Fish & Chips
Traditional battered cod served with mashed peas, thick cut chips and tartare sauce
Meh. Expensive and pretentious.
Another lovely experience, back in the conservatory. Meet up with friends who really enjoyed it too. Very good food and service.
Fantastic surroundings and atmosphere but simply terrible service. Very slow and they kept bringing us the wrong food/drinks. We even had to hail someone to bring us some plates and remind them that there is meant to be tea with the afternoon tea. Shame as it’s such a lovely place, I don’t know whether they were just short staffed that day but it’s not really acceptable.
Everything was great including service. However, It was slightly slow at the end when bringing out the bill and dessert.
Thanks Everyone lovely meal and time.
Wonderful outdoor atmosphere as always.
Service was quite slow, looks like short of staff.
Truffle chips not, as usual, was almost no cheese and no truffle on.
My friend lost the number for the cloakroom and when we went to get her coat the hosting lady at the reception entrance was very impolite, my friend was treated like she was trying to steal someone else coat!
I suggest upgrading and elevating the service by having the number of the table associated with the items in the cloakroom.
Absolutely loved our visit yesterday. My daughter's birthday present - lunch at The Ivy followed by Hamilton. Made to feel very special by the fabulous staff at The Ivy. Couldn't have asked for a better lunch. Delicious food and excellent, very friendly and professional service. Nothing too much trouble. Thank you so much.
Fantastic friendly service and fun atmosphere. Food surprisingly average but a fun night out. Definitely paying for the name and ambience rather than the food!
The food was basic and there was no organisation for my taste buds all over the place
Second visit this month for lunch. Just love this place. Everything is perfect here. Will be back again soon!
Staff doesn’t care about anything
The manager didn’t bother to solve the problem
I really like this restaurant but sadly yesterday's visit was below par due to poor service. The waitress that took our drinks order clearly failed to register it at the bar, so after about 30 mins I got up and asked her to find them for us. Some time later a waiter came to take our food order and wondered if we wanted drinks, when I said they were supposed to be coming, he said he didn't think there was anything on order at the bar for our table. The new waiter did sort it all out so our lunch experience improved but I still cant rate the experience highly. I had chosen the restaurant to meet a friend who was visiting from overseas so the debacle was a bit embarrassing.
I have always rated The Ivy Chelsea Garden, however on this occasion our party felt very underwhelmed and disappointed.
We had ordered the salt and pepper squid and truffle aracini. Squid was not seasoned at all infact tasteless, the aracini balls dry and truffleless.
Disappointed with our mains also, plates were cold which resulted in warm to cold food very quickly.
Waiting staff did not seem attentive at all, I had to try and catch a waiter/waitresses attention to order food, ask where my drink was as they had forgotten to bring it and also needing to ask for the bill. The restaurant was not even busy. For an establishment to not pay attention to their customers is really shocking. I doubt I will be back again and neither will my friends.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff.
Very nice food and cocktails, however service was extremely poor. Had to ask for the vegetarian menu three times, and had to wait almost 20 minutes for our first drinks to arrive. One meal was brought out fairly swiftly, however the other didn’t arrive for another 10 minutes, with no explanation or apology. Party of two, not sure why it was assumed we’d only ordered one meal. I hoped for an explanation or apology when the bill was brought, however was still offered neither. Tables around us didn’t seem to have any issues, so it was not a a case of the staff being too busy. Very disappointing, and I would like a reply from the establishment.
Not up to the usual level, we waited a long time to be served. I think to be fair everywhere is struggling for staff so am sympathetic. When we did get served it was very good.
Food and service were brilliant. Shame this was over shadowed by a table of 4 men using the 'F' word consistently throughout our meal. The staff didn't say anything and I wanted too, but my wife told me to ignore them, which was difficult as I don't swear like that in front of my wife let alone in a restaurant.
Staff 100% accommodating for our needs - thank you.
As always The Ivy Chelsea Gdn was perfect for lunch.
Service from start to finish was lovely. My wife's 30th birthday was made extra special with a little extra desert and candle.
The food was lovely.
Ordered a side that never arrived. Waitress could not hear a word as it was so loud.
