Nice spot. Great atmosphere. Wine list was a bit pricey.
Great service, excellent food!
Our second time to eat there. It was as good or better than the first.
Love everything about this place! The staff, food, and ambiance! We are becoming regulars.
Went here for my anniversary as it is where I met my fiance. I called ahead and requested the same table we sat at upon meeting. When we showed up, the manager had full place settings on the table with flowers and white linens. The manager also greeted us with a bottle of champagne to celebrate the evening. To say the least, they went above and beyond my expectations. The service and food was perfect. My fiance and I are looking forward to the next time we eat here!
Great food and drinks! Excellent service!
This has become my neighborhood spot! Food is
Always good.. much improved in my last few visits!
Been twice recently. Great service and food both times. Louder on weekend night but still able to enjoy quiet conversation. The mussels and fries are great. The trout was perfectly prepared. Beet salad is very good. Good wine list and the cocktails are great!
We chose to try Up On Knox for my birthday dinner after seeing a positive review in a recent D magazine. Since we had our children in tow it had items on the menu that would appeal to their tastes. The restaurant had a casual atmosphere with wicker chairs and patrons wearing jeans. The service was quick and attentive and we quickly were offered and served beverages. I enjoyed a glass of Loire valley Sancerre and my husband sipped an old fashioned. The wine list was pretty decent. We ordered Texas oysters Rockefeller which had bread crumbs, spinach and jalapenos. Their flavor was mostly overpowered by the strong cheese but the texture was excellent. We also ordered the calamari which were quickly snapped up by our children. The batter was crisp and light while the calamari was perfectly done. They were served with a citrus sauce that was better left on the table. I ordered the veal, which was served with an outstanding side of Brussel sprouts and celery mash. The veal itself was tender and cooked delicately but was served with a Marsala sauce that would have been excellent had it not been tainted by tarragon. My husband ordered the ribeye which was cooked perfectly. The kids enjoyed their meals of meatballs and Cajun chicken with frites.
The disappointment I felt about the Tarragon-terrorism that made the veal inedible was dashed away after I was introduced to their desserts. All was forgiven when I took a bite into their exquisite bread pudding with pecans. My husband doesn’t really care for bread pudding but he LOVED this dessert. They also included a diced fruit dessert with merengue whip that was outstanding. Clearly this is where they shine. It made me want to return for breakfast or lunch to see if they had any other hidden talents. Judging by this meal, It was my opinion that their dinner is overpriced for the quality.
Reservation on New Years Eve with pre fixe menu. The restaurant was busy but we waited over 45 min for food which was cold when it came out. I love this restaurant and will go again but will avoid holidays! Up on Knox did comp one of our meals for the service which was very nice and made up for the disappointment.
We had visited a few months back for wine and appetizers. That visit was wonderful and their sommelier great but our second visit did not bode as well. I hate critiquing this way but the food was just simply off (in portions, seasoning, and sloppiness of the plating).
Mind you, this was a set menu for NYE but I would assume it would be dialed in for a key night. The experience and food were unaided by a set menu price that didn't fit either.
I want this place to work out as it is in the neighborhood. They have very attentive service but the food itself needs a makeover. Go for the sommelier and bar but don't stay for the food.
We had much higher expectations after having read prior reviews (including D Magazine). French onion soup was the most bland I've ever had and the sauce on the scallops had a slight medicine flavor. Add that to an underwhelming $14 martini. Marking Up on Knox off our list.
First visit to Up and we were impressed. Excellent food and service. We enjoyed the meatballs appetizer and the Cajun chicken with French fries. We will be back.
Very professional and knowledgeable staff...cocktails and menu are very creative and interesting. Table settings, glassware used for cocktails and presentation of hot, delicious food will bring us back again. A gem in a lovely urban neighborhood.
Lunch menu was limited and quality and taste of food was sub par but pricey
This was my
Always a pleasure -- food, atmosphere, the works. Doesn't hurt that it's two blocks from us, either. :)
We made reservations, however were seated on the patio.
The menu changed and the king crab was no longer on the menu! We should have left then. We ordered bone marrow-only to be told it had sold out (it was only 7 pm!). Still wanting seafood, I ordered the scallops. They were rubbery pencil erasers! Over-cooked. Really disappointing overall.
Our first trip to Up and we were not disappointed. The mussels were some of the best we have ever had and we have eaten mussels all over the world. The trout and scallops entrees were excellent and our service was impeccable
Food was not very good and our service was very slow
Awesome! Loved it.
The staff is excellent but none of us thought our meal was very good.
Great place for drinks ... great speciality cocktails and wine list.
This place was recommended to me by a friend and I’m so glad I took her recommendation!!
Lunch/Birthday Celebration with my Sweet MotherinLove and the Service, the Food everything was DELICIOUS!!! They even surprised us with dessert, I’ll definitely be back to try other things on the menu! Love the Atmosphere!
Such a great spit... food NEVER disappoints...cocktails always good...plus a fun environment
Always a fun place. Delicious onion soup and chopped salad!
We really enjoyed being at this restaurant...friendly service, very good food...we were treated very well.
Great location. Food was fantastic. Our waitress was so friendly and fun. We really enjoyed our meal.
An overall disappointment. Service was terse. Food was subpar.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary at Up On Knox . The service was wonderful and the food was perfect !!
Excellent service. good food. Steak ordered medium well was medium rare and had to be sent back but handled well.
Think Sunday night was an off night for the kitchen
Good food, but the drinks aren’t worth the price
Kavo was our server and she was very pleasant
Didn’t have the bottle of wine we requested. No specials. Undercooked beef and over cooked scallops. Amateur hour. Unattended during most of the meal.
Love the service - great vibe. Food always consistent.
We sat at the bar and we had to get our server/bartender’s attention several times through out the meal. Once to give our drink order, next to order our meal and finally to get the check. That service alone really dampened the experience. I would try it again, but as a last option.
We both had Cobb Salad with Grilled Salmon and it was divine. Service was friendly and ambiance was perfect for lunch. Happy place to eat:)
Excellent as always
