Twenty, Princes Street, Grill & Smokehouse
We were in Edinburgh with friends, for our first ever visit. The restaurant was close to our hotel and we had a lovely meal on our first night. The two young ladies who served us were lovely and happy to engage with us at our instigation. We had a table by the window, so we also enjoyed the fabulous view. Having so enjoyed our evening, we returned again the next evening, and this time a young male waiter served us and we enjoyed the same service and interaction, as well as the delicious food. We would have returned again on our third and last night, but unfortunately they were unable to accommodate us due to a large private function.
This place is amazing and the staff are great
The best staff member is Thomas
Thanks for a brilliant night
Lovely meal, and fantastic location directly opposite Edinburgh Waverly station. The restuarant is a beautiful space, well-decorated and quirky. We had the lunchtime menu - 2 courses for £16. Food was delicious and very quickly served. My only slight complaint would be that the waiting staff could have been a little quicker taking our order, and coming to give dessert menus etc. Would recommend for a nice lunch in the city.
Our waiters and waitresses were absolutely outstanding. The food was delicious but we had to wait over 45 mins between courses and after our order. If the restaurant was busy I would I would understand however it was extremely quiet. This really let the amazing food and hospitality of the servers down.
The whole experience was good. Our only issue was the lack of beers available and the small portions provided on some of the main courses
Beautiful experience from start to finish. The view, service and foods was absolutely delicious
A warm welcome followed by delicious food and attentive service
Generally enjoyed our meal/visit. Food was nice and service friendly and keen. A little over-priced for what you get - particularly the desserts and wine - but that's the location and castle-view for you.
Really nice place, with really good food, and all with a view of Old Town. The fish was incredible, sides and desserts just a shade less so. Service was uncoordinated, but sincere and friendly. In general a very nice place for a solid, elegant and affordable meal. Would highly recommend, particularly if you're staying in or near New Town, as it's very convenient.
Cannot fault the food, everything that was ordered was perfect.
The service was a little slow. We had to ask for our order to be taken and when the drinks arrived only the lager's arrived and we had to then ask where the wine for the table was.
Another great dinner at Twenty.
The staff work hard to provide exciting food and great service, even at very busy times.
We will definitely be back soon.
The service was so friendly and on point at both the dinner and breakfast that I had a Twenty. The space is absolutely beautiful. Large historic room overlooking The Balmoral Hotel and up to the Castle.
My lamb served three ways was delicious. Highly recommend the restaurant whether staying at the hotel or not
We booked for somewhere to have Sunday lunch and it didn't disappoint! The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us, would highly recommend and will definitely be back soon.
Enjoyed our meals which were well presented. Very good and helpful waiting staff. Nice table location in lovely surroundings with a fabulous view. Great evening.
We went here for our anniversary and requested a table by the window. Without fail, we were seated at a window table overlooking Princes St. and a great view of Old Town and the Edinburgh Castle. Excellente serviciso was provided by Enrique and Marilyn for our meal as well as drinks. Very attentive and professional service. We ordered the Chateaubriand for two and it was prepared wonderfully. Tfhe presentation by Enrique tableside was very impressive and he did a great job. I would highly recommend Twenty for your special occasion in Edinburgh.
Time after time the place doesn’t disappoint.
This is a difficult one, we had a perfectly pleasant evening, food was good, service was good but not sure I would highly recommend. The atmosphere was a bit flat for a busy Saturday night, lights are bright and not particularly inviting. The menu was good but being honest there were no starters I would have picked and I’m not a fussy eater. Had steak for main course which was lovely but side of roasted vegetables a disappointment - peppers aubergine onion and lemon! No greens which would have been my preference. Staff were all lovely though and couldn’t be faulted, I just don't think I’ll be rushing back, underwhelmed would be my best description of the evening.
Served the wrong order and was told by the Manageress that the fillet steak served was a better quality than the rib eye steak originally ordered. She almost insisted that I take it, however she never charged for the steak, but the pint was it was not what I ordered and it was over cooked. The general service was poor we ordered coffee and Brandies by the time the coffee came the brandy was drank. Would not return to eat ever again
Good table, great views, good service, nice cocktails in bar.
