TJ's Seafood Market and Grill- Oak Lawn
A wonderful Valentine's dinner.
We had a great experience- service was stellar and the food was excellent. Oysters for an appetizer, then red fish and sea bass, while ending with creme brûlée. While the wine list is not big, what they have on hand will please you.
We enjoyed our visit to TJ’s. The Korean wings were good but a bit over salted, we still enjoyed them. The Caesar salad was very flavorful, the dressing was abundant. My guest got the chicken penne and said it wasn’t as flavorful as they had expected. But we still enjoyed our experience, the service was great!
Food was excellent. Was surprised by the atmosphere as it is a market too. But the food was very good. Had the special.
The special was truly special! I enjoyed the flavor from sauce on the fish to the flavorful veggies.
If you love seafood like we do, this is the kind of place you could eat at every week. Excellent quality that you can order in a healthy preparation. The choices are good and our server was outstanding at helping us order and checking on us. The Oak Lawn location is in a strip center, and is limited to a relatively short selection of beers and wines.
It’s always a treat savoring the fresh flavors of the sea. From $2 oysters on Sunday after 6 pm to half priced wines on Tuesday’s it’s a hidden gem in all of the plethora of restaurant throughout Dallas.
The food is fresh, simple, and well-prepared. Wait staff is professional, attentive, and knowledgeable. Definitely should go here more often.
Excellent find with the freshest of seafood. Very good staff.
It was great!!!
We had the shrimp cocktails and fish tacos! Both are awesome and the best in Dallas! Our waiter was Rene and he was fantastic.
They do not always have product in stock
Get the lobster roll!
Just a fabulous meal with great service. The freshest ingredients made for a delightful evening.
TJs is a real neighborhood gem serving amazing seafood in a quiet and inviting atmosphere. The most relaxing dinner we've had in a while.
Lovely place. We were looking for a quiet place for dinner and was not disappointed. We were early diners so the place was not full...what we wanted. I had the gumbo , greay, fish tacos with coconut fish, great. And my wife had the salmon board, great. Service was spot on and price points where they should be. Will go back.
We had been to TJs on previous occasions and the meal was good. Friday must have been an off night. The staff seemed rushed. My fish was overcooked and my soup was cold with a film on top. Probably won't go back. I don't mind spending $50 a person but not for the poor quality we had last night.
I really thought the food was great. Had some original seafood options. Greeted nicely. Got to our table right away, no waiting. The service started out ok. My first glass of wine was spilled on me by the person delivering food. Total accident which I understood. The glass poured all over my shirt and pants. Luckily the glass didn’t break until it hit the floor so no glass on me. I felt like I was being blamed for this spill at first until I informed them it was not me. I was given a linen napkin which had no absorption to help dry me off. Then another employee who was working brought me a dry towel to help dry it off a few minutes later.
I was brought another glass of wine and was told I would not be charged and I was not. I ordered a second glass, which when it arrived was not the correct wine. I did not drink it. When the bill came I asked the server. At first would not take responsibility for bringing the wrong wine. Then still insisted on charging me for it. After a ridiculous list of excuses he talked to the manager that took off the wine charge. Then when he came back to the table he very rudely pointed out the wine was not on the bill. As if he was doing me a huge favor. Remind you I was still sitting in wet pair of pants and shirt. I felt the server was just rude, arrogant and almost condescending about it. That experience left us leaving not wanting to go back here again. I was not looking for freebies or anything. But being charged for being spilled on. Then for a glass I didn’t order was not right in my opinion.
Always fresh seafood of the highest quality. We live on their oysters week after week, and they never disappoint! Great waitstaff, what else is there to say? Go quick!
This was our first time visiting TJ's. We had seafood gumbo, salmon, coconut rice. Our kids had enchiladas and the salmon burger. Everyone loved their dinner. This is a small little gem in a shopping strip. I would highly recommend checking this out. I'll definitely be back.
The shrimp tacos were the best I've tasted and the crab cake was perfect. I absolutely loved the squash. The key lime cheesecake was divine!
Wonderful as always!!
I love the crab cakes and fries!
Service is always amazing
One of our favorites! The food is always delicious and a beautiful presentation. The service is exceptional
Best bronzino I have had . Totally enjoyed our entire
Great service, great food. The freshest fish and oysters in town and an excellent small wine list.
I left feeling great! The best seafood meal I’d ever had. Once I got home and through the night I got real sick. Serve food poising. Was going to go back tonight but I don’t think I can ever give it another go around after how horribly sick it got me.
Love the food and
TJs is always a pleasure!
Excellent in all phases. Food, service, value all very very good.
We were surprised walking into TJ's, as it looks more like a market than a restaurant. But all that means is that the fish was fresh and superbly prepared. Rene was an awesome server, who explained in detail, all of the options on and off the menu. My wife and I ordered the Ivory Salmon which was lighter than your typical salmon, more like a white fish, but it was excellent. The dining room is small, intimate, but casual and not pretentious. We will be back.
Great seafood but be prepared to be a little cramped seating-wise. Servrs very freindly. Hailbut was good but not exceptional. A little expensive for the overall experience.
Amazing seafood. Knowledgable staff. Rene steered us to an amazing house special Halibut and excellent wine pairings with both of our entrees. Unassuming place, not very large but EXCELLENT food and service. Can't recommend high enough.
Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. This is a sign of everyone who works in the restaurant being invested in the quality of the food they prepare. I am not very fond of fish but the server had me sold into ordering the Brown Butter Branzino just by the way he described its preparation. And it was an excellent recommendation.
Our guests loved the food and the ambience. Will I come here often? No, because I think special places like this one deserves only special times, to preserve its specialness! :)
Excellent service by Amber! The fishmonger was also highly knowledgeable and assured the highest quality in the choices on both the menu and fresh market selections.
A hidden gem!
Landon was a great waiter!
Service was great. The place itself is small. There is not much ambiance. the prices are reasonable. It is not a fancy place. I would say it is more a casual seafood restaurant. It was not one of those places that stands out. Food was good.
Great food and service
Food is always exceptional - best seafood in Dalllas. Everyone of the service staff is great but Edwardo was especially good yesterday.
I love TJ’s food but was very disappointed with our recent experience at the Oak Lawn location. Our waitress seemed annoyed with us from the minute we arrived, despite us being friendly. I had to wave her down a couple of times to get her attention. Another server seemed like it was a major inconvenience for him to bring by a napkin (to clean up food left on the table after they took our plates - something the server should have done in the first place). My friend and I have both waited tables in the past and understand the stresses and challenges that waitstaff can face but this was simply a case of the staff not being nice and choosing, instead, to be unfriendly and blatantly rude. I don’t know what the deal is there, if they don’t like their job or if it’s a stuffy “vibe” their trying to give off. Whatever it is, we won’t be going back any time soon. Instead we’ll head somewhere else nearby in the Design District or Oak Lawn area. There are numerous options to choose from (in fact she recommended Meddlesome Moth or Carbone’s next door but I insisted on TJ’s after seeing their lunch menu). Won’t make that mistake again! The food wasn’t good enough to make up for the poor service.
