Water Grill - Dallas
Casual, but moderately upscale. Fair food and wine prices. Some meat options in addition to a nice variety of fish choices. Overall, a nice dinner option. Valet parking available. Will return.
What more can I say? This place never disappoints. Our food and service were outstanding! Can’t wait to come back again.
Fantastic meal, from the sauteed octopus with a spicy chili sauce to the shrimp and sweet grits, to the grilled red fish!! Go tonight!
Came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Good seafood but I got irritated when my conversation and dining experience kept getting interrupted by a persistent waitress set on cleaning up a few spilled crumbs and who tells us we can use the plates on our table to eat our appetizer. 😒 My husband thought she asked for his plate, but that’s what she was telling him he could do. My husband is a very nice and patient guy, but she got a side eye from me. It was our first time dining there, so I’m not going to make assumptions because my husband and I are used to fine dining. But the next time we dine here, and there will be a next time because they have a great seafood menu (and we are newly pescatarian), we would like to experience a different waitress or waiter. We still enjoyed ourselves in-spite of.
Beautiful interior. Great menu of seafood and shellfish. I will definitely return, but wish the selection of red wine by the glass was better. Seems like they only have California reds. I prefer European reds due to lower sulfite, sugar and alcohol content.
Amazing oysters and dressing, great cocktails, and the scallops were phenomenal. Excellent service.
Amazing service and food!
New Years Eve dinner
The restaurant is gorgeous. Host staff was really great and welcoming. Our server was very sweet and great at the start, but she got weeded quickly and disappeared for long periods of time. We skipped dessert and another round of cocktails because we couldn’t find her for so long. Food was pretty mediocre, there was nothing we ate that we’d really want to come back for. The house bread was good.
I Came here on New Years eve with husband and friends for dinner. Everything was great. We had a delicious seafood tower and drinks.
Great seafood, the raw scallops are a must order. The California spiny lobster was also fantastic.
This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. We went for a New Year’s Eve dinner date and we couldn’t have picked a better spot. The front of the restaurant was decorated for a quick NYE photo opp, the staff was very helpful, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable of the menu. I had the NYE special, surf and turf. It was delicious! It included a butterflied 8 oz filet, a 5 oz lobster tail, mashed potatoes, and sautéed kale. I couldn’t ave asked for a more perfect dish! My wife had the Chilean sea bass and a side of mashed potatoes. Everything on the regular menu is a la carte so you’ll definitely want to get some sides (served family style). We didn’t try any cocktails because we opted for a bottle champagane, but the entire cocktail list made our mouths water! Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert which was a shame because the cake sounded amazing! Overall, I would rate Water Grill 5 stars because every part of our experience was really great!
Great place with friendly staff.
It was ok. Service was good for the most part. Menu is as expected for a seafood restaurant. Ordered shrimp & grits and was asked if I wanted the heads removed. Sure since it makes it a little easier to eat. Bad choice. My dish was tepid, skinny shrimp looked & tasted like they had been in the fridge waiting to be put in something else. I could tell they weren't just peeled. Seemed like the kind of place I didn't want to send it back. Restaurant was a little warm then suddenly very cold. They had opened a window? It was cold & a little windy outside so cooled off quickly. Perhaps my shrimp & grits were near the window. Several times had to look for our waitress. A passing server would walk by & ask what we needed. It wasn't bad but plenty of other seafood restaurants I will go to over this one.
One final note & a Pet Peeve - check if toilet paper is needed in the restrooms on a regular basis. At this restaurants, two holders in each stall. If both out, means no one has checked in a while :)
It had a nice cozy feel. The food lacked seasoning and the drink I ordered was mediocre. The staff was nice and attentive however, we weren’t offered complimentary champagne even though they knew it was our anniversary. The didn’t even design the plate with the happy anniversary logo like other restaurants Ive been to in the past have done. Nice loc, attentive staff but I wasn’t impressed.
Valet was closing early . Wanted to get paid before we left.
Waiter had wrong glass for Wine. Gave Chardonnay glass for red wine.
Bread was hard. We sent back .
