Via Emilia 9
Via Emilia 9 in Miami Beach, Florida is the first of its kind in this city. A regional Italian restaurant, Via Emilia 9 only serves menu items that have actually been imported from Italy (flour, eggs, fruits and vegetables being the only exceptions for good reason). The pasta here is made fresh daily from these Italian ingredients. You can even partake in truffle tastings to help better inform your palette.
While there are a number of great entres to choose from at Via Emilia 9, the stewed veal cooked in milk definitely stands out. The veal with cooked ham and cheese is another favorite.
It’s always the best real Italian restaurant in Miami Beach, fabulous home made pastas, burrata
Went for the 1st time and loved this little secret. We are definitely returning and are telling all of our friends. Everything was remarkable outstanding!
We’ve dined here on numerous occasions with both food and service excellent. This particular evening the food was terrific but service was abysmal. We waited almost an hour between the first and second course, failed to have water glasses refilled despite two requests, and a delay getting our bill at the end of the meal.
Italian food at its finest without the hype and price tag! Cute place, great wait staff, good wine and such tasty bolagnese.
Obne of our favorites in Miami!
It's great to see Via Emilia expand their restaurant. This is authentic Italian prepared by authentic Italians, which is rare in Miami. Great homemade pasta in a lovely little restaurant!
Very cute and cozy atmosphere with a mainly antipasto and pasta menu—all of which were delicious. This is a smaller kitchen but with very fresh Italian ingredients and much of the final processing done on site. The service was courteous but a little slow with some minor confusion on the order on a slow night. I might try it again for the food.
Very authentic Italian food great pasta
Entering Via Emilia felt like I was stepping into a family restaurant in Italy. A woman was making homemade pasta by the window, a large curing room displayed meats and cheeses. We were seated promptly in a very attractive, small room. We enjoyed our wine selections and ordered several pasta dishes which were all excellent. My daughter who spent 6 months in Rome last year remarked that "this tastes like Italy". The pace of the service was good, not too fast, not too slow. Our waitress who appeared to possibly be a family member of the owner was very helpful in making suggestions. Overall I would very much recommend this restaurant if you want to get away from the typical fare of Miami.
Quaint. Homemade pasta. Family owned and operated. A local neighborhood gem!!
we really enjoyed the home made authentic italian food and the casual atmosphere .
The food at Via Emilia 9 is commendable. But the dining experience we had was extremely disappointing. My companion and I were directed to a table in the main dining room where a party of at least 30 people was already seated. By the time we were served our appetizer the noise was deafening. I don’t mean to criticize that group—anyone with experience of restaurants knows that large parties are noisy. I would argue that if Via Emilia accepted the reservation for a group that large they should have offered them the entire dining room. We requested to be moved but all the smaller tables in the other room were taken. I asked if we could be seated at the high table in that room and was told “no—it is for larger parties”. So we took a table outside where an incredibly bright light was aimed directly at our table. (Why is that light necessary?) There was no way to block it. What truly angers me, though, is that later in our meal I saw that two different groups of 2 people each had been seated at the table I had requested inside. It was a Monday night at 8 o’clock. I believe Via Emilia had little risk of a party of 6 or 8 suddenly showing up and a much greater obligation to make good on our reservation which had been made days in advance. Please—some professionalism as restaurateurs would add immeasurably to your quality food. Not sure I will risk going back.
The food was delicious
The server and the Maître D were both literally rude
The place is very noisy when one of my friends said that she could not hear the server told her that this was her problem and that she spoke loud enough
We are not difficult people
It is unfortunate I like to recommend good ITALIAN restaurants but for the reasons stated above I will not
Food was amazing! A genuine Italian restaurant, old school. Great wine selection as well!
Perfect pasta and sauces in cozy setting. Was a wonderful meal and my four year old loved it too!
2nd time here; equally great! Fresh pasta with porcini mushrooms a delight, as was the whole branzino.
We had New Years Eve dinner there. It was terrific. Very Creative dishes not normally on their menu
Best grilled octopus in town! Very friendly service. Great neighborhood place with real Italian ingredients. Anthony Bourdain RIP was not wrong when he recommended this place. Passatelli is more like gnocchi than pasta which not everyone would like (grainier, thicker). Truffels on top $12/gram a great option!!! We will be back!
Amazing!!! I would come back to Miami just to have dinner here! The truffle menu is to die for👍🏼
I love this place. The food is fantastic and the staff is charming. Anthony Bourdain dined here and recommended it highly. I’m fortunate to live nearby.
Best meal ever. So accommodating. Such fabulous staff. Food was amazing.
Really authentic and amazing Italian meal.
Great neighborhood find, authentic Italiano both in food and service.
Best pasta since I lived in Rome. Wonderful owners.
It was a vera good autorias! We loved!
Excellent all around. Authentic Italian Food. Great Staff and service. Recommend the Ravioli du Jour and the Linguini Al Vongolle (seafood). Wine list is thorough with great imported Italian wines. Grazzie Mille!
True cuisine from bologna . Tortellini in brodo are fantastic. the menu and preparation respect the authentic tradition
My husband wanted someplace charming and low key that had good reviews - so off we went -
The starters were good -
Main courses and pasta flavorless. Lobster undercooked.
Chicken breast was def not cooked to order- tasted like it was precooked and then put to reheat- DRY , TOUGH and inedible. Server told me to order something else because that’s how they prepare it there. Server was insulted bc I said the manager should speak to the chef about that. Server said the chef was her husband - I said “ don’t take it personally, my husband can’t cook a chicken breast either!”
Meatballs were dense , tough and flavorless - I am still annoyed I ate them - what a waste of calories!
My husband liked his steak but he will eat pretty much anything that wasn’t moving . What a wasted evening!
My advise - if you feel the need to go there - order one of the starters and a glass of wine and then move the party elsewhere .
Sorry Mr and Mrs Emilia but you def need some cooking lessons- maybe you think making homemade pasta is enough - but it’s not. if you want to know what a chicken breast should taste like - check out Cecconis .
They comped our dinner - I would have been happier paying for a dinner I enjoyed rather than eating a bad free one.
The server told me not to come back- that’s ok -there is no reason to every eat there again .
Think Pasta, THINK Via Emilia .... Always a warm Welcome and AH-MAZING Fresh Pasta ... Grazie
Pasta made right in front of us. Truly amazing. Fabulous place.
Great find! Authentic Italian dishes and ingredients. The service was outstanding. Highly recommend it.
Great local Italian serving truly excellent pasta washed down with a good, inexpensive wine selection
Wonderful food and a great find. Favorite restaurant in Miami Beach.
Complementi per il cibo, fatto veramente come in italia.
Oustanding food and service, very personal, very kind and attentive! We shared the tuna tartar (was fantastic) and asked to split two entrees so we, me and my wife, could taste a three course menu! Very special!
Exceptional
Amazing food!
Went for my friend's birthday. Cute little restaurant. A little pricey and the portions were small. I guess I'm just used to western size portions. They do use a lot of cheese which made the food a little salty. I would be cute for a date but not for groups in my opinion
Highly recommend; Italian at its best. Having been there several times, never a bad experience. Note the Flatbread is enough to share. Actually it's a great thing to order a few dishes & share. Nice wine list, if on the high end. I think the least expensive bottles are $40.00.
Authentic, atmospheric, amazing food.
