White Dog Cafe - Wayne
Elegant, good food, great service and professional staff from servers to managers.
It would have been a 5 star meal if we didn't have to wait half an hour even with a reservation.
Expensive but good. Great service by our waiter. Neat interior.
Great food and very nice people! Definitrly recommend for a nice dinner.
It was pretty busy Friday night so the service was pretty slow, the waitress was not a particularly attentive nor a good listener. The overall bill was pretty high for just the two of us.
We go back there though because the meats are local and the food is consistently good. My husband had the brie appetizer, which he said was excellent. The Thai Meat main meal was just... good. The coconut cream pie was awesome.
I had the Bartlett pear salad, which was delicious, and the Green Circle Chicken, which was *succulent*. The dates-almond dessert was just ok - the filling was decent and the "ice cream" on top was *very* interesting but the crust was really average so I ended up not eating that.
I'd recommend this place if you want light fare, or a main meal with an appy OR dessert. But when you do all 3, it gets a little spicy.
Always good. And the Happy Hour is awesome!
Salad included on the plate was an uninteresting pile of greens right out of a supermarket tub. Dressing was good though.
Such a great Valentines Day dinner @ the White Dog. Every time we come here I mean to grab at least A picture of my meal... and it’s always so good I forget until it’s gone. 😂
The shrimp and grits are my new favorite thing on the menu. They are so perfect, the shrimp are actual giants, and the bacon on top was just a perfect complement to a great meal.
Finally tried the date tart last night (it’s GF! Bc the White Dog rocks!) and it was wonderful with the coconut ice cream.
I have zero clue what my bf has for dinner bc I was way too busy enjoying my own meal. When I looked up, he was done eating though, so I’m sure his was as good as mine (you really can’t go wrong on their menu. Ever).
We come here because it’s easy to eat really delicious, clean meals without having to default to salad. We flirt back and forth between paleo-ish, relatively keto, and plant based (not all at the same time tg) and we always find something on the menu that’s just right.
P.S. - One thing that always amazes me about this place - no matter how busy they are, their team never seems stressed out or “rushed.” They always seem to have enough support that the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. Even when it’s bustling. Don’t know how they do it, but it’s one of the things that makes the White Dog so enjoyable (besides the food!).
Fantastic, knowledgeable server. Beautiful ambiance. Appreciate Vegan menu!
The food was all fresh and delicious and very well paired
Really was a great night.
Excellent and professional service
Food was extremely good and a creative variety.
Service was good with the exception of the constant interruptions. The Queen Anne style chairs were filthy with crumbs all over them and worn out cushions. Definitely will not be back.
Hi, first of all, we love the White Dog! We go there all the time and I was happy to go for Valentines Day and was glad to get an early time as we have kids at home and weren’t making a late night of it. I know it is the busiest night of the year to go out to dinner but they really crammed us in. We sat in the back garden room and there were 8 two tops against the wall and even with talking in very low voices we were honestly too close to the diners on either side of us. We all had to move plates around to let someone slide in and it was not enjoyable. Our server was great but the normal ambiance we expect from the white Dog was greatly lacking on this night. I think they could have sacrificed one two top and given everyone a bit more elbow room, it was really too crowded. We didn’t even want to stay for dessert because we felt claustrophobic. The food was good the service was good but I think it is something they should really consider for future busy nights.
One of the best meals I have had in a very long time, and they went well out of there way to help us celebrate our anniversary please choose the white dog cafe for anytime you want a superb meal and unmatched service!
Nice environment for tasty dinner. Alex provided attentive service for the two of us in one of their 4 themed rooms.
Came here for Valentine’s Day, my boyfriend and I both enjoyed the atmosphere! The service was a little slow but I believe it’s due to such a busy holiday. Overall the food was really tasty and unique, definitely on the pricier side and the steak on the steak and Thai noodle salad was a little on the lighter side, we both expected a little more.
Overall it was a good experience, and we’ll be back to try the dinner menu at some point!
We ❤️ having our annual Valentine’s Day lovefest at White Dog! Very accommodating!!!
Service was very good. Had reservations for lunch and seated immediately. Food very good. A little noisy I think but tolerable.
THE best restaurant. I have food allergies, and they accommodate me EVERY visit!!! The manager is great, his name is Ed. He is SO attentive, and kind, and friendly, and accommodating from start to finish. The food is excellent. Basically “ farm to table”....very fresh veggies, salads, etc......great waiters, waitresses, and an overall wonderful place to dine....Whether it’s Sunday brunch, lunch or dinner......l.! Love it here and HIGHLY recommend!!!!!!!!!!
This place just doesn’t know how to create a less-than-perfect plate.
The best filet mignon I have had in a long, long time. Perfect, tender cut, perfectly executed. AWESOME Brussels sprouts!
