Food was awesome. Service was awesome. Ambience was awesome. If you are within 50 miles of this place you need to find it. Pork chop special was unbelievable. Open fire cooking was really fun to watch. These folks have it figured out!
Great atmosphere, the staff was fantastic. The food was delicious. All the homemade breads were outstanding. The wild mushroom and homemade ricotta pizza is a must! We'll be back.
Outstanding in every way. We enjoyed the sofa waiting area in the dining room, creative cocktails and meticulously conceived appys and entrees. This was our second visit and we look forward to our third
Walkers is a real treat! Worth the trip from Portland! We were treated like royalty by Danielle and the wonderful staff at Walkers. The food was wonderful and atmosphere is a delight. Beautiful setting. We loved it and plan to spend every anniversary celebrating at Walkers.
We have travelled all over the world and rated this restaurant as one of our top 3. From start to finish the place, presentation, food , hostess, waitress and server went above and beyond what the position called for. My husband and I ordered the cauliflower appetizer and the pork chop for dinner which came with an ear of corn as a side.... how the chef made the flavors of those vegetables come to “ life” are beyond my wildest imagination. The pork was perfectly prepared and melted in our mouth. If that wasn’t a “ fit for foodies” experience, the waitress then suggested her favorite dessert which took us to a whole other universe. No donut and ice cream will ever come close.
Thank you Walkers, Maine and staff!
Creative & outstanding. On every level!
This was our second time eating here and it is always such a wonderful experience. We love the food! It is outstanding, creative, tasty, satisfying. We look forward to trying many of the items on the menu so we order many things and enjoy leftovers after. Strongly recommend. You will not be disappointed.
Great ambience with creative and stylish dining spaces. Bar area with its large stone fireplace is equally attractive. The menu is creative, although we found the entrée selection a tad limited. My husband had the duck, which was well prepared and I had the little necks and mushroom pizza. I’m a huge fan of little necks and order them frequently. I found the sauce to be terribly over seasoned, in a heavily buttered broth. Very disappointing. The mushroom pizza was excellent.
We have been to Walkers a number of times since it opened. Our most recent experience was less than what we expected in that the service was benign at best. The time for cocktails and appetizers was lengthy. And two of the drinks ordered were not quite right. One guest ordered a glass of wine which arrived to the table just before finishing her meal. And that happened with a reminder to the waiter. The table was cleared as per our request. The service was a total miss. However, the food was great. i would say the best yet. i consider this a one off experience as we have had wonderful service and great food before so this would be a venue that we would recommend to a friend.
Food was good. Our server was busy and her attention was above average but not great. The Nonsuch oysters were outstanding but the mignonette was not our favorite. We had the swordfish and the burger and the salmon and they were all excellent. The brioche donuts were a little doughy but still yummy.
Very tasty food and very good service at fair prices. Worth a detour to visit and revisit.
Walkers is very good all around! This was our second dining experience there and we hope to go back again. Last time we ate there we sat in the bar dining area, in a corner, it was a little loud, but not too bad. This time we sat at a different table in the bar area an it was horribly loud. We asked to be moved and the dining room hostess/management staff did an outstanding job of finding us a table in the dining room that was nice and quiet next to the chimney , lucky it was close to 8:30 on a weekday. Our waiter promptly came to our table to take our order and came back 4 to 5 minutes later apologizing as he had forgotten half of it (that was probably his only mistake of the night). We ordered fritters in brown butter which was unimpressive, but also ordered clams which were really excellent, tender and delicious with white wine and a perfect charred bread. The pork chop my wife ordered was cooked perfect, but the corn on the cob that came with it was probably the best prepared corn on cob we have "ever" had. I think it was wood smoked but the rest of my description would take too long! Our waiter recommended an outstanding Pinot Noir wine from Argentina, which we all agreed was better than the Willamette from Oregon, but both were quite excellent. I ordered salmon medium rare (it was clearly rare) and because the rest of the dish was so outstanding and I eat sushi all of the time anyway I chose not to go the complaining route. Besides the entire staff was so accommodating and friendly. This place is really good and we would recommend to any of our friends. Clearly one of our top five in the area!
Consistently a terrific experience. Gracious and knowledgeable staff, thoughtful menu beautifully executed.
We went to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and had a fabulous experience. Serge was our waiter and he was very attentive and knowledgeable. I had the special pork with a German potato salad and grilled corn on the cob rolled in aioli and crushed potato chips that could have been the best meal I’ve had in a long time surprising myself as I never ordered pork at a restaurant. We will definitely be going back
Our waiter answered all our questions about the menu and was very knowledgeable about the ingredients in every dish. The food never disappoints!
The food was delicious and the restaurant was quaint and comfortable.
We had an outstanding meal at Walker’s Maine last night. Every bite of food was more delicious than the last. The freshness, flavors and brilliant combinations of tastes and textures were truly enjoyable. This is culinary originality at its best - but not originality for its own sake - everything tasted delicious and was expertly prepared. Cant stop thinking about the peekytoe crab fritters and when we are going back.
The drinks were average at best, my wife had a Paloma and I had a bourbon drink. Between the both of them they may have had one shot of alcohol in total. Food was not bad but certainly not worth what we paid. For two people it was a $175 bill without tip. We tipped $35 because service was good.
We likely will not go back because of the cost to value dynamic
Best in Ogunquit it will be my go to restaurant would highly recommend the best salmon dish I ever had
Our first time at Walkers Maine for dinner. Everything about this restaurant was very good. Farm fresh, local ingredients and great service!!
