The Lawn at Castle Hill Inn
Great for a special occasion. Beautiful view, yummy food!
We enjoyed a lovely brunch at Castle Hill on a eautiful sun day. Food was great, service was a little slow but to be fair they were very busy. Can’t wait to return!
Family get together to celebrate our elder Mom’s special birthday. We felt that no request was impossible and all the food and drinks were impeccably presented. We had many dietary restriction in our party and our requests were met seamlessly. We will not forget this special family party in a gorgeous surrounding.
We have been to CH many times - for dinner and summer lunch on the Lawn. We visited before Christmas this year for brunch. And it was my least fave meal at CH. The ambiance is ALWAYS AMAZING. The food menu was somewhat limited, and just quality just ok. If you are going to splurge on a meal here, I would choose dinner or lunch in the summer when you can sit on outside. Service was top notch. Location is beautiful.
Loved it here! Atmosphere was cozy and the views are amazing. We came for lunch when we arrived in Newport for a quick getaway. The waitress as very attentive and helpful and nice. Great cocktails too. I had the grapefruit tequila one. Potato soup was delish. The salad with duck was wonderful. The dried cherries and goat cheese was a perfect combo. My bf has the burger and he said it was yummy and cooked perfectly. We will be back next time for sure!
Beautiful food. Great food. Michele took great care of us. Lovely visit
Very nice, outstanding Oceanview, good food and service
Megan was outstanding as a waitress we had the family in from out of town with a 13 month old everyone was extremely accommodating service and food delicious always a pleasure
While we ate during Restaurant Week, we did expect a more imaginative menu. A burger is a burger but the salmon was very nice . Full marks for excellent service.
We dined here for our anniversary. The ambience was just right overlooking the waters of Newport.
The food and service was amazing! We come here every year for our anniversary.
Our favorite spot to dine while visiting Newport. We've enjoyed both lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. Waterfront views are amazing!
Excellent food and service with an outstanding View!
The food and service at Castle Hill Inn is always excellent, but the view is the showstopping characteristic. Everywhere you look is quintessential Newport.
I went for fall 2018 restaurant week brunch, and had the best Old Fashioned I've ever had, polenta with local mushrooms, and flourless chocolate cake with raspberry.
My one and only gripe is that there were a few flies buzzing around during our whole meal.
We so appreciate that Castle Hill Inn participates in Newport Restaurant Week. It is a beautiful location, with wonderful food and attentive, thoughtful service. Brunch for my party of four was inventive and delicious. Their cocktails were equally fun and inventive. We will be back--and I tell anyone is in the Newport vicinity to take the time to drive out to this stunning, ocean-side location.
Great lunch spot with a great view. The corn dogs were amazing! Definitely sit outside if the weather is good
Everything about this place is top notch all around. Best Sunday brunch in Newport hands down. Lobster hash... do I really need to say anything else?
It was our favorite restaurant in all of Newport !
This is a must when visiting Newport. Great food, beautiful view and delicious food. We went in the summer and fall, we sat in the bar which is typically outside but it was cold so there’s a temporary enclosed structure with heaters- it was wonderful. We were able to take in the beautiful views and enjoy a cocktail even in the cold weather.
My clambake was delicious! There could have been a little more lobster bisque in the portion. The lobster roll was delicious. drinks were great. Ambiance is a 10 plus absolutely love sitting on the lawn in the Adirondack chairs watching the sail boats go by.
Beautiful as always!
Every year my birthday celebration
I always feel special, not rushed. I love that!
Absolutely gorgeous spot. This is a must do when you are visiting Newport. The grounds and view are stunning, the food delicious and the service very good. We came for a casual lunch and to view Castle Hill - it did not disappoint.
You can’t order up the weather but we lucked out with a beautiful day! Wonderful scenic view, attentive service, very good food, fun cocktails~ a memorable afternoon with friends visiting from out of town.
Food was delicious but had issues with stomach distress on my way home and for the entire evening. Not typical of me, at all. Had the chowder, lobster roll & ice tea with lemon.
The Lawn at Castle Hill is simply amazing! Probably the best scenic waterfront location in RI. The lobster roll is perfectly seasoned and loaded with lobster. We also had a scallop BLT Special which was INCREDIBLE! Nice summer cocktails too. I HIGHLY recommend it!
