The Factory Kitchen - Los Angeles
Helmed by Restaurateur Matteo Ferdinandi, his wife Beverage Director Francine Diamond-Ferdinandi and their longtime friend and Partner Executive Chef Angelo Auriana, the Factory Kitchen re-defined the approach and the experience to casual dining in the city by combining elements of culinary arts, service, and design.
A traditional Italian Restaurant & Bar in the heart of the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles, the Factory Kitchen culinary concept focuses on local recipes from the Northern Italian Regions; but emphasizes on some Ligurian traditional dishes like Mandilli di Seta al Pesto alla Genovese and the Focaccina Calda al Formaggio di Recco.

What Insiders Are Saying
Factory Kitchen tends to gets overshadowed by its famous Arts District neighbors, but it's one of the best Italian spots in Los Angeles.
To be honest, after reading some of the reviews we were hesitant. We loved it! Went to the bar first, we came early for our reservation. Not the friendliest bartender, but whatever. Our table was waiting for us. Service was attentive without bring bothersome. The food was amazing. We got four items and the bread pudding. We left stuffed, but a happy and content stuffed. 😄 We will definitely be back.
I was introducing a friend to the restaurant; she was enthralled by the ‘handkerchief’ pasta dish.
My second time at The Factory Kitchen and I have to say, not as impressed as I was the first time. Our second entree dish was disappointing. The fish ravioli (on the lunch menu) was woefully under cooked and too hard. We didn't say anything but perhaps we should have.
Although we had reservations, we had to wait over half an hour for our table. We sat at the bar, I had to waive to the bar tender several times so we can get drinks.
Food was so salty that all 4 of us could not eat it.
I don't think I will go back
The best dining experience I’ve had in a long time! The food is as good as what I’ve read.
I'm smitten by the pasta dishes at The Factory Kitchen and always arrive with my mouth watering!
Great food. As good as other restaurants in the area. Loved it.
My boyfriend and I were excited to try this restaurant after hearing about a great meal from friends. Overall, the food was good - some parts were excellent and others were average at best. The service and coursing was rushed: we had three courses on our table at once, our dessert was cleared before we were done and the check was handed to us without asking if we wanted anything else (we did). The excellent start with an exquisite cocktail and generous portion of prosciutto was ruined by the clear attitude on the part of the restaurant to get us (and other tables) out so they could close up. Perhaps the restaurant is best if you dine before 8PM.
What we ate:
Prosciutto: Excellent, generous portion with creamy stracciatella. Only negative note was the fried dough it was served on, it was impossible to cut
Mandilli di Seta: Their famous pesto handkerchief pasta is worthy of its hype. Delicate, rich and creamy
Agnello: These lamb meatballs, a special, were the biggest disappointment. Gamey with no seasoning. The worst part was the realization that IKEA’s Swedish meatballs are better
Scorfano Rosso: Red Bass cooked with a perfectly crispy skin and rich, flakey flesh. Good- not great
Cannolis: Marmalade and Pistachio, Golden, crunchy and delicious
Food was mediocre, service was good and ambiance was nice
Great spot, delicious food. We got the pesto pasta and the gnocchi and both were delicious.
Fine dinner. Space between chairs were a little tight.
Great food, great drinks and extremely helpful staff. Loved it!!
Really didn’t like the food at all some of the people in the party like the food too salty to fatty I will never be going back there again
3 days of vaca in L.A. and by far the best meal we had in town!
Food was delicious, cant wait to go back. Ready to try the Gnocchi.
Decent meal. Very small portions per plate. Had nice experience
Arrived early, theater night with my sister.
Great table for two. Service was fantastic. Enjoyed several small dishes and shared. Best pasta in LA. We’ll be back soon.
Best Italian food I've had in Los Angeles. Many menu items that would be hard to find in Florence or Rome. Very creative. Portions not too big or too small. Terrific small plates. What's not to love?
The food was amazing and the service was perfect! It was our first visit there and we will definitely be back!
Nice atmosphere, but the food was underwhelming. The server did not have any specific recommendations when we asked, and each of the 6 or 7 dishes we ordered was disappointing. Just not good or tasty food unfortunately.
We thought the dishes were so-so. Not commensurate with the high price. Unfortunately we also got a wait person with a bit of attitude and suggestions that were not very good. There are any number of restaurants in downtown L.A. we think are a better value.
Great service. Got there early and immediately were shown our table and received great advice on the different menu options.
