The Cat and Fiddle Restaurant & Pub
Always a great experience, great Sunday roast & a cheeky scotch egg or sausage roll !!
I would recommend The Cat & Fiddle to anyone looking for good food and a boisterous atmosphere.
Went on Sunday for the Roast Dinners my friends got the Ribeye & Lamb Roasts of which they both enjoyed. I got the traditional Fish & Chips was nice none of us ever had the Sausage Roll and/or the Scotch-egg both were delicious
We got in there on last minute reservation, which was very helpful. We got seated outside in a courtyard under two beautiful large palm trees but they still managed to maintain a "pub" ambiente. Very nice overall. The menu was authentically British but the food made some accommodations to the American palate. Service was efficient and friendly.
this restaurant took my reservation for 8pm on thanksgiving , we should up and were ignored by the hostess for about 10 minutes , they then told me the only table they had was outside when it was raining and then told me they were no longer serving thanksgiving dinner
Hi Jamesg, Thank you for your review! So sorry to hear about your experience on Thanksgiving. I would gladly offer you a gift certificate to come back and try us again. Please email us (contact page on website), I can also explain the issue we had on Thanksgiving which affected a few of the last minute later reservations the system accepted. I understand your frustration and it was a systematic error on our end. I hope we also took care of you while you were here. Cheers, Ashlee
Our Thanksgiving meal starts The Cat and Fiddle was absolutely delicious. Basically a gourmet quality homemade Thanksgiving. Simple yet delightful. The maple cheesecake was about one of the best desserts I’ve ever had, bursting in flavor and yet delicate. Sweet potato meringue was divine. The vegetable itself was as delicious and creamy as the meringue topping. Turkey has always been my least favorite part of the traditional Thanksgiving meal. It can be dry or lacking in flavor. This was tender, moist and bursting in flavor. The other side dishes were wonderful. The Cat and Fiddle has always had the highest quality food and obvious care in preparation. This surpassed all they’ve served before—and on an extremely busy night at that. Bravo! I salute the chef and we wished we could have hugged all by the time we left, happy and discussing the wondrous meal for days later. Thank you to all at the Cat and Fiddle!
Hadn't been to the Cat since it relocated from it killer Spanish-style Sunset building. The Highland Ave location is easy to get to but also easy to miss. But trust me, you don't want to miss it. Staff is friendly & professional, pours are generous and the crowd is interesting. Also - the food is first rate.
So good to be home again.
Thank you MarkO! Welcome back, glad to have you.
Surprisingly good food (especially for LA vegan types!) Nice ambiance - has always been pretty quiet when I was there — but that helps give it an intimate cozy vibe. SUPER friendly staff — but a slow or quiet night means slow service. Will definitely go regularly.
Thank you Sophia! Yes we have tailored our menu to our new location and have a little bit of everything for everyone. Cheers and hope to see you again soon, Ashlee
Cute place with good food. Nice patio. Will definitely return.
Thanks so much for your review. Really appreciate the feedback. Cheers!
Just wow, the food, the atmosphere, the staff, everything was incredible
We've been to the Cat and Fiddle several times and every time has been a fine experience. The food is good the choice of beer is very good and the service is outstanding. Food prices are moderate and the ambience is enjoyable -- if you like pubs.
When someone brings up going out to eat, we always think of The Cat and Fiddle.
Love the Cat and Fiddle - lovely to have a local British pub near by and a great Beef roast lunch. And the fish and chips is gluten free and delicious
Thank you so much for your review! So glad you enjoyed the Roast lunch and it's one of our specialties. Cheers and hope to see you again soon! Ashlee
After 50 years gluten-free, it was a real treat to have fish and chips with a cold cider. They were sensational, as was our server, Lizzie. Highly recommended.
Hi Ralph, Thank you so much for your review! Im sure Lizzy will be so happy to hear you enjoyed your time here with us and her. Gluten-free options is something we are doing at this new location and its feedback like this that is really helpful. Cheers, Ashlee
We were the first ones there. My fish and chips were good. The hamburger was ok.
Thank you for your review!
What shame this place moved. Not the same at all
Hi Dara, Thank you for giving us a try and I'm so sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your experience with us! How can we improve? It is a different location from Sunset, smaller and quaint and flows very nicely from inside and out. The menu is carefully crafted and all the food is homemade from breads to dressings, so we have a strong handle on quality control . We have many of previous staff from Sunset, wonderful staff that has stayed with us in thick and thin. Cheers, Ashlee
Sheer delight. This new incarnation of the historic Cat & The Fiddle is a lovely experience on every level. The charming, cozy pub atmosphere makes for a comfortable yet festive vibe, and the service is very friendly and attentive. And the food! So flavorful and hearty! The beer-battered fish was tender and moist, the pot pies were treasures of homemade goodness, and the soup was seasoned to perfection. Can't wait to return to try more dishes.
