Hidden away beneath the luxurious halls of the Royal Kings Arms Hotel lies The Crypt. There have been many lives – disco, nightclub and a punk-rock hotspot to name but a few. Now this historic venue, in the heart of Lancaster, has been completely transformed. Reopening its doors as a revolutionary cocktail lounge and eaterie.                             We had a great evening in the Crypt Fri 26Jul 19. The service was excellent, polite very friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. The cocktails were absolutely delicious! The food was very good, my only criticism was that 2 dishes we wanted were not available and this was early doors and would have understood if we were dining later. Would definitely recommend this place.

                            We booked this venue thinking it would be a smart wine bar, with small plates of food and a good ambiance. At least the website and reviews appeared to suggest that. However, there were only 2 other customers there when we arrived, half the candles on the tables were lit and the music too loud for an empty bar. The service was just OK and the food had been reheated in the microwave. Being virtually empty on a Friday night says it all. A friend had warned us against it saying it was dingy and unpopular . Disappointing!!!

                            Went with friends just as a nice place to sit down and have some drinks after a birthday meal for my fiancée. Booked it easy enough, drinks are pricey but worth it, but best of all the staff were really accommodating and friendly. We brought a small cake to have and they took it into the back, lit the candles and brought it out singing and were really sound and cool about it, even though it was a spur of the moment thing. Definitely worth every penny and the staff just made our night.

                            The food was average and pricey. The staff were friendly and attentive but didn't tell us that we were entitled to a free bottle of wine with the three small plates as it was a mid week night so it cost us approx £15 extra. We were the only people in and had to ask them to turn the music down as it was very loud.
