Amazing restaurant and service. I sprained my ankle while in Edinburgh and needed to find a few places near my Airbnb that I could hobble over to easily and this was perfect. The first time I came with a friend, they seated us without our realizing that this place fills up quickly and reservations are helpful. We stayed a bit after closing and no one rushed us out. Super sweet staff and delicious food (the mussels are a must). The second time I made a reservation and went by myself but I didn’t realize the restaurant had an upstairs and they weren’t aware I was on crutches so they helped me up the stairs to be seated. The food is great and the service was above and beyond. Thanks for helping make my trip a little easier!

The food were delicious, but every time I visited, I realized there were lots of Asians on the first floor . It seemed to me that the staff would control the nationalities. I do not the reason. The staff did not pay attention to guests very much. That made me a bit irritated

Excellent food and wine here on a busy Saturday night, Steaks were amazing and the seafood wonderful. The only criticism was that the potions were massive for the Seafood Linguine. We all enjoyed the experience and will return.

I have now been here twice and this may be one of my favourite restaurants for steak. I had the fillet which was cooked perfectly to medium rare which came with chips which were perfect - crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. First time I went I had some of the cocktails which were also pretty good. The service was quick and the waiters were polite and attentive.

Our party of 5 booked our table well in advance and we noted that tables for up to 6 people could be occupied for 2.5 hours. On arrival at the requested time, reception took us to a table set for 4; that was quickly rectified to accommodate 5 but we were informed that we needed to vacate in 1hr 45 mins. Service was quick, fortunately. Our food was as good as it has been for many years and this restaurant is always our first ‘go to’ when visiting the city. Staff are efficient, obliging and most welcoming. The premises are not huge but there is something very special about the place and this is reflected in the high turnover of clientele. Thank you all once again.

Very nice food and service. The haddock fish and chips was the best we’ve ever had. With such nice food and service it was surprising the menu sheets were a bit dirty to touch and I’m glad I didn’t have to sit in the hard wooden chair. However, overall, a really positive and enjoyable evening.

Nice small restaurant but felt a bit close to diners next to us. Walked in door and was shown to a table rather near the door so my partner asked of we could have another table, don't think the female host was too impressed with being asked for this request, body language and reply is everything and it told me she wasn't the most welcoming host. Young oz lad couldn't have been nicer. Starter arrived prompt but we had to ask for our drinks we ordered again and the main took about 40 mins to arrive, I was almost ready to leave because of the wait, it was only fish n chips so nothing time consuming. Overall not impressed and a bit pricey but it is the centre of Edinburgh.

We came up to Edinburgh on the morning train to celebrate a big birthday - booked here weeks ago for a late lunch and we were not disappointed with our choice of venues - everything was first class. The meal, wine and the service we received was top notch. Honestly we all wished it was closer to us in Newcastle. We do want to especially mention 2 ladies that served us Mua and Colleen they were absolutely fantastic- right amount of attentiveness and chat without being overbearing lovely young ladies and an asset to your restaurant. That goes to all of your fabulous staff from front of house to the chefs - We will be back next time we are in your area. Thank you for making our day very special.

Booked this place on a bit of a whim after being very unorganised and not booking anywhere.... and it did not disappoint. The food, service, and everything was amazing. I had the mussels and they were delish. My partner had the fish and chips and he said it was one of the best he'd ever had. Would definitely return.

Food was delicious, definitely the food was perfect. Service quality also was perfect. Everyone was so kind and positive. There is only one problem I saw in the venue; The Upstairs is a bit tiny which is okay, we didn’t have any space issue but there are two tables just next to toilets. If you are seated in one of them, most probably you’ll eat your food while looking at the toilet and also you can hear sounds coming from those toilets. I totally understand them because they want to use every space inside to have more customers but at the same time it would be better to think from the customer's perspective. Probably no one wants to have dinner (or any food) in front of the toilet. I have asked the lady who is helping me to change my table and she found another table for me immediately. I thank everyone for this great food and lovely venue.

Overall food experience was average, nothing special. Had the crab and that was a trial, little meat and lots of poking with little to show for the effort. Wife had the fish and chips, bit greasy and lacked flavor.

This restaurant was wonderful. The buckets of mussels were enormous and DELICIOUS !! I got the one with whiskey, bacon and cream. Awesome! The fish in the fish & chips was white and flaky and perfectly cooked. The drinks were delicious and a great value - we had Old Fashioneds. The service was warm and friendly and efficient. We would highly recommend this place.

Best meal out we've had in a long time. The service was excellent and staff were super friendly and helpful. The scallops, seafood linguine and fish and chips were fabulous. We will definitely be back when we are in Edinburgh again. 100% recommend.
