   Unfortunately our experience last night did not live up to our expectations following a truly outstanding visit back in June 2021. Whilst the restaurant is lovely, staff attentive and knowledgable, the food was just not as good or as interesting and that’s simply not good enough when spending £750+ for dinner for two people. Overall we came away feeling disappointed. Following our first visit we came away telling everyone we met what an absolute game changing restaurant it was, and despite it being expensive, it was absolutely worth it. Unfortunately last night didn’t live up to our past experience and just felt like poor value. To give a few comparisons between our visits: The prices have gone up (which is understandable given current inflationary pressures), but now consists of two less courses, despite still being pitched as a ten course tasting menu. When we previously visited, the ten course menu had ten courses plus snacks and petit fours as additional elements, whereas this time those elements were each counted as a course. Given it’s a tasting menu, the additional two courses last time were welcome as they gave us the opportunity to try two additional creations and sample a wider variety of delicious food. Another disappointing comparison on this visit was that we were charged for coffee with our petit fours, when again, last time it was included. The waitress asked if I take sugar, which I do, but none came. After calling over another waitress sugar appeared but by then my coffee was luke warm. Perhaps not a big issue in a standard restaurant but these kind of lapses to detail are really disappointing at £750+ for two. Overall a noticeable fall in the experience between visits which is such a shame given how highly we regarded our previously visit.

    I had heard the food was excellent and while it was a little difficult to get a table, the experience was amazing. Couldn't fault the place, staff unbelievable in tune with each other and guests We also had the bonus of snow falling outside

    Amazing experience - but expensive! Automatically including 13% service is a bit rude imo - but if ever service deserved recognition, it's the service at Restaurant Story. A brilliant front of house team support an amazing culinary experience of the highest order. No better restaurant in London - surpassing my previous favourite of Gordon Ramsay's Hospital Road

    Wonderful little restaurant of around eight tables, with the kitchen in the corner. Hugely impressive menu, attentive but friendly and fun staff, nice to watch London life go by outside the large floor to ceiling windows. Of course it is expensive but you can see where it goes. My only gripes are 1. like other Michelin star restaurants, trying to link-sell seasonal truffle with the menu and putting you on the spot to make a decision, which is always annoying and 2. the drinks pairing for £100 in my view wasn't great value, including a cider, a fairly horrid English brut, and a cocktail I had already just had with my opener on the tasting menu. Despite these minor gripes, we enjoyed ourselves enormously and would definitely recommend it. We went to enjoy a Saturday afternoon after a stressful few weeks at work but could see that most other tables were celebrating a special occasion - it would be ideal for a birthday or special anniversary, especially as it is very intimate.

    Along with Core this is my favourite restaurant in London. You couldn't say it was good value, but it's worth every penny. Exquisite food, excellent service and a wonderful experience

    If you are a foodie that enjoys beautifully crafted cuisine a then you will love Story. We expected a very high standard and got it. We had the six course degustation menu with paired wines and it made for a wonderful 3.5 hour gourmet experience. The waiting staff were excellent. As for value, well the food is good enough to justify the charge. However, when you roll in the alcohol - which is the perennial killer when eating out - it starts to become very expensive. Almost four figures for two diners is a lot and stops Story from getting five stars. I was a little disappointed in terms of the ambience as my taste is for plush, snug and ornate. But if you like modern and you're not in one of the corners, you'll be fine.

    Excellent thinking across and within each dish. Service staff are attentive (perhaps a little hurried at times) but give the customer all the knowledge and care to be able to relax and enjoy the culinary journey. The music playlist includes 90’s tunes that I recognise and love, all in an ambience that is professional but not uptight or snooty. The only (slight) criticism on the one of the dish would be to review the addition of caviar with a fairly sweet and sour jus which kills the saltiness and rounded/fatty burst of flavour from the caviar. Having the executive chef come to the table and describe each dish is a core value-add which really adds to the fantastic atmosphere in the restaurant. 10 courses is not too much, well balanced, and good amount for 2h30 to 3h. Wine pairing would be too much in my view (and even a shame unless the sommelier reviews it down to fewer than a glass per dish. 10 glasses, means nearly a bottle and a half per guest with 100ml glasses!)

    Is a very interesting experience that I think you should save for a special occasion. The service is impecable and the personal very attentive and pleasant. They only have a blind tasting menu with some interesting choices. If you are a picky either this place is not for you. The food presentation is well put visually and most of the flavors are well combined. At the end it is a lot of food. The price is heafty and personally think that if you view it not as an experience you will find it expensive for.what it is. They even charge you for the still water. Overall worth doing at least once.

    WOW! What a fantastic evening. Service is impeccable and we all were made to feel so welcome, thank you! The menu is outstanding, creative and delicious. We had the drinks pairing and that to was wonderful and really complimented each course perfectly. Lovely to also be able to enjoy a few cocktails after dinner and not feel rushed to leave. Thank you everyone for giving us a night to remember.
