The Verandah - The Repulse Bay
Top notch place, fantastic service and good food. Expensive but you get a first class experience.
I was really enjoyed!
Had afternoon tea set for 2. Nice selection of pastry. More than enough for 2. Quiet and comfortable. Servers are prompt. However Chinaware is too old and tarnished. Want to visit again.
Nice place for family dinner. A bit dark for kids
I took my mum and my aunt here and we had a relaxing afternoon tea experience. The ambiance is excellent and the food was perfect. Loved the payed back atmosphere while maintaining class and elegance. Will def come back !
Delighted to have been given a window seat
Great view and an impressive range of starters and desserts. Only improvement
would have been some petits fours or chocolates with the coffee.
Continues to be an institution. May, 2018 Sunday Brunch was excellent. The buffet part was varied, well presented, and delicious. The entrees were small and not up to the restaurant's normal level. The overall service and ambiance is still the best Sunday location in Hong Kong.
This could be a charming place for lunch. Unfortunately, the dining room is kept at a freezing level temperature, which makes it uncomfortable and unpleasant, to truly appreciate a meal.
Also, the taxi dropped us off, in an underground parking lot, in the back of the shopping center. So we ended up entering the restaurant from the back side. This basically defeats the purpose of going all the way to this heritage house, if we completely miss out, on the colonial architecture of the facade, upon arrival...
Okay, if Open Table insists, here is my review ;)
It was the last moment in Hong Kong where I flew from Tokyo for Art Basel Hong Kong. It's been my habit to spend last tea time in this place viewing beautiful Repulse Bay beach since I firstly visited HK 25 year's ago. It was fantastic to get a seat on window as I requested through Open Table even it was not centre, and afternoon tea treats were delicious and cooked in right way.
However we deeply disappointed for service compared to the one I received in the past. For example, teapots are served with plastic bagged towel on handles instead of quilted cloth covers. I astonished to see that setting and the other servant came and changed those plastic bagged towel to quilted cloth on the table. (Please imagine how it was awkward moment for me who introduced this place to my friend who never been there before)
Plus, we asked the servant to take photo and checked it, then nicely asked to retake again but all we received from him was the word "I should call my colleague because I AM BUSY".
Finally, when my friend asked a doggy bag the servant roughly brought (almost threw) an over-sized plain box and an plain brown bag.
Well, we are not Chinese, but English speaking Japanese visitor to HK for business, (other servants are continually smiling and kept chatting to Chinese and Western clients) however I have been so for long every time I were this restaurant and never had such experience. I am feeling sad both way; made my friend not satisfy 100% there and lost my favourite place in HK.
Great for couple or family.
Loved interiors inside and outside.
Food was just average for us.
The Verandah is the most ideal spot in Hong Kong for a quiet trip back to colonial times. It is a beautifully preserved piece of history on Repulse Bay. Whether you go for Sunday brunch, lunch or dinner you'll not regret going to Verandah. The service was also incomparable. Just a fantastic afternoon.
The Verandah - The Repulse Bay is rated 4.5 stars by 11 OpenTable diners.
