Via Emilia 9
Via Emilia 9 in Miami Beach, Florida is the first of its kind in this city. A regional Italian restaurant, Via Emilia 9 only serves menu items that have actually been imported from Italy (flour, eggs, fruits and vegetables being the only exceptions for good reason). The pasta here is made fresh daily from these Italian ingredients. You can even partake in truffle tastings to help better inform your palette.
While there are a number of great entres to choose from at Via Emilia 9, the stewed veal cooked in milk definitely stands out. The veal with cooked ham and cheese is another favorite.
At arrival and after having a reservation we were told that to seat us at the dining room we would have to leave in one hour because they had a large group coming....so, I wondered if they knew about the group , why accept the reservation?
That said, once that was sorted out we proceeded to our anniversary dinner which was spectacular !
Everything! very pleasant and professional service and superb food!!!!
Highly recommend it!
We have been to Via Emilia many times and always enjoy it. This past Saturday, perhaps it was too busy and service was hectic or too much for too few employees. Food delayed more than usual, bread seemed stale and I could not find the langoustines meat on my plate, other than the head placed for decoration. So, while previous experiences have been outstanding, the last one was not. Wine is always very good.
Food was fresh and delicious. Service was right on. I would recommend this neighborhood foodie spot, but I’d hate for it to become too popular! They are opening in MidTown Miami.
I really like the place and the food too, being Italian I loved the Prosciutto & Mozzarella di Bufala, then I had the and the Fazzoletti della Casa stuffed pasta, very good too and to end the lovely dessert Crema di Mascarpone Pavesini e Nutella, a real treat.
I would say only one thing, I came to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was noted in the reservation and nobody wished her Happy Birthday or anything, I even mentioned it to the waiter but nothing, that is not good, normally at other restaurants if you go and celebrate a birthday they wish you happy birthday, bring dessert with a little candle and even offer the dessert complimentary, it is really not expected but, it would be a nice gesture to your customers if you did it.
A friend recommended we go here while on vacation. The food did not disappoint! Delicious! Love the charm of this little place. The prosciutto and melon - amazing! You would think it is the same everywhere but it is not! This is totally worth going to next time you are in Miami. We will definitely be back every time we are here!
We were really excited to try Via Emilia 9 and chose it for a special occasion but the food was disappointing. The lasagna was an incredibly small portion and many of the rest of us chose the recommended bolognese sauce - it was really just ok. Lots of ground beef in an ok sauce. We expected something wonderful. : ( The ambiance and service were excellent.
It is a true Italian trattoria, exceptionally served by its owners and the food is heaven! The pasta, the steak, the raw, everything! Absolutely everything is delicious!
Waitress seemed very rushed. Got food very quickly before the bottle of wine. Food was average.
I loved our meal, our servers, and the atmosphere at Emilia9. I have already recommended this restaurant for people I know visiting South Beach. I know Italian food and this was excellent!
Really a pleasant experience. Friendly service. Everything was delicious from the appetizers to dessert. It was not super expensive. Excellent selection of wine. Nice recommendations on food from the staff.
I LOVE this restaurant. Feels like I’m in Italy. The food was delicious, and the staff was attentive and very nice.
Food was excellent. Smaller portion sizes, but worth the cost. We were the only ones there during a normal dinner time, so the atmosphere was a bit odd. Our waitress served us bottled water without offering tap water and charged us $5 a bottle. They did end up taking the charge off after we complained.
Wonderful, Valentina. Greets and takes your order
Wow, excelente service and food! I want to go back a try every single item in the menu
Nice neighborhood feel. Good food.
THE BEST RESTAURANT IN MIAMI!!!
Great food! Great service!
Excellent authentic Italian food at a reasonable price point.
Excellent food and service
It’s always the best real Italian restaurant in Miami Beach, fabulous home made pastas, burrata
Went for the 1st time and loved this little secret. We are definitely returning and are telling all of our friends. Everything was remarkable outstanding!
We’ve dined here on numerous occasions with both food and service excellent. This particular evening the food was terrific but service was abysmal. We waited almost an hour between the first and second course, failed to have water glasses refilled despite two requests, and a delay getting our bill at the end of the meal.
Italian food at its finest without the hype and price tag! Cute place, great wait staff, good wine and such tasty bolagnese.
Obne of our favorites in Miami!
It's great to see Via Emilia expand their restaurant. This is authentic Italian prepared by authentic Italians, which is rare in Miami. Great homemade pasta in a lovely little restaurant!
Very cute and cozy atmosphere with a mainly antipasto and pasta menu—all of which were delicious. This is a smaller kitchen but with very fresh Italian ingredients and much of the final processing done on site. The service was courteous but a little slow with some minor confusion on the order on a slow night. I might try it again for the food.
Very authentic Italian food great pasta
Entering Via Emilia felt like I was stepping into a family restaurant in Italy. A woman was making homemade pasta by the window, a large curing room displayed meats and cheeses. We were seated promptly in a very attractive, small room. We enjoyed our wine selections and ordered several pasta dishes which were all excellent. My daughter who spent 6 months in Rome last year remarked that "this tastes like Italy". The pace of the service was good, not too fast, not too slow. Our waitress who appeared to possibly be a family member of the owner was very helpful in making suggestions. Overall I would very much recommend this restaurant if you want to get away from the typical fare of Miami.
Quaint. Homemade pasta. Family owned and operated. A local neighborhood gem!!
we really enjoyed the home made authentic italian food and the casual atmosphere .
The food at Via Emilia 9 is commendable. But the dining experience we had was extremely disappointing. My companion and I were directed to a table in the main dining room where a party of at least 30 people was already seated. By the time we were served our appetizer the noise was deafening. I don’t mean to criticize that group—anyone with experience of restaurants knows that large parties are noisy. I would argue that if Via Emilia accepted the reservation for a group that large they should have offered them the entire dining room. We requested to be moved but all the smaller tables in the other room were taken. I asked if we could be seated at the high table in that room and was told “no—it is for larger parties”. So we took a table outside where an incredibly bright light was aimed directly at our table. (Why is that light necessary?) There was no way to block it. What truly angers me, though, is that later in our meal I saw that two different groups of 2 people each had been seated at the table I had requested inside. It was a Monday night at 8 o’clock. I believe Via Emilia had little risk of a party of 6 or 8 suddenly showing up and a much greater obligation to make good on our reservation which had been made days in advance. Please—some professionalism as restaurateurs would add immeasurably to your quality food. Not sure I will risk going back.
The food was delicious
The server and the Maître D were both literally rude
The place is very noisy when one of my friends said that she could not hear the server told her that this was her problem and that she spoke loud enough
We are not difficult people
It is unfortunate I like to recommend good ITALIAN restaurants but for the reasons stated above I will not
Food was amazing! A genuine Italian restaurant, old school. Great wine selection as well!
Perfect pasta and sauces in cozy setting. Was a wonderful meal and my four year old loved it too!
2nd time here; equally great! Fresh pasta with porcini mushrooms a delight, as was the whole branzino.
We had New Years Eve dinner there. It was terrific. Very Creative dishes not normally on their menu
Best grilled octopus in town! Very friendly service. Great neighborhood place with real Italian ingredients. Anthony Bourdain RIP was not wrong when he recommended this place. Passatelli is more like gnocchi than pasta which not everyone would like (grainier, thicker). Truffels on top $12/gram a great option!!! We will be back!
Amazing!!! I would come back to Miami just to have dinner here! The truffle menu is to die for👍🏼
I love this place. The food is fantastic and the staff is charming. Anthony Bourdain dined here and recommended it highly. I’m fortunate to live nearby.
