfortunately the service or kitchen delays ruined our experience.
The best meal I had in America so far.
food in the tasting menu is OK, not so great. Flavor wise, it emphasizes the blend between sweet and sour, pretty mild.
I wasn't impressed with the food given the price & portion. I don't mind paying a lot for a small portion of food if it blows me away, but Bellemore did not blow me away. Better off going to Roister.
Steven, our sever, was a great resource as we embarked on our gastronomic endeavor. Each of the four courses, complimented by the lovely wine selection, exceeded our expectations.
Bellemore was a revelation. It pays attention to exquisite food, without pretense. Seasonal ingredients were cleverly paired to create tastes that were unexpected and delicious. Many things are charred and smoked; clearly this is their signature. The restaurant even smelled smokey when we walked in, but not unpleasantly so. Speaking of arriving, when at our comfy booth we were greeted with two glasses of sparkling rose for our 25th anniversary. What a wonderful way to start! We took advantage of the three course meal suggestion--and of course went four with dessert! Starters included a crisp baby gem salad with an astonishingly delicious dressing as well as a sunchoke salad with incredible spicy crispy kale chips. That was perfection in every bite. We split the saffron bucatini with crab and the portion was more than enough for us both to exclaim over many bites. We wanted to lick the sauce in the bowl--too bad we had already eaten the must-have Hawaiian rolls, with butter also made in-house! I opted for the roast chicken with morel mushrooms and spinach dumpling, as I am a sucker for anything with morels! The chicken was cooked on the bone, but presented with a generous portion of white and dark meat sliced off the bone. So moist, with crisp skin and a great dumpling sitting cozy in the flavorful jus. Hubby had the dry-aged strip. He said it was dense and perfectly cooked. He was a little surprised to only see two small slices, but he ate it in small bites, and along with the other courses, could not stop raving. In the end his portion felt just right. Chef was very accommodating to do a beef jus for him, as he is not a truffle fan. Desserts were VERY different, and while we were full, we felt we needed to try one, their variation on mille feuille--the wafers and yogurt whip were amazing. Another surprise treat was a piece of flourless choc cake with birthday cake ice cream, and closing macaroons! They even gave us a card signed by the staff. We will be back!
The food was excellent. Complex but not fussy. Dishes that seemed somewhat simple were super flavorful. This restaurant is pretty great.
When I arrived the host said they didn’t have the right phone number so couldn’t confirm the reso ( even though my info is accurate). They didn’t seat us until 20 min past reso which was 9:20. The bar service while we waited was amazing . They were very friendly and the cocktails were stellar. Once we sat at the table the server was very pushy . He was out of the 3 things I wanted to try so decided to get sweetbreads and rolls and think it over. He came twice before the sweetbreads trying to push me to make a decision and then when the food came and again before I was done . I’m in the industry and really just wanted time to think it over . I don’t leave bad reviews but this guy just wouldn’t let me enjoy anything . I paid and left by 9:40. It’s sad because I came from Texas and was very excited about the restaurant. It was the only reservation I had for my entire trip. After we left ,we went to duck duck goat and had some of the best food in the city . It just sucks that I wasn’t respected because the server thought his time was more important.
I felt the food was slightly underseasoned but it was all beautiful and we had a really nice time. We did run out of silverware twice so maybe little more table maintenance :-)
Excellent service, great seasonal menu executed perfectly from menu conception to dining experience. Great wine list with different price points to choose from.
The food and service was wonderful
Great food and service. Wine list could be improved and the mark ups are brutal. The Macon I had was priced at $92 but retails for under $25 - ouch. Next time will bring a bottle and pay the corkage.
Pretty place. Nice staff. A bit disorganized at lunch. Served a first course we had not ordered. Actually no one had taken our order at all. Appetizers sounded more interesting than they tasted. Main course salad had little flavor. Desserts were quite good.
Some time I'll have to go and try something other than the firebird chicken sandwich...but that sandwich is so good!
Great food and service. Had the tasting menu - a bit meat/fat heavy. Great incorporation of flavors and etc... lack of veggies however. Crowd appeared mostly as ~50 year old wine drinkers. Regardless how that sways your opinion... still worth checking out. Had reservation towards end of evening and the ambience was really present at the end of the meal.
It was very good food and an excellent "experience" - but after going once I'd consider that itch scratched and wouldn't be interested in going again.
Celebrated my husbands 60 th bday. Really exceptional food. The sauces were really creative and delicious. All ingredients super fresh and the food was seasoned perfectly. Not to salty. Great service, happy staff and has a hip and happening vibe at the restaurant. We will come back again !!
Excellent service start to finish. We had specified during the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. The host who greeted us wishes us happy birthday, the maitre d’hote did too, and presented a personalized sealed letter. Elegant and thoughtful touches all throughout the dining experience with surprises. I highly recommend the restaurant.
The squid ink chitarra and roast chicken were both amazing - the venison tartare was the best we'd ever had.
The staff was lovely, ,lively and paid expectational attention to detail. Definitely recommend to those visiting Chicago for a special occasion.
Nice business luncheon. Menu is limited but the food was very good. Service was definitely off, as we had to ask for utensils and flag down our waitress.
