Ideally situated in between the Royal Lyceum, the Usher hall and the Travers theatre, it aims to offer elegant but simple food, using fine Italian and Scottish produce, reflecting both seasonality and the chefs’ creativity, maintaining a Mediterranean theme throughout.
The food is complimented by an unpretentious selection of good wines, moderately priced; highlighting the best style each Italian region has to offer.
Wonderful food and service. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly
Had the Express Lunch as a pre-theatre meal on Saturday. One course and a soft drink for £9.95 is excellent value. Seated downstairs which is okay but prefer upstairs.
No complaints: food, service & ambience good. I would reccomend restaurant to friends and family.
Our first time at Zucca and we were very impressed with the service and the food. It got very busy but we still didn't have long to wait for our food. If you like dark chocolate, the chocolate and orange bombe is to be highly recommended. We will certainly be back.
Was not busy at 8pm on a Saturday evening, but the menu was nice, if a little pricey. Moretti lager on draft, and good service. Exactly what we wanted after visiting the cinema.
Great food and service, will definitely be back. Really handy for the Lyceum and Usher Hall.
Generally a reliable place to eat. Great service. Very handy before visting theater next door
Excellent food and friendly service.
Pre Tattoo meal
We are regular diners at Zucca. The staff there are so professional, so pleasant. Looking forward to our next visit!
Good for pretheatre in that part of Edinburgh
Zucca, in one word AMAZING. The quality of food, menu variety and friendliness of staff is excellent. A very busy concert internal on Sunday and yet everyone was serve promptly. Love going there.
I am glad to have discovered Zucca in the last couple of years. It is an excellent restaurant. There are not too many things on the menu. I particularly like the Venetian sole+spinach dish. I have had it several times; the fish is always beautifully fresh and the flavours are exquisite. The staff know their customers and there is always a sense of personal welcome. The ambience is quiet and there is always the right balance of warmth and reserve. The interior design is good, across two levels. Importantly, there is no background music. (Or, at least, it is so very low that I don't recall it, and it is something that I would notice as it often spoils a restaurant for me.) That's another indicator that it is a rather fine restaurant. I normally live at the other end of the country, but Zucca is now always on my list when I visit Edinburgh. Well done!
Dependable as usual. Perfect for pre-concert & pre-theatre on either side!
As always a very pleasant dining experience with excellent food wine and service not to mention great value for money
Fabulous staff that are most accommodating even at their busiest times. Service, food and ambiance perfect - we and friends enjoyed our meal and wished we did to have to rush away., Thank you to all that supported us
2nd time at Zucca and we'll definitely be going back. The staff are brilliant, as is the food. Thanks so much for looking after us😁
Excellent service given the pressures of a full house for a pre concert meal.
Great food and wine.
Lovely food fantastic, great ambience. The lamb stew was wonderful and fresh veg great. Very disapointed with my starter! I chose the pear and blue cheese salad. To say the cheese was sparse would be an understatement. You had to search for the pear which was concealed under a bed of rocket salad, three pieces of cheese smaller then a small sugar cube were hidden within. In my opinion a total waste of money. My wife's starter, the salmon, wonderful and lots of it.
Lovely meal, quickly served. The antipasti was generous for two people and the pappardelle bolognese was delicious. The chocolate and orange bombe was amazing! Service so personal and prompt. Great value, so handy for the surrounding theatres. Will definitely return!
Lovely restaraunt, excellent service and great food. Adapted food to specific requirements of one of our party and wheelchair user able to access easily. Very happy with our visit. Here for the fringe and no doubt we will be back next year
I had booked an early table to eat before the Tattoo; the service was good and very friendly. The food was delicious. They knew we had to have an early meal, the service was good but not too rushed.
Lovely food and friendly service - great value and perfectly efficient for a pre-theatre meal. Restaurant was busy but our meals arrived promptly and were delicious.
Reliable as usual. Perfectly grilled scallops. Excellent Sardinian fish stew.
Surprising to be so quiet during Festival time.
Really nice meal and the staff were very accommodating to us, especially given it was just us. My son wasn’t too keen on the gnocchi he ordered but everything else was lovely. We’ll definitely return.
Great food, wine and service. Well set up for pre theatre meals. Sensible prices on desserts and cheese
Fine food with fine service but the wine list is a bit sparse.
Very well organised and slick service. Ideal for a pre-theatre meal.
We had a short turn around given theatre and they were super speedy and great food!
A very convenient location for the event we were attending at the Usher Hall. The staff were excellent and the food was good. However, the 'dishes' for serving food were not so good. The bread and the starters were served on what appeared to be flat slate plates that were too big for the table. We even had the staff apologising for them as they tried to fit them on the table. And my main course was served as a bowl each containing the stew of the day, potatoes and broccoli. I would have liked them all on one plate.
Good food and wine with excellent service and location.
What is not to like?!
It's the perfect place for pre-theatre being so handy for the Lyceum, Usher Hall & Traverse.
It can be a bit noisy probably due to the layout of the restaurant but we still like the ambience.
Good food and good service. Would go again.
Friendly service, good food. One of our best meals while in Edinburgh.
Staff friendly and attentive. Mushroom risotto best I have tasted in ages.
Nice relaxed and airy place for a pre-theatre dinner. Staff were friendly and helpful. A very pleasant experience and I would come again
The staff were lovely and very helpful. Food was lovely and very fresh. Would definitely go back. Have started to spread the word already.
Advised restaurant it was a Birthday celebration and they presented dessert on a slate emblazoned with Happy Birthday- nice touch and well appreciated- bonus to an excellent meal - thank you
This was a welcome return, after an extended hiatus, to an old and favourite haunt, happily nothing had changed, well you can't improve on perfection, the sole fillets with a side of garlic bread, sublime, and the chocolate orange bombe, a nice light dessert to finish.
