It's just not the same. The last couple times we went as Waterdog, we did not care for the food. When I saw they changed the name and menu, I was hopeful. But again nothing tastes great. All bland, they use a microwave, it's just blah. I definitely felt I wasted my money the last two times. It's unfortunate because the restaurant itself it's beautiful.

after reading the reviews, i almost cancelled my reservation. i am happy i didn't. we ate outside - very relaxing and comfortable. we needed assistance to get to the outside dining. the wait staff was pleasant and very accomodating. waterdog tavern has a service elevator that can be used for patrons. we chose to order two appetizers for our dinner. all the dishes came as described in the menu and timely. unfortunately, the menu on the website did not match the menu we received at the restaurant. my recommendation is that the website should be updated.

Service was off! Hostess was reluctantly accommodating; tried to seat the 4 of us at small bistro table (we had a reservation) New waiter was absent most of the meal. No flatware on the table. Had to cancel a round of drinks because we finished eating. Unfortunate birthday dinner. Good for beers only.

Obviously the new owners have hired a crew that is likely completely inexperienced. Our servers were clueless. They dropped and broke dishes, apologized for our meal not coming out, (it had already come out) didn’t know where tables were when orders came out, didn’t know how to split the bill. Hey new owners, hire some experienced staff! You should know better, you own other restaurants! On the outside chance that they are experienced, then they were lost!

The restaurant is under new ownership for the past three weeks. Menu is rebooted and prices went up. Food was bland and overpriced. Sad because we really liked the old water dog tavern. Ow it’s called the Tavern at Waterdog.

This place used to be great but this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We waited about 10 minutes for the hostess to either start her shift or return from a break while other employees just walked past us. Beer selection used to be really interesting but now it seems pretty standard. We were served flat beers that I even questioned if they were the correct beer because they tasted so bad. He just shrugged his shoulders and then walked over to the taps, I guess to attempt another pour? While he was away we tried the fries which were obviously fried much earlier that day. They were cold and tasted stale. I found our server and told him we were leaving because the beers and food was not edible. I will never go back to this restaurant.

The service was poor. The food was so so and extremely expensive. I had a salad and a glass of wine $47. Which included tip. We ordered garlic bread, it never came. Waited 45min to an hour for our entree. I will not return to this restaurant again.

Give them time (90 days) after which I’m very sad to say that our local place has died off, will NOT survive here. I have better hopes but not looking great ☹️

Summer 2022, they claim to be in "soft (re)opening." The location is great, with a nice courtyard, and people bring dogs. Relaxed, friendly, and good for families. We had a reservation for 4 adults for dinner, and were given a small "Paris style" Cafe table. After immediate water service, nobody checked on us for orders for over 30 minutes. Once someone showed up, and took orders, then most appetizers and entrees and cocktails and drinks were served at the same time, which made us have to eat cold, and didn't fit on the table. (One appetizer and one entree arrived much later.) The burger ordered medium well was rare inside -- they did take this off the check. Any one of these things would've been okay, but clumped together, it doesn't come out swinging. I'll give them a few months to see where they're going before I give them a second shot.

Waterdog is now under new management and sadly, it shows. It took more than 45 minutes for our pretzel appetizer to come, it was drenched in queso and tasteless. Our food was mediocre and took another 40+ minutes to arrive. We used to love this place and unfortunately will go elsewhere. Despite lots of wait staff, the service was not good.

Missing items from our order and had to visit the kitchen a few times to request/check on order. Would be a wonderful addition to the service to hire just one or two people to walk around and ask table if they are needing anything or if everything is ok. As soon as we sat down outside, which was really nice, the young bus person spilled a huge cup of ice water on my 3 year old grandson. He was completely soaked. The young man apologized and vanished immediately never to be seen again. We ordered our drink, appetizers , and food via an app. Everything came out at the same time. There are no wait persons just food runners and bus people. The food was ok, mostly sysco corporate pre made food. The portions where large. The outdoor area was nice. I paid our check via the app and left. Had pretty much no contact with staff other than the free ice water bath. I would not return.

Worst dining experience ever!! After waiting 45 minutes for a margarita, we left without even drinking it. Absolute utter total confusion. It was 25 minutes before a server even came to the table. Additionally, a couple two tables away had their dog sitting on their lap inside the restaurant with its head on the table. I pointed out to management that this was against the California Department of Health rules. Management apologized and told me they wouldn’t let it happen next time. There was a huge patio area outside where there were many tables with dogs but this couple evidently did not want to sit outside. And no, it wacky a service dog. Just their pet/child. After 25 minute wait for a server to come to the table, and other 20 minute wait for the drinks, the total confusion going on in the place and the dog with its head on the table, I couldn’t stand any more. We asked for the check. Management told us we didn’t need to pay. As we left, with drinks on the table, a young girl accosted my friend about leaving without paying the bill. Ugly night and definitely won’t be going back there. Evidently the restaurant has been sold and new management in place. Good luck to all

We love Waterdog. It's our go-to casual hangout with friends, especially since Covid. Love their outdoor biergarten. Best brussels sprouts on the Peninsula. Kids meals are an excellent value and consistently eaten by my picky eaters. Fabulous brunch on the weekends, too!