Over-priced food. Poor portion size.
Vegetarian choice limited.
Service was cold, unfriendly.
We had a lovely table at the window and had the excellent 3 course lunch which you can have up to 6pm. Staff were very attentive and the restaurant is very modern and spacious. Would definitely recommend
It really was all about choice!
We had a lunch deal with 2 courses.
Desserts were all excellent!
I had burger which I enjoyed. A friend had macaroni cheese etc which she really enjoyed but the third member of the party chose the chicken crepe and I must say it didn’t look very appetising or very much. She could only find one bit of chicken in the crepes! We should have mentioned it at the time but unfortunately we didn’t! We shared a bit of our meals with her to fill her up!
Plats excellents et très bien présentés
Serveurs compétents mais peu souriants
Absolutely lovely restaurant. We went for Sunday lunch and it was gorgeous. Views were excellent, looking over Princes street gardens. We were booked for 12.30 and it was quiet but gradually got busier.
Excellent service and great steaks during a particularly frenetic time for the city. not the cheapest but my friend commented it was the best steak she had had for a long while.
We went for my partners Birthday dinner, the food was amazing especially the steaks and would definitely recommend this restaurant to all friends and family
Brilliant gem in the heart of the city, found it by accident on open table looking for a last minute meal and couldn't of asked for a better experience/meal. The baked Alaska is a must!
Good service, food and ambience as with previous visits.
Had a beautiful meal here on a recommendation from a friend. Couldn’t fault anything. Would definitely go here again.
Horrendous service from start to finish.
You have to go round looking for waiters to help. And even then you don't get acknowledged. Rude staff. No. Attentive. Waited over an hour for food.
Second visit and everything was fantastic. We had a great table in the window overlooking Princes Street and will definitely book again next time we are visiting Edinburgh.
Excellent food, beautiful surroundings, will definitely return, had a wonderful experience
Booked a meal before attending the tattoo. Excellent food with friendly service. Will definitely be returning when we eat out in Edinburgh.
Have visited the Edinburgh fringe festival last three years and have eaten here each time. Nothing has changed. Still outstanding for me.
Terrible service . God wring drinks and then took about 20 minutes to change the drink. Roast beef Sunday dinner came and none of us could eat the meat as it was 2 slices of fat , no meat on it at all. But no staff were around or came near our table so we couldn't tell them or get the option to change it . We then found someone who offered a discount on the food however we were still left hungry as we would have preferred to send it back. Sat with an empty bottle of wine for ages . We then had to find someone to ask for dessert menu and another bottle of wine. Terrible service . The only thing that made up for the whole experience was the baked Alaska dessert !
Loved the decor with all the pictures of Edinburgh/scotland history. The waiters/waitress were helpful and courteous. There was a good food selection for kids, veg and non veg.
I have nothing but praise for the food and the waiting staff everything was perfect - HOWEVER the staff at the Jupiter bar attached really need to up their game a bit - arriving half an hour early for our meal so that we could have a quick drink before we dined we walked in and were promptly told by a waiting staff member that there were no seats and we couldn't stand at the bar. If the restuarant staff hadn't been able to give us our table early I reckon I may have given up and found somewhere else to eat - maybe the restuarant needs it's own couple of tables for this sort of thing happening?
Porterhouse cooked perfectly. Attentive staff, lovely ambiance. We'll be back.
The food was amazing and the restaurant is such a nice setting but based on the service I don’t think I will be back. Our server was very rude, we felt as if we were a hinderance. We had to ask for a drinks order and food order to be taken. His attitude in general was disgusting and made us feel very uncomfortable.
Service was slow despite informing the staff we had a show to see.
Food was mediocre. Steaks felt “pre-cooked” then re-heated (barely). Could not cut through steaks until the waiter brought a sharper knife.
Looked like the restaurant was under-staffed which made it difficult to get the waiter’s attention
Restaurant was half-full during a busy period which suggests we were not alone in our assessment.
