The Chinese Library
Great place, good food, superb service. Perfect for business lunch or a cozy meal with friends and family.
There was quite a delay to be served our second course - we waited about 15 minutes. I had to ask for peanuts from the bar in the meantime to go with my wine.
The dim sum are cold. And even the stir fry are cold. The food was so bad. And the selection of food was super limited. The service was lousy. Keep missing orders and there is practically no staff around. Trying to find someone to add hot water to my tea was literally impossible. Disappointed.
Didn’t know the brunch price has been increased from $298 to $328 Per person as their website is still posting the old poster. The free flow champagne price per person also increased from $258 to $288!
The service was excellent. My fiend brought some beautiful longjing green tea and they were extremely accommodating, finding the right glasses so we could properly enjoy the tea.
Pre-ordered Peking Duck for a 12.00 reservation. Ordered all dishes by 12.20. Confirmed with server that they should serve the Peking Duck. By 12.55. no duck and no other food. When we inquired what was taking so long when other tables who ordered after us received their food, we were told that they had to heat up the oven for the duck. But we said we were asked to confirm at 9.30am that we wanted the duck, so why wasn’t it ready and we had to wait so long not only for that dish but all others. Peking Duck only came at 1.15. Had to leave so only two people had duck. Food is very good, but not sure why so disorganised and poor service after several years open. Don’t offer option to pre-order duck if it’s a problem to prepare and serve at lunch time!
service was severely lacking. They're not set up for free flow dim sum. It took over an hour for our vegetables to come out and had to ask 4 times to 4 different people. Also when I ordered off the vegetarian menu two of my dishes never came and when inquired about them, I was told that they don't have it anymore. Wouldn't recommend free flow dim sum.
Great food and service
Good environment to enjoy the meal with fds or family
Will come again
Sofa seat (requested when making booking) was not offered until the complaint.
Wines list or food pairing was not offered, yet the hospitality was missing even it was still in early hour!
It was overall a fantastic brunch. Food is nice and served in a cute dish. Staffs are efficient and all dressed up. Great one! I will recommend my friend whoever visit HK!
Fantastic food and service. Great brunch offering
Delicious food and good service, however background music too loud.
Food is tasty and service is friendly but a bit slow. Overall a very pleasant dining experience.
The ambience and food was excellent. Every type of dim sum we tried was delicious and beautifully presented. Initially the staff was very attentive. However toward the end of the service even though the dining room was getting emptier the service seemed to decline slightly. Glasses were not getting filled as regularly and difficulty getting the attention of service staff.
Great food as usual!! Very friendly service and the venue is superb!
Went for dimsum brunch and decided to sit at the terrace. Food was good but my orders kept getting mixed up with other table orders. Had to wait a long time for the correct order to arrive after clarifying w the waitresses at least twice. Suggest to put table number on the order form to avoid wrong food orders in the future. The mixologist was good as he was attentive n v helpful about the drink selection.
Fantastic food and service......great recommendation from the staff
Wonderful food and fantastic art-deco room. Would most definitely visit again and, of course, Tai Kwun is a marvellous venue!
Some of the best dim sum in hk hands down. With it alone for the truffle ha gao.
Very nice upscale Western style Chinese ambience. Service was good and attentive. Must try the Peking duck, the skin is so crispy and most fat was roasted out.
Great service and good food. Slightly pricy but worth it
Fantastic location in the old police HQ. Great atmosphere. Excellent service.
Excellent food and impressive location
The waiter Tony provided us with excellent services, explained each course to us, kept an eye on our drinks to ensure we didnt need to ask to fill despite he was so busy. Food is excellent, very well presented. Our guests are very happy we picked your resturant. An excellent night out. Thanks everyone.
Food delicious and fresh.
Must try if in the vicinity.
Definitely one of my favourite restaurant.
Peking duck was delicious. Also enjoyed the shi
I was looking for a leisurely Sunday lunch that was delicious but not filling, and theses criteria were fulfilled here. I think there is value in what I ordered, weighing in the price, the quality of the food, the ambiance, decoration and service. And I could kill for another bowl of those minced pork noodles.
Geweldige ambiance, heerlijk eten en geweldige bediening
This is the best representation of the most exquisite Chinese food.
The highly recommended Pekin Duck more than surprised us in our dinner.
You know it is a good when they surprise you with a smile as soon as you get in the restaurant.
I'm happy I went there.
It's a great venue with fantastic dishes. The service however needs a lot of work on!
I was looking forward to eat Chinese food this week, so my friends recommended this place and I could not be more thank full for this incredible suggestion.
The starters the mains and dessert, everything was perfectly made, tasty, great texture and also a very eye catching, I would absolutely recommend this place.
We got to read about their Chef through a newspaper article, so the fact we were there already reading about it ahead and reading the recommendation was very accurate.
The best Chinese food in China.
No question this is my very favorite place to eat Chinese food.
Absolutely tasty dishes, incredible presentation together with outstanding service.
And the Pekin-Duck is something you don't want to miss.
I'm telling you, this is the place!!
And delightful wine
Some dishes were expensive
The truffle section on the menu wasn’t described clearly
What a yummy experience.
We wanted to go somewhere special, romantic, classic, this place filled all the gaps.
Chinese Library is such an outstanding place with great staff and tasty, very tasty food.
They have re-invented traditional dishes into modern creative presentations but still preserving the base.
I rarely give an across-the-board 5-star review (maybe the first time?), but this place was just outstanding. The dining room is gorgeous, perfectly lit and dramatic. The service was very attentive and the staff well-informed. Loved every dish we tried, from filet of chicken with Sichuan peppers, crispy aubergine w/ shrimps and string beans, beef shin w/ sesame, BBQ pork loin w/ honey (AMAZING). Very special place and will most certainly have a repeat visit on my next trip to HK. Located at the old Police Headquarters--really cool new entertainment complex in Central. Nice!
Ambience was great and staff was very attentive. However, food was a bit too much in a way that it had too much conflicting tastes. Maybe about the preference but I’d prefer to have basic dim sum options as well
This restaurant is amazing. It’s a bit pricey but with the adventure.the room was gorgeous. The service and food were impeccable. Unfortunately, due to the local protests, there were only four tables. 5 stars.
One of the Best Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong ! Amazing food & friendly and professional staffs.
My experience at The Chinese Library was extraordinary. I was looking for a nice venue to have Chinese food and this place surpassed my expectations.
I'm very happy to have spend the night in such a nice restaurant with really delicious food and a very nice environment.
My family and I had the Pekin Duck and it was better than we expected.
For the food and decoration/ambiance, everything Ok..., the problem comes with the service, we were a table of two and all service in relation with us was was almost zero, like invisible people. BUT we had two large tables around us, and at least three waiters fully assigned to each of the table, then you can guess why we felt so miserable....
The Chinese Library is rated 4.5 stars by 133 OpenTable diners.
