The sister restaurant to State Bird Provisions (right next door), The Progress is also the vision of chef-owners Stuart Brioza & Nicole Krasinski, but with a broader scope: a choose-your-own-adventure family-style menu that exemplifies contemporary, rustic California cooking. Dinner features an à la carte menu, all designed to be served family style. The bar in front is open to walk-ins all night and features our full menu. An expansive and eclectic wine list as well as a carefully curated cocktail program round out the festive offerings.

The Progress, on Fillmore, is a great time and a good scene, with excellent food.

Had a great dinner. Truly a place "Fit for Foodies," as OpenTable suggests. Portions are a bit small, and prices a bit high. But, you get what you pay for in the high quality and incredible creativity in the food, and the stellar service.

We love the flavors and atmosphere at The Progress. Great wine list and cocktails. They are also very knowledgeable about celiac disease, and are able to modify many dishes. We discovered The Progress a few months ago and have been back several times. It's perfect spot for date night.

Unbelievable food and service. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helped guide us with food and cocktail preferences. Every dish was unique and delicious. We are from NYC with a ton of dining options and wish The Progress was closer to home. Highly recommend!

Went here for my wife’s birthday... second time going there and just so good! The dishes were simple but complex and not pretentious. Some fine dining places aren’t that warm... this was the opposite of that. From atmosphere, to server interaction, to food... this was like going to a friends house for dinner... but that friend has a Michelin Star. Can’t recommend enough!

We had an outstanding meal at The Progress and would definitely go back. Each dish was very thoughtfully prepared and incorporated beautiful, fresh ingredients. Service was excellent and it's a really nicely designed space. The only mix up is that our leftovers went home with someone else, but the staff was very apologetic and offered to replace it for us. Excellent cocktails and wine to boot--I wish I lived in San Francisco to make it a regular place!

First rate service. It was enjoyable just to watch the staff move around the restaurant making service look effortless. The food was amazing. A nice selection of small plates focused on fresh foods...tomatoes, beans, peppers. A delicious halibut ceviche and a great salmon main course topped off by a lovely dessert. This will be on our list for multiple returns!

Our server ruined our dining experience. He was rude, uneducated and insisted on calling the "bourgone de cremant" a "bottle of champagne" regardless of the many attempts I made to explain to him the differences. He took forever to take our order, mixed up our food order, and later told us to leave and that we could not have dessert because there are other people waiting to dine at the Progress. Oh by the way, we did have a proper reservation that we were on time for. Food was decent but service left a nasty aftertaste.

One of very best restaurants in San Francisco. Definitely deserves its Michelin star. Great value for the money. Least-stuffy Michelin-starred restaurant I've ever been to.

What an amazing meal and experience. All of the food was great and very memorable. With all of the plates available for sharing we were able to try even more things which was awesome. The most memorable things were the oysters, the ribeye and the duck. oh and the Mezcal cocktail and the wine, and the heirloom tomatoes - OK I guess it was everything.... Would gladly recommend and can't wait to go back

Server a bit pretentious. It’s good food, not gold bullion. There is balance between overly chatty and appearing to be standing above the dinner. Lighten up. The focus should remain on the menu. I asked for bread and felt chided. How much better had the server explained the chefs strategy for no bread.
The Menu creative and space is nice atmosphere.

I also asked if I could order an item brought to table next to me and was informed that these items were sent to special guest and honored by the chef. I have never been so insulted. Maybe the chef should have a private club and only invite those special few? The item looked like cornbread. If I were the server, I would have responded “ let me see what I can do”.

I enjoyed the meal. The pretentiousness and chef only items just not worth coming back. Maybe I just go to your other restaurant State Bird, food there was great minus bad manners of chef and pretentiousness. Too many restaurants in SF to go out and be insulted. Not likely to return.