Beautiful location, great food and service. Everything about it was 5 stars except the bees. I can't blame the restaurant since that comes with the territory with al fresco dining but the were terribly aggressive putting a slight damper on the experience.
I loved this restaurant from beginning to end. When we drove up the valet parking attendants were friendly and professional. The hostess that sat us was also very kind and accommodating. We had a great table outside with an incredible view. Our server was great! We both ordered the lobster roll and it was amazing. Tons of sweet lobster cooked perfectly. The chips and coleslaw were also outstanding. Although we choose to sit outside, the inside of the restaurant was beautiful. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Iit is casual enough for everyday but good for special occasion too
This was our first visit to the Castle Hill Inn, and we had lunch at the terrace overlooking the Lawn on a Sunday afternoon. It was mostly a very good experience, but the food was a little disappointing. The service was fantastic, and the ambience outside on the terrace was very special. There was a small jazz band playing, and they sounded great. The wine selection was also outstanding.
We started off with the lobster corn gumbo for an appetizer, and wow, I think it was the best soup/gumbo that I've ever had. The lobster was very fresh, and the gumbo had a great spicy zing to it that I loved. My wife had the Chicken al Mattone and I had the Lobster Roll. I had the Lobster Roll Connecticut style, warm on a toasted roll with butter. The northeast is a great place for lobster rolls, and I've had them everywhere in the area, from the Connecticut coast up through the Cape and all the way into Maine. I would give this lobster roll about a B compared to most of the other lobster rolls that I've had at the best clam shacks and restaurants in the northeast. There was plenty of meat and it was cooked well, but it just didn't taste very fresh.
Unfortunately, my wife's Chicken al Mattone was very disappointing. The chicken was very dry and over cooked, and the skin was not crispy at all, which is one of the things Chicken al Mattone is noted for - crispy skin.
Our desserts were fantastic. I had the Key Lime Pie, and my wife had the Warm Brownie Skillet.
So all in all we had a good experience, but just a little disappointed in the main course meal. Most of the reviews I read before we went were very good, so hopefully this was just an exception, and we do plan to go back and give it another try.
Outside dining with lovely view of the water; perfect location to have a quiet lunch and a cocktail. Brunch menu available on Sundays along with their regular lunch offerings.
Had a reservation for 1:30. Showed up 10 minutes before and they said it would be an hour. Why does this place even have reservations. There were also available tables everywhere. My wife and I are local Newport residents and every chance we’ve given this place has just been awful. They’re lucky they have that view because the service is probably the worst in all of Newport. I hate this but place and my wife is finally on board that it sucks. Won’t be back again.
We got engaged. It was great
This was our second visit for an afternoon luncheon with friends this summer season. The outdoor seating / scenery with stunning water views & active sailing scene was lovely. Your Aperol Spritzers were the best I’ve had !! Our only issue were the bees 🐝 that continued to challenge us during our meal - on both visits . The second luncheon they were a bit more aggressive- in our wine glasses & literally flying under one friends sun glasses 😬 !! I guess that can be chalked up to outdoor dining . Overall, a lovely afternoon with good friends & food
Food was good but disappointed that there were only 4 choices on the menu besides appetizers and salads
The setting is amazing. The food was not as wonderful as previous times. TH eservice was quite poor...had to wait a long time to order, had to beg for water an silverware, was charged for something we did not order and server's reaction was to be miffed.
Spectacular views and lively scene make The Castle Inn a must do and see experience for one and all! A gem on the eastern shore!
Beautiful view. Wonderful staff. Incredible food. Best calamari I’ve ever had.
The Lawn is outstanding! Beautiful view of water from inside the dining room. Sunday Jazz Brunch is great—choice of brunch or lunch menu. Service and food outstanding! Fried Green Tomato Benedict is outstanding!
Must do in Newport!!!
The food was excellent, as always. We were a little disappointed that the great music selection we heard a month ago was not playing. The 1920-30s jazz really added an extra element to the overall atmosphere.
This was absolutely amazing. A slice of heaven on earth. Highly recommend.