Thank you LuvDiningOut! Thank you for your descriptive and positive review! Appreciate the time you took to make your review. Cheers and see you soon!
The food was bad. I ordered a chicken curry pie. And I literally got a chicken stew/soup. It was in NO way a curry. And there was a rat on the patio. Disappointing.
The food was really delicious with choices open English pub. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We liked The atmosphere as well.
Food was really good! Our waiter was great! Recommend.
Great Sunday roast !!
Food, service, ambiance, and everything was phenomenal!
I don't understand how a British pub doesn't stock salad cream. HP sauce check. No salad cream and some of the staff were so confused when being asked for it a pile of sour cream came out. Literally why. I get probably only a few Brits will ask for it but even if you don't make her own that stuff is bomb proof on a shelf and you could cheaply order a case for way less than the measly $6 it cost full retail at world market. Come ON literally how else do you eat scotch eggs. And if you are gonna spend for the rabbit food under a scotch egg just put that sauce at the side. Other British pubs in LA do.... OH and that was the smallest sausage roll I've ever seen and I'm not sure it is even a full sized British sausage. I did not find it to be value for money, two at that size would be.
That being said I had a cracking time and the scotch eggs tasty and the Shepherd's Pie flatbread was gorgeous.
Also I went bc it's a British pub so maybe give people equal opportunity to tout that.
Great as always!
I have a ton of food intolerances, including a bunch of veggies, and C&F had SO many things I could eat that I was a happy camper. HIghly recommend.
I love The Cat and Fiddle--great energy and lovely owners and service and food. It's a great neighborhood pub!
These guys really know what they are doing, and really know how to host!
There’s no where else like it in LA.
Family run business of exceptional quality. We went for Father’s Day, the owner welcoming everybody, making people- including our two young children- feel really comfortable. Our server was equally wonderful and talented with children. Food to please everyone, and I mean everyone. From Vegans to carnivores to toddlers. Our girls loved coming here and said we should go there lots of times, I agree.
We hadn’t been since our wedding day at the old location, and we will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely afternoon!
Thanks so much Chloe!
Paula and her staff are excellent at all levels. Greeting, seating, making helpful suggestions, taking our orders, delicious food, and excellent service. They made our family day a joy! We highly recommend the Cat and Fiddle!
Came here before going to see a show at the Masonic Lodge and it was great! Service was amazing, food was delicious. It was well worth being a little late to getting into line for the show!
I've already told many friends about this place, loved it !!
Great service great place :)
Lovely pub serving traditional British food with a superb ambiance and very friendly staff. Comfortable seats and pretty garden. We would definitely go there again. Good value and warm welcome.
There should be one of those places that you love to go to on a regular basis. Even though the food is good and well prepared, it does not seem to overcome its problems. The prices are a little too high, the management is not customer focused, and overall a lackluster experience each time I go.
Hi MommothLover, Thank you for your review! Did you have a particular experience while you were there? There is almost always a member of the family there as management because we do care about our guests and try to be as accommodating as possible. Hence responding to this review! Would love to hear more about your experience if you would be willing to share. You can also call us or email to explain more and please direct to me. Cheers, Ashlee
Excellent service and the food is the best! Will be back soon!
Love this place. Great staff, awesome music playing, excellent food.
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback! Cheers.
Food was delicious - as well made as any top restaurant. The space is super chill and comfy, and the staff were wonderful. :)
Appreciate your review! Thank you!
We found this old style English Pub by accident. Our Daughter had just been given a job at the Elementary School down the street and we needed to have dinner after she showed us the school. I did my serch on OpenTable and this wonderful spot came up. The Waitress was such an outstanding welcoming factor. I am a fan of Guinness and after it was on the Happy Hour menu, they had me sold. The food is excellent and you put this on top of the Pub atmosphere, you have the makings of a Pub Home Away from Home!!!! Thank you Cat and Fiddle for making our time at your Restaurant so unexpectedly wonderful!!!!
Thanks so much for your review Steven! So glad you found us and hope your daughter enjoys the neighborhood for her new job. Cheers, Ashlee
The Cat and Fiddle re-incarnated in its new location rocks. Food and service is great ( we both had the Shepherds Pie) and the bar offers a generous pour. The are is burgeoning and re-inventing itself. Had to have you back. Will definitely return when I feel the pull of experiencing the feel of an English pub with terrific Shepherds Pie.
We hadn't visited The Cat and Fiddle in their newer location on Highland Ave, and were pleasantly surprised. I had been in the space when it was another restaurant, and am so pleased how The Cat and Fiddle works in this space. Their Cat Cider is delicious, food was very tasty, service was very thoughtful, yet comfortable. A great place to meet friends. We'll be back!
Our server was very patient and knowledgeable of the menu! The service as a whole was great! And the food was just as delicious!
Legit British cuisine!
Too noisy and crowded inside, on a week night for normal conversation across a table.
