   We had a friendly hostess and a lovely server and had high hopes for the food. Unfortunately we were greatly disappointed compared to other local restaurants that we tried in downtown Asheville. It was fine, but for our group it wasn’t to our liking. With that said, the service and ambiance were very nice.

   Elegant food with large portions. Attentive service and great cocktail and wine selection. It’s a little warm inside but I find that true of most Asheville restaurants. Expensive but you should know that walking in.

   The food was Delicious! Everything was presented beautifully and the portions were large. House coctail - The Blackbird was very refreshing. Cheese board with accompanying snacks was a good mix of sweet, sour and crunch. Entrees, Pork Chop and Seafood Palau were cooked perfectly. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant was full but not noisy.

   My server, Paige was GREAT... the pork chop was huge and very good...my chicken was not fully cooked and had to be returned... you know the danger of not eat fully cooked chicken... thankfully they didn't charge me for my meal without having to ask for it...

   We go to Black Bird as often as we are able! The brunch is excellent! I also like the French Press coffee that is available.

   Nice little breakfast / brunch spot. Reasonably priced compared to much of Asheville and server was attentive. Coffee pour was generous. Food was very good and presentation was excellent though big breakfast eaters might be looking for a little bit larger portions.

    I was really excited to try this restaurant and my expectations were high. We all ordered different things, some were good, others just ok. We ordered the arugula salad, garlic bread, risotto, gnocchi, pork chop, and vegetarian Wellington. The dishes we loved were the salads, the trout and scallop risotto, bread, and the pork chop. These were all delicious. The gnocchi was our least favorite, as it was so overpowered by garlic (and I love garlic) that I couldn’t even finish half. The gnocchi was made in house and the texture was wonderful, but I couldn’t taste the flavor of the mushrooms or the gnocchi through the garlic. The dish could have used a fraction of the garlic and that would have been so much better. The Wellington just left something to be desired. We also ordered the coconut cake, which was delicious and I would come back just for that. As for the service and ambiance, the server was great, although very busy and it while I liked the overall atmosphere in general, it was incredible warm in there this night, which was a little uncomfortable. Overall, I will come back again and maybe try the chef tasting menu, which sounded amazing!

    Excellent shrimp & grits and great beignets! Great place for brunch as it wasn’t too crowded or noisy. I recommend asking for a window seat for the perfect experience.

    Went with a buddy. Thought this would be the hidden gem that lacked only the hype of its neighbors but the vibe was dormant and the kitchen or the menu didn’t really deliver on its promises, for me anyway. Probably would be fine for quiet couples dining.

    We did enjoy the Chef's tasting menu with wine pairings, but felt it a bit lacking. Many of the courses were under-seasoned. Two of the courses used the same Mojo Rojo sauce. The Crispy Pork Belly with Mojo Rojo was disappointing. I appreciate the pork was to be crispy and perhaps even charred but it was past that point and the sauce tasted acrid as well, maybe the spices were burned in the preparation? Two of the 6 courses were SUPERB: the Espinaca con Garbanzo, Pan de Empapado and the Shrimp with White Wine sauce & Mojo Verde. Overall, it was an ok experience for a fairly large price tag.

    Food was uneven - some of the dishes were good, but others were bland. Everything should be on point and very good at this price point. Service was ok, but our waiter took our empty water bottle and never returned with more water until we paid the check. Possibly they had new help in the kitchen or were understaffed? Don't think we will return. Too many other good options in Asheville.

    Our server and the service were very good, but unfortunately the food was just fair. I order the risotto trout and the fish was good, but the risotto was so salty and swimming in a pool of butter I couldn’t eat it. The restaurant was unbelievably hot also, so this just made for not the best dinner experience. Again, our server was great, but the food and ambiance were fair at best.

    Belated birthday dinner with my husband. I chose the restaurant as we’d never tried it and the menu looked good. We went for an early dinner at 5pm when they open dinner service. Our waitress was good, checked on us but didn’t hover. We each had a starter and an entree. They were all delicious. The warm fruit and Brie that I had was lovely, fresh, and the right amount. My husband had the charred steak & watermelon salad which he also enjoyed. Four our entrees, I have the vegetable Wellington, which was really good. Filled with a variety of veggies over mashed potatoes and wilted spinach, all of which had lots of flavor. He had the mushroom risotto, which we both thought was outstanding. I’ll have to try it or something similar next time. We got coconut cake to take home, large pieces and really good. Overall, a great meal.

    Fried chicken sandwich was thigh not breast with strong taste - sent it back.

    Hello, Our server indicated to you that this was thigh meat and not breast meat. I stopped by the table and you mentioned "it has nothing to do with the kitchen, it just was not for me, no worries!" and we took this off your bill, and offered to replace it with another sandwich of your choice. I wish this did not prompt you to leave a two star review as your friend said her sandwich was perfect. Please reconsider given the fact that we did what we could to accommodate you. Thank you.

    Birthday celebration. Birthday girl ordered a medium well steak and got a charred, overcooked, chewy steak. I ordered the trout and scallops with risotto and they brought me the veggie risotto. When they finally brought the correct meal it was undercooked. Service was spotty. It was confusing who to ask about it as we were waited on by 5 different waitstaff. Awful value for the money. Very disappointed!! Won’t return.

    Definitely worth the price. We had specials-appetizer and entrees. Wish we had been hungry enough to do the tasting menu. Desserts were the standard offerings, instead of the creativity of the rest of the menu. Good service and interesting flavors.

    Came here a year ago and loved it! This time something was off. Extremely limited menu and the food seemed to be under-seasoned. The mussels were extremely fishy tasting - would not recommend them! Cool place and the service was very good. I would give this place another chance - everyone can have an off night

    We went to Blackbird on a Tuesday . The local trout was amazing (risotto was ok) - husband had seafood pirlau which had a good flavor. Kids had burgers and they enjoyed them. This is a solid choice for dining. Also, go for a coffee at the double decker bus across the street.

    Steak was great but everything else was lacking. Cheese board with no meat, only one spread (jelly), only one type of cracker. For the price I would expect much more. One waiter servicing one whole side of the restaurant. Not a great beer selection. Over priced for what was served.

    Hello, our cheese boards do not have meat, similar to how our meat boards do not have cheese. To enjoy both, I suggest ordering a meat & cheese board. On Saturday night we had 5 servers, 2 or 3 on each side of the restaurant. We feature 6 local beers on tap, and we are priced in line or below our competition. I apologize if this sounds argumentative but you're sharing false information in a public forum to demoralize a family-owned business. Good day to you sir.

    The food was very good, and we were seated next to a big window open to the street. A stand out for me was the charcuterie board featuring a spreadable meat that was absolutely delicious. The cornichons, pickled onions and lightly pickled cucumbers were a lovely counter balance. The server was attentive, but not too much so.