Fries were cold and not truffley at all
Great ambience, food is fair, expected much more though. My toast bread was cold and whole dish was sort of bland. The waiters were very friendly. The hostess was a bit off-putting though. She greeted us with no cameras allowed (after she saw my friend holding a camera) followed by a dry Hello. It set a very tense tone since the moment we stepped into the place. The waiters did a great job at making the experience a slightly better one.
I booked this restaurant for mine and my husbands 10 year anniversary and had the worst service. To begin, the table we were seated was in a very tight small table amongst a family with a toddler and another couple we were practically all sat together which was very disappointing as we wanted a nice intimate evening to celebrate. We then asked if we could be seated in the garden area and had to speak to 4 different members of staff and waited 30 mins until someone actually did anything about it. We also ordered sauces during the meal which never arrived and we had had enough at this point to complain. Only positive thing was the food which was amazing. But I wouldn't come back again for such poor service.
Great hospitality and great food! I always like coming here. Thank you for wonderful time.
The food and service was excellent and the decor is so elegant
Great place and great service. The food was good also.
Thoroughly enjoyed but felt the typical high standards were just not quite being met. Lots of little things, rather than one niggle. Will go again, so not derered.
A great evening, accompanied by quality Chablis 1re Cru. As usual the menu was so extensive, that choice was not easy (a good thing).
This was my wife’s birthday treat, so disappointed to be taken to a table in back room, but pleased to be resettled eventually. At 80-ish we deserve better sometimes.
Excellent food and great service from our waiter Carlos - couldn’t have been more on it! Would recommend the shepherds pie - was delicious. Also great decor and very instaworthy. Can’t wait to visit in summer when it’s warmer. Was sat by the doors to outside so was a bit draughty but couldn’t be helped.
Fantastic ambience and really good service, great food and good value for money, will definitely be back
Split the bill and made the mistake of not checking the amounts paid; when checked the bill and receipt of payment at home realised we were charged two extra pounds in total - may had happened by accident, but be wary of being overcharged.
Apart from that, happy with the service and food.
Great service by Ioaniss. Super attentive, helpful and great attitude. Thanks a lot!
We found our table a little tight for 5 (the banquette bench for 3 and then two chairs) but had a lovely evening nonetheless!
Visiting from America, this was the second Ivy restaurant I have dined at recently, the other being the Ivy restaurant in Brighton. As it was Chelsea I did expect things not to be quite as spacious, but imagine my horror when the staff tried to seat my three person reservation around a table for two. The couple we were seated next too were also horrified as we made them feel unconfortable too. Not a big complainer, but I did ask the host to move us and he did. Not to be deterred the staff tried to seat another group of three at the same table 5 minutes later. We heard them say "that is not accpetable." The thing is, having to ask to be moved lessened our enjoyment of what should be a relatively upscale dining experience. If you don't have room for a reservation then do not accept it. ( Also, pandemic spacing really should have been a consideration as well) We saw rows of tables open in the center which remained open the whole sitting, yet they tried place us in the most inappropriate space. It does not sit right with me.
Infestation of dormice on 6 January 2022 in the Terrace spoilt the evening. Usually the Ivy is great - the non plussed reaction to mice where we were eating was concerning and spoilt an otherwise lovely evening
Spotted a mouse running around the conservatory. Staff didn't appear bothered about this & told us that they knew about the problem. Took an hour for the restaurant manager to appear & speak to us. The cost of our meal was covered by the restaurant but unfortunately our experience was ruined by poor service.
As we where leaving the mouse ran out again & right over another diner's feet.
It’s still a fun place for lunch even if it is a bit samee given the massive roll out of copies all over the place
The restaurant is good, but not suitable for a vegan as there was only a chocolate of a curry or a small salad
The service was slow and specifically asked to be seated inside as I have a child but wasn't and was very cold the heating was poor
A very pleasant pre-activity, early evening meal. Starters were nice but a bit small. Shepherd's pie main was excellent although the chips left quite a bit to be desired. It tasted like they were reheated, needs improvement. Desert was fab. Restaurant was not busy and hence quiet. Service was friendly, efficient and not too over attentive. Overall it was really good value for money. Recommended.
