My wife and I decided to treat ourselves the the seafood tower and we were not disappointed. The oysters on the half shell were large and plump and everything on the dish was crisp and fresh. With a side salad it was plenty of food for 2 and we will get it again for sure.
Disappointed. Great location and ambiance but the food was subpar and there were too many service errors. I’d give it one more try though. The place was packed so hopefully it’s good more often than not.
Outstanding meal and wonderful experience! We were seated not too long after we arrived. Kaleigh was our server; very sweet, exceptionally attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. We shared the Caesar salad; not too overpowering on the dressing! She had the Broiled Seafood Combo; she said that everything was well-flavored! I had the Shrimp and Grits; shrimp were HUGE! Flavor had just a hint of kick without overdoing it. We shared the Zookie for dessert; very tasty, if not a little too sweet for my wife's taste. Ambiance of the restaurant was wonderful! All the patrons seemed to enjoy themselves. We had a fantastic time! We live near the Brandermill location and this one tops it! We'll eat here again for sure!
The food and ambiance are awesome. The hosts need some customer service training. We arrived at 4:00 pm on a Friday, a full hour before our reservation because graduation finished early. We had let them know we were celebrating a graduation. We arrived and had 2 more people than planned in our party. The host gave us a snobby/ distasteful look and said, “a heads up would have been nice...we’ll do what we can”. Mind you, the resataurant was EMPTY since it was only 4 in the afternoon. They crammed us into a small table despite the abundance of empty chairs in the restaurant. Supposedly they couldn’t spare one single extra 2 top table because people were arriving any minute within too close of a timeframe. Yet when we left 2 hours late, still an abundance of empty chairs. We got over it though, as things improved once we didn’t have to interact with the host anymore. Food and wait staff are awesome, the restaurant’s amazing sunset view stands in its own. Snobby host staff notwithstanding, the restaurant is a winner.
Very noisy. However, all else was excellent.
One of the best spots in Richmond! Great food, service and the view is exceptional! Their salmon and crab cakes are amazing!
The service and food were excellent it’s obviously a popular spot seemed fairly busy for a Wednesday night.
Perfect ambiance and great view of the Richmond skyline at night. Server was attentive, but not intrusive, as we were not in a hurry. Food was excellent. Definitely worth doing again.
We were visiting Richmond for the first time. The Boathouse was fabulous. The meal was delicious and our server was wonderful!! We will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits Richmond .
Service was good. The food was good
Great Brunch as usual, we try to go a couple of times each month. Good to see that recycled wine bottles are no used any longer for table water as they are hard to clean out. Still looking for a gravy boat on the buffet :-)
This was our first time at the Boathouse. The food was excellent and the wait was very reasonable. The only issue that we had was the parking. We were not sure if we could park in the lot next to the restaurant and the parking on the street was a bit far away.
Unbeknownst to us, on Wednesday, selected wines are half off. We selected a Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon ,
which was quite good. My wife had the filet mignon special and I had the broiled seafood combo. Both were excellent. We should come here more often.
Excellent friendly service, amazing view, great food.
We celebrated my husband’s Birthday at the Boathouse at Rocketts Landing in November 26th 2018. You will never go wrong with the Boathouse... from the well covered items to dine on, the extensive wine/liquor/cocktails to the absolute stunning views. Our server Caitlin? Top notch in personality, attention to details and her warming smile made for a really nice dining experience.
Good brunch and great drinks.
We come here for brunch every 3-4 months. Everything was outstanding as usual
My husband and I love The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing. The food is great and the service is wonderful. We celebrate our anniversary there every year. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!
My family was there last Thanksgiving and we enjoyed everything we had from their dinner buffet. We especially loved the Norwegian Salmon, Shrimp and Grits and the desserts. The Chocolate Layer Cake was our favorite because of its melts-in-your-mouth quality, like chocolate truffles. So good! Even our little boy liked everything he had that night. We made a reservation for 6PM and were called to be seated at 6:24 PM. It was understandable given it was a busy day. I thought of sharing so others will take that into consideration for next year and would be understanding and patient. It was compensated well with wonderful food and service. Our server was very attentive and did a great job. We had an overall 5-star experience and would definitely be back.
Went for Thanksgiving. Food was only fair to good honestly - especially considering the price ($44.00 per person). Didn't even include coffee or tea - that was extra.
Thanksgiving buffer was very nice. Food was well prepared, better than buffets usually are. Good choices, beautiful setting and good service
We had Thanksgiving dinner. I was slightly disappointed that the menu was not available as it was only a buffet. The main reason I chose Boathouse was to have more fish options since I have a gluten intolerance. I was able to have a mostly gluten free experience by avoiding the known gluten items of dressing, Garvey and the salmon sauce. I just wish this buffet on,y would have been more prominent posted when I made the reservations. The only other thing that was slightly annoying to me and very annoying to my husband was the 80’s pop playing in the background. It was season,y wrong and kind of corny.
Shrimp and grits were unbelievable
Best Thanksgiving buffet anywhere! Upscale food and beautiful view of the river
Was very good Thanksgiving meal. My only issue was the background music was a little loud.
Wished holiday music played instead of classic rock, and I’m a rock fan, but it’s holiday time. Creates a more festive season.
The service was fantastic. I took my girlfriend for her birthday and we both loved the food. Our server was so friendly and accommodating.
The brunch is truly AWESOME! My family loves it! I brought a friend that lives out of town and she was amazed how good the food was.
It was our first year wedding anniversary. We didn’t feel as if the server cared. We were both disappointed. We hosted our rehearsal dinner here a year ago. I wasn’t impressed this time.
Great service and great food. Undersized portions for me but it was perfect for the wife.
the decibel level was extremely high! That is not an option in your review. Energetic, yes; is a positive, excessively loud is a negative.
My poached eggs the best part of brunch were hard and over cooked. Very disappointed. Went last week too and waitress forgot one of the items. So 2 weeks in a row underwhelming
Sad to write this review because I've been coming to the Boathouse for years at multiple locations. We were there to celebrate my mothers bday, we came for Sunday Brunch. Our waitress had no personality and quite frankly very rude. I ordered a medium well steak that came out bloody I brought this to her attention and she snatches the plate out of my hand mid sentence and walks away. I get a second steak which was still equally bloody but I just dealt with it. She then starts to take away my brothers dirty plate and drops the fork on him with no remorse all while holding dirty plates an inch from my face. I don't know if she was having a bad day or just didn't want to be serving us. Either way it'll most likely be the last time we dine there.
Server was great
Thank you for an awesome night. My friend really enjoyed her birthday dinner!
We had a great time everyone was great. Loved the food.
It is just too noisy to have a nice conversation with the other people at the table.
Best seafood in Richmond
The view would be really great, but after dark, there's no lighting in the area, so ... nothing there. A minor note was that although the temperature was in the 30s and they had a big gas fireplace near our table (indoors, thus minor, as in ambiance could have been better), it wasn't working. Waiter was excellent--knew the menu, made good recommendations. Appetizers were large, entrees a bit small, and then back to too much food for dessert. Interesting combination--and I have never had de-caf served in a French press. All-in-all, it's probably a great place for anytime you can see the riverfront, or if you want to celebrate. The space is open, and there were lots of large (and one or two loud) groups there.