I have been back to Bellemore many times since they opened, and every time has been spectacular. The interior design is gorgeous and lush, tables are widely spaced making it a perfect destination for a business lunch or a romantic dinner. The food is delicious, with a seasonal menu offering a lot of variety but a few tried and true favorites. I love every single thing about Bellemore. Signed, your biggest fan
Food was great and service was excellent. We had a small issue with a bottle of wine that was a bit "corky" upon opening. The staff handled it perfectly and brought us an alternative wine (it was the second bottle from the same vineyard that had this issue they said). Very nice evening.
Great new(er) restaurant on West Randolph. Nice place to meet friends or take clients for a nice lunch. Lunch options were good and plentiful. I had the garden salad with chicken and would definitely order it again. It had very fresh ingredients that were served in a very cool bowl. Beautiful restaurant!
Loved the ambiance, it felt upscale without feeling stuffy. The food was flavorful and each dish was composed beautifully. It was a little pricey, but we overall really enjoyed our meal.
Outstanding excellent classy joint. Our waiter also recommended an excellent wine that complimented our meal!
We did the tasting menu and it was outstanding. The dining room is so lovely - it was a feast for the senses.
Bellemore serves a creative menu with amazing blending of flavors and ingredients, artfully displayed and delivered with professional service. On top of it all, the physical space is beautiful. We paired the sunchokes with the venison tartare as a starter which was a fabulous combination. There are options for everyone here, with a lovely grilled butternut squash entree for vegetarians. My husband had the pork which was served (among other things) on this beet "sausage"/boudin noir which was really inventive. It's hard to explain, but it's delicious. Don't hesitate - make a reservation!
The waitstaff was very attentive throughout our meal. The food and experience was great. The sunchoke appetizer is delicious and the Artic Char was divine. A very enjoyable dining experience. Looking forward to going back!
A hidden gem. Unique dishes with great ambience and reasonable prices. We will definitely be back!
Once I got to Belvedere I could see it was mainly a place for business dinners. So I’d expect the prices to be hiked up for expense accounts. But the menu was intriguing and the service was great with no coolness about me being a solo female diner.
I started out with a Manhattan as part of my quest to find the World’s Best Manhattan. It was good, but thought the waiter might have a little more fun with me on this — they usually do! The veal sweetbreads were delicious and very subtle. Perhaps too much so. I followed with a delicious chicken with stuffed morels. Sparse serving but delicious.
I ordered a glass of CA Chardonnay with the chicken. It was the priciest glass (about $25) and the waiter described it as very buttery and heavy oak. Unfortunately what came wasn’t a Chardonnay at all and tasted like box wine. I told this to the waiter who claimed he poured it himself. But he kindly took it back and replaced it with another very obviously great and less expensive CA Chardonnay. Made me wonder though...
Dessert was a bit disappointing. It mainly consisted of a few very hard and chewy banana bread cubes with a tiny amount of fluffed up maple ice cream. Delicious, but left me wanting.
I capped off the meal with a single malt whisky, chosen from a modest but good variety of choices. With tip the meal for one was about $150. Though the food, service, and atmosphere were all very nice, It was really a good $80 dinner in a very good restaurant. I left a bit hungry too.
Not sure I’d go back to Belvedere.
Delicious food, portion size was just right. We were celebrating an anniversary. Everyone was so welcoming and the card we got was a lovely touch
My daughter and I had lunch and picked from the prix fix menu. It was delicious with generous food portions. We loved it. Beautiful artsy decor too.
All the food was delicious, pretty good value on the wine as well. Attentive/friendly service
The decor is absolutely stunning. Very well thought out, clean and modern. We had an issue with our table. It was too big for the three of us in our party. We sat at a curved booth and one chair on the outside. This table should have been for a party of 5 or 6. The service upon first arriving was amazing. Our dining server was wonderful but not knowledgeable about the menu. She recommended that we do three courses because the portion sizes are small. So we did order three courses as recommended but by the second course we were all stuffed. My first course was the roasted sun chokes which was very good and hearty. My second course was the porcini rigatoni. It was good but a bit too salty and it wasn’t a small portion. I was not able to finish the pasta. I couldn’t even enjoy my dinner because I was so full. I wish that our server wouldn’t have been so convincing about the portion size and perhaps she should have suggested a lighter first course because of the hearty second course. Anyway, I went Bellemore for the dinner menu and I was not able to enjoy my meal because I was so full.
Waiter was very kind and energetic but spoke too much. Food was good but menu was very limited.
Fantastic menu and experience. Great and knowledgeable service. You can just taste the passion and artistry of the chef.
Took friends here from out of town. They were blown away, as was I. This is one of the top destinations for Chicago dining. The Dayboat scallops and the Pavlova desert were mind blowing. Our server (Kiwi) was a total pro. She made her work look effortless. It's rare that I've come across such an individual. We felt lucky to be in her hands.
A wonderful dinner in a beautiful place - singing pink scallops were AMAZING! We had to catch a show and they made sure we were out in time but also did not make us feel rushed.
This is my 2nd time here for lunch. The server was very attentive and helped make a recommendation b/t the steak salad (which I loved last visit) and the chicken sandwich. I decided to try the chicken sandwich. A nice flavor, crispy coating and the chicken was very juicy. Next visit I won't know which one to choose so tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant!