Waiter took bread away before we were done eating it.
Squash was burned. Cauliflower was burned.
Awful dinner on Christmas Eve!!
We won’t come back!
Christmas Eve, very busy so service a little slower than normal. No problem for us but otherwise al 5’s again.
Portions very small. Clam chowder had only 3 clams in a $10 bowl. Scallop entry only 3 small scallops and a few piece of cauliflower. Crab cake was good. Whole lobster was good enough. Service was excellent but the kitchen may not be up the level of the service yet.
Recommended to anyone. William our sever was incredible
Make sure you read the products' descriptions before ordering. I missed that the margarita I ordered had jalapeno and ancho chile. It was good but SPICY. The sea bass was very good, the gnocchi only okay. Personal preference, I wish the clam chowder had been hotter--temperature-wise, not spicy. Hubby LOVED the oysters. Service was great. The sommelier even offered to put our wine on ice while we were having our pre-dinner cocktails.
Laurie was amazing! We will definitely be back.
This was our second time here. I like the bar area...the oysters were amazing, the grilled octopus was great too.. My fish was good. That said, I dont like a lot of sauce on good fish ( Sea Bass)....mine was swimming in butter and needed salt...It was very well prepared, however.
The beet salad had way to much dressing on it. The arugula was wilted with the weight of the dressing...ask them to go light on it. Big enough for 2 people...
Service was great. Will go back.
The food and the ambiance are excellent! The Black Cod is a great dish!
Celebrated my wife’s promotion. Had a wonderful time- excellent food and service
Very good seafood. Friendly helpful waiter. who recommended the Wild Alaskan Black Cod Kabayaki, very good dish with a tasty fish broth and soba noodles. If I go back I would order this again, very good dish. Also the crispy polenta with fontina was really good. Don't miss this and the serving is big enough for 2 or 3. Good location for the museums and the AA center. I would definitely eat here again.
Fantastic place, great food and the service was energetic
Great, beautiful space with delicious food.
We’ve been 3 times now. This last visit had the best food of the 3. 2 main dishes; scallops and shrimp/grits. The scallops with cauliflower were delicious. My only issue with the food was there were only 3 scallops. For the cost, it would have been nice to have at least 1-2 more. The shrimp and grits finally was prepared well. Heads removed from all, none with shells. Had issues with both of these things before. Service always seems a bit off here. Server was prompt but asked me if I would like anything to drink. I ordered a cocktail and they left. They didn’t ask my husband if he wanted anything to drink. I had to say something after the sever came by on the third pass. Just little things, nothing horrible. We’ll stick to some of our other favorite places in Dallas.
Overly high priced for what you get. Won't go back.
The food was excellent. Our server was awful. She had a bad attitude and every time we asked for something she would get annoyed by it but the manager candle came and she took care of us .
Wonderful and we will be back!
William was the best and I will be going back soon
Our server was outstanding.
AMAZING! We were thoroughly impressed with our dinner. The food was amazing. The service was great and ambiance was nice as well. You should try this place out.
Really good seafood. King Crab was delicious. Several craft beers on draft, limited domestic beer selection. Pricey, but worth it every now and then. I will 100% be back.
Everything was perfected with your style, the only issue would be the desert was kinda dry and not rich with flavor. I’m not a big sweet eater but would have enjoyed since it was my girls bday that the surprise treat would have had more flavor. Overall the fish plates and crab cake was tasty!
It’s a beautiful restaurant and the service was very good. I liked the menu and the fresh seafood choice and quality. I thought, however that the food was over seasoned and over salted. I also thought that the portions were served too large. I can eat a large meal but I though most of these portions were too large by half.
Grown daughter in town, light meal after thanksgiving. A tower was ordered for the 3 of us was a perfect meal. Service staff was helpful, professional and genuine. Great restaurant, great food and service.
Just fabulous. I’ve been to the locations in LA and this was my first time at the one in Dallas and it did not disappoint. Laurie was the best server. You can tell she really enjoys helping people and has such a kind and pleasant soul. Thanks Water Grill Dallas
Love this place!