Loved being pampered.
This restaurant was amazing. Amazing atmosphere and food and hospitality. The owner of the restaurant is there greeting guests and talking to them and it makes for a warm welcoming atmosphere that makes the outstanding food taste even better, if that’s possible.
As a retired chef-owner for 8 years in a major market, I feel I know a great meal from a mediocre one. Walkers was one of the best meals I have ever had. Flavor, flavor, flavor! High food integrity and creativity that made such culinary sense! I am very fond of duck----chef made that bird do more than quack! Outstanding!
So glad we ended our Maine Vacation with that meal!
Walker’s is outstanding. Inventive cuisine with local ingredients prepared with a deft hand and excellent service. We especially love the dishes cooked with wood on oven or grill.
Four of us dined at Walkers pre-theatre. To start, the cocktails, wine and beer were all great. We shared the cauliflower appetizer which was awesome. I had the lobster, excellent; my friend had the steak; excellent and two people had the pork chops. One was cooked perfectly and was delicious and the other was undercooked and not so delicious. The desserts were delicious (sundae and butterscotch pie). The service was very attentive and everyone working there was friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely go back next time we’re in the area.
Great food and drinks! Went there twice in one week on my vacation!
One of the best meals we've had in a long, long time and we travel all over the country for business and eat at some very good restaurants. Every dish was fresh, creative and full of amazing flavors. The corn on the cob was the sweetest corn I've ever tasted. And, the dessert doughnuts were amazing!
We have eaten at Walkers several times this summer and enjoyed every meal. The chicken dish is wonderful as is the bread, cauliflower, beets, lobster, and pork chop. The service is always top notch.
We were a group of four. All enjoyed entrees: swordfish, salmon, steak, and the pork chop. The pork chop had been highly recommended by a frequent diner and met all his rave reviews! The beet snacks were great. Dessert was shared: butterscotch with chocolate pie - very good. Peach Cobbler out of this world!! Wait staff was informed and attentive.
The food here is always very delicious and well prepared. We had three salads and felt they were all overdressed and difficult to eat it all. I brought mine home to add other things to it. I also had the cauliflower as my entree and it was way to charred, brought that home too. That being said, I'm going back this week!
Looks can be deceiving! The place is very nice inside, but the service is beyond horrible. Told them it was a milestone birthday, gave us a horrible table for two next to a table for 10. The waiter was the worst we have ever had, slow, did not share any specials, or for that matter when asked about one item he could have cared less. We went last summer and after this experience will never go back!
Food is ok, very limited menu and while might be good, the service blows it. Seated at 7:30 and we left at 9:40 and we only had two courses.
Do not waste your time, feel like calling to ask for a refund!
Excellent!! Food, service and atmosphere were great. We will definitely be going back again when we are in the area!
Friends introduced us to Walkers last summer and we were eager to return this year. It was wonderful to find that it is even better than our memory of last year. Interesting, delicious food and impeccable, friendly service in a comfortable, warm, beautiful, romantic setting. Well done, all around! Can't wait to go back!
Everything was enjoyable. The rock shrimp ceviche with strawberries and avocado was delicious. Will return for the biscuits alone they were so good. Dessert was butterscotch pie with cherries and dark chocolate...scrumptious
A meal worthy of a Michelin star. This is the best restaurant I have ever eaten at in Maine, so don’t judge it by the Rt 1 location.
The French sauces with the farm to table ingredients made this a memorable meal.
The appetizers and “snacks” are a must try, especially the beets, the cauliflower appetizer and the speck with goat cheese!
We ordered many of the snacks and appetizers and only one entree, the perfect grass fed steak over creamy potatoes with a mushroom bordelaise sauce.
Loved the speckled romaine salad with anchovies!
If you are seeking A French style meal with a Maine casual service approach, you will love this place.
Certain aspects of their service could be improved upon but otherwise the food puts this place as an overall 4.8 ranking.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. I had a lobster dish that was out of this world. Everyone in my group loved it and can't wait to return! The service is impeccable. We were not rushed and was able to really enjoy each course. The restaurant itself is rustic and beautiful... different chairs at each table, funky dinnerware. Warm and inviting vibe. For dessert, you have to get the homemade warm donuts. Amazing! I would highly recommend Walkers!
We were very pleased with the food and the service is impeccable, obviously trained very well. We find this place an excellent choice for a special dinner and it’s close to home.
It was an outstanding dinner for the last night of our vacation! Only wish we lived locally and were able to stop by more frequently! The food was creative, fresh and outstanding--service was quick, friendly and professional--setting was charming and fun. Can't wait to find another time to come in the future.
We were greeted very warmly by the charismatic and friendly host/manager at the front desk. She invited us to have drinks by the fire place while we waited for our table. We were very happy to see that you have "zero proof" drinks on the menu as I'm a non-drinker and this always makes me feel welcome and included when I'm out to dinner. Thank you ! The food here is also AMAZING. We had apps, salads, and entrees and everything we ate was perfect. This would have been a five-star experience, but our waiter was very abrupt and snippy with us from the get-go. He was especially rude to my 64-year-old mom. There's nothing he said that was specifically rude -- he just had an attitude that didn't match the warm and welcoming environment. We tried not to let it bother us, but it's always a bummer when your server brings down the mood whenever he visits the table! Regardless, we'll be back next summer, hopefully with a friendlier server.
Service was immaculate. Best bite was the orzo appetizer followed by the fritters with brown butter. Will gladly return.