And Peter will take care of you at the bar with expertly curated cocktails.
What a fun restaurant, and especially great for dog lovers. The drink menu and food were amazing!
Wonderful food, service, and professionalism. All staff members were friendly and visited us at our table.
My party of 5 had a great experience at White Dog for dinner. The only reason why I gave 3's for food and service is because there was confusion with the need for vegan food. From the request for a menu to arrival of food, there were issues. The waitress was unaware if there were options and then did not make it clear to the kitchen that they needed to make the items without animal products. This area aside, the experience was overall great, and I would recommend this restaurant. If you do have a dietary restriction you might have some difficulties, but it's something that I'm sure you're use to.
I was graciouslying and tastefully wished a Happy Birthday from the moment I stepped in the door. This was followed by a card, a mini appetizer, and a dessert plate with a greeting written in chocolate with a candle attached to the plate. The service was excellent and the calm atmosphere was private. It was lovely and delicious!
Fun atmosphere. Love all the dog artwork on the walls throughout the restaurant, and in the bathroom. Very friendly and attentive service, not intrusive. Nice ambience. Noise level on the higher end, but we could hear each other well. I was surprised it was not distracting and too loud given the number of people at the restaurant and proximity of tables, it was fine for us.
We had a lovely brunch, and had such a charming table for my friend, daughter and I! I love White Dog Cafe in Wayne, it’s my favorite place to go when I want to have a special event or meal, it’s my happy place😍
Service was exceptional and we never had to ask for anything.
Food was outstanding!
Very good food and service. Real tea light candles made for a nice ambiance, but the pluses created by the lights were somewhat undone by the noise levels (guest generated - not the restaurant’s fault) resulting in a date that required explanations or yelling. Though not quite energetic noise levels, I prefer to be able to hear my wife without her having to raise her voice.
Nonetheless, I will probably go back again. I’ll just try an earlier time and hopefully get a little less noise next time.
I usually resent higher prices at restaurants but the white dog has such a high quality kitchen I think it’s worth it. The service is always wonderful and it’s a very gracious place to dine. I enjoy every bite
We had an amazing dinner at the White Dog Cafe. The service was amazing, the food was delicious, and the environment was perfect. Wow, what a gem of a dining experience. I thought pricing was a bit high but wow was the experience amazing.
Attentive personal service and excellent food
A great place for brunch. Loved the Kenetts square mushroom soup.
Food was good. Place was too noisy so couldn’t hear my daughter.
Disappointing because all they did for her birthday (which I requested in the reservation) was to write her a note saying “happy birthday”.
I had lunch at the haverford White Dog today and they brought the birthday person at the next table a scoop of ice cream with chocolate sauce spelling out “happy birthday” on the plate. A lovely gesture.
So we won’t go back to the Wayne one!
Always an amazing experience with top notch service.
This is a fun place with a great atmosphere. There is nothing like seeing the theme of dogs throughout the place which makes this special. The service was outstanding. I enjoyed the food and ordered two appetizers. My only complaint was the noise level on a Friday night, but I would come back here again. The happy hour value is perfect , but you need to get there early.
Lunch was delicious, my salmon was cooked perfectly. I loved the cookie dessert that came in the doggie cookie jar what a unique idea!!
We had a reservation at 6:30 but did not get seated until almost 7:00. We were celebrating our daughter’s 18th birthday. After she had her mushroom bisque, which was delicious, she became ill and needed to take home her entree. I wouldn’t attribute her illness to the bisque, as I had the same appetizer. Possibly, that she waited too long to eat. White Dog was her chosen place for dinner, so it was disappointing.
I have reviewed White Dog Cafe multiple times, and each with a different story to tell; I am waiting to give them the five stars I feel the decor and food deserve, but not today. This time, the waiter began by serving fewer rolls than the number of individuals at the table, and was completely put out that we asked for one more; serving another tray with a single roll on it, he announced in a snippy fashion that if we insist, we can have all the rolls we want. Those of us dining at the table could not imagine the reason for such hostility, but speculated that it might be because we had to repeat ourselves while ordering due to background excessive noise, which also seemed to vex him. Nevertheless, the food was good and the atmosphere delightful, and at least the experience was colorful.
Everybody is happy at White Dog Cafe. Food is just a little bit different (that’s good) from other comparable restaurants. Ambience is inviting, comfortable. Staff genuinely happy to help, modify the menu and give you space. Low noise level and space between tables.
The food was absolutely magnificent and especially some amazing choices for a vegetarian! The mushroom soup is now EXTRA GOOD! The addition of Porcini mushrooms and a very smooth creaminess! What a delight! The pumpkin seed hummus was incredibly delicious! Even more amazing, the vegetarian stuffed shells!