I took my boyfriend out for his 30th birthday. We ordered two cocktails. At first I didn’t like drink, I told the waiter and He apologized and brought me a drink I really loved. I really appreciated that. The service was lovely. We got our dishes very quickly. We order two appetizers and two pasta dishes. Finished off with the cannolis. Everything was delicious!!!
The cannoli was fantastic.
I was recommended this restaurant by a friend and wasn’t disappointed. The location is interesting located in a industrial area. The Restuarant is nice with a good vibe. It has that unfinished look to fit in with the surrounding area which causes it to be a little noisy from the patrons. The food though is amazing. All hand made pastas in an open kitchen. The salads are great but big so share one. I had the sausage and veal pasta was really good but rich. My friend had the pesto pasta that I tried and was great too. All in all was a great place.
Great service. The food was so fresh and delicious.
The appetizers and pasta dishes that we chose were all fabulous. Next time I would order more of these and skip the choices from the main dish options. The pork belly that everyone raves about was too fatty and the lamb meatballs were just average. The desserts were also yummy.
There were four of us and we all agreed!
Food is outstanding. Creative. Cooked to perfection. Service was terrific. Would definitely go back when we're in LA.
The Factory Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in Downtown LA. Every time I visit , the Factory Kitchen is always top of my must-see list. This weekend was no exception.
We arrived early and were seated immediately. We enjoyed family style dining and were able to sample a wide variety of delicious large and small Plates’s
We always get tomato and anchovy pizzata focaccia and the prosciutto and ricotta and tonight fare did not disappoint. The tomato sauce was especially delicious.
My son had a terrific pasta and I had the Atlantic red fish. The fish was cooked perfectly and was complemented by some impressive Cooked carrots.
We finished off the meal with delicious strawberry sorbet and a tremendous cannoli that had a perfect amount of caramel, whipped cream, chocolate drizzle made into an Italian pastry that was superb.
It’s always nice to bring home the leftover to enjoy the next day.
The service was great and several servers continually ran our dishes. Served drinks, and clean the table. They worked as a team and we were never in want of anything .
Another 6 start night!!
Came for a birthday dinner. Had my daughter’s boyfriend from Europe who has lived in the US for 6 years and he said it was the best meal he’d had here.
Everything we ordered was delicious and the servings were generous unlike many dtla restaurants. Loved the salad with dates and radishes. The pasta with basil pesto was delicious! Just the right amount of flavor on delicate handkerchief pasta. The duck was tender, juicy and perfectly cooked . Finally, the stuffed Pasta angilotti with veal was superb. The only negative was the fact that it was so noisy even my 27 year old daughter had a hard time hearing our conversation. If they would just put some fabric on the walls to soak up some noise, it would be the best fining experience in Los Angeles.
So delicious the mushroom pizza was to die for and dine LA wine tasting was perfect!
The food was pretty good but I’d say the wine selection was not. You can bring your own bottle though with a corkage fee.
Overall the ambience was nice. Large open space with an open kitchen. It was a bit too loud for me in the restaurant personally. Definitely recommend for those looking for some fresh pasta in the arts district.
Really love the pasta here. The pesto handkerchief is so good. Cocktails are on point. Any food driven person should be happy!
One of our favorite places to eat downtown. Casual atmosphere, but don't let that sway you. The pasta is first class. We've never been let down.
Had a potential Client lunch here and he loved his Sea Bass and I had some pasta stuffed with pork and beef with some kale and a jus sauce...started with the handkerchief pasta per usual...this guy was so happy with his meal he kept saying he was bring his wife back here soon and I loved every bite of mine...love this place every time.
It was our second time here. This time we came in for Dine LA. We made a reservation for 8:30 and it took the hostess 40 minutes to seat us. When I reminded her that we were at the bar, it seemed as if she forgot we were there and there was no apology.
The food is a bit over priced for what it is. The drinks are average. The pastas are great, but I wouldn’t recommend anything else. Most of the food was very salty. We ordered the pork belly on dine LA and the portion was ridiculously large and overly salty, to the point that it was almost inedible. The fish was flavorless. Overall, an expensive average experience.
Amazing food in this restaurant! Waited a half hour for a table - again! Sent to the bar, finished a cocktail and was then seated at 8:30 with a whole group of others whose reservations were at 8pm. But it was a Sunday night and the pace was packed!
Can’t beat the food and if you connect with your waiter - all is good. Because they are busy and have little time.
Great food, good service. Good value for dineLA
Amazing service and food!
