From day one, we have wanted this little restaurant to be a space where anyone can feel comfortable & welcomed. Classic French cuisine is the root of this ethos - consistent, familiar and even nostalgic flavours from the tried & true feel good classics, yet slightly elevated with a touch of whimsy. Whether you are up for a curated culinary experience with our 4 & 7 Course tasting menus (Fri & Sat evenings), or prefer to choose your own adventure with our 3-course Table D’hote menu (Wed & Thurs evenings), or are in search of an upscale lunch à la carte menu (Thur - Sat); we have you covered! Our menus are composed entirely to showcase the best local products in Lanark County & the Ottawa Valley and are tailored monthly to best celebrate the tastes of the season. Our Supper Club dinner series offers a unique farm-to-table experience that share these relationships with you. Hosted monthly, each event features a local farmer, artisan or producer who shares their story and insights with our guests while we serve a carefully curated 4-course meal, highlighting their products. This intimate evening not only showcases the finest seasonal ingredients but also celebrates the hardworking hands behind the food, creating a deeper connection to the community and land that nourish us. Join us as we host Hans & Marianne Lindenmann on Wednesday, May 28th as we cook up an epic, 4-course tasting menu featuring the exquisite Venison & Red Wattel Pork of Trillium Meadows Farm. Two seatings are available, at 5:00pm and 7:45pm ($99/person).

    We were a group of four and have absolutely no problems highly recommending Black Tartan. Chef Ian and staff offer an intimate and unique experience. All food dishes are impeccably presented and so delicious - along with excellent wine pairings. A local experience that shouldn’t be missed.

    We went here to celebrate our anniversary with another couple. The wait staff were attentive and accommodating and the food was excellent each course explained as to how it was prepared and where it came from, a lot of it locally purchased. Unfortunately it was so noisy that we couldn't hear our friends across the table. For the price we were expecting a little better ambience. For this reason, I will not be returning.

    As usual, amazing personable and hilarious servers. Beautifully presented, visually appetizing and delicious, multi-faceted textural plates. It never ceases to amaze me whenever a plate is set down. I did find the service slightly non-attentive as we were without water for sometime and had to ask for a refill, and the timing of the food coming out was a bit off, and slow. If both could be tuned, it would be 5 stars. We were there for a birthday and at the end the server surprised the birthday guest with a beautiful pink rose from the local florist down the street. A+++. That made her day. Thanks so much for a great dining experience, and incredible value for a three-course meal in the beautiful town of Carleton Place.

    Wow! I cannot express how amazing our experience was. Date night was much overdue and after eating we are so glad on our choice to dine at Black Tartan. Beautiful plates and all local food in various places of Ontario. Absolutely amazing, thank you to everyone who served us! Highly recommend.

    We had a wonderful experience at the Black Tartan. Delicious and decadent flavours from the appetizers to dessert. Presentation was exceptional. Host was friendly and informative.

    Food was great but it came very slow which we went for Saturday brunch. We were the second table arrived for only few tables being served. Only one lady working and she is very helpful and explain clearly.
