Wonderful food, reasonably priced. Short staffed for a Sunday brunch but it looked like all pitched in and kept smiling.
1. Had no mussels
2. If they had had mussels the order does not come with bread (extra)
3. Ordered bread. Very ordinary. Disappointing for a French "Gourmet" Bistro.
4. Carrot soup was good but the portion was very small. Could be brought out hotter. Actually asked to make sure it was brought out hot. Tepid is what I got.
5. The crepe special is underwhelming. They use a buckwheat batter that did nothing for me. The ham and cheese was just there. Looked like something someone just learning to cook might make.
Restaurants in general are disappointing now a days. It is as if no one at the restaurant actual tastes their own food.
Truth - I can hardly cook. But what I can do I am very proud of. I make it and good Wow! Thank you God.
The description online of this restaurant was amazing. It gave the impression of a neat French Bistro with a video interviewing their two french chefs, one in French, fabulous food pics, couldn't wait to go.
I must first say that the hostess and server were faultless. Very sweet and have nothing to do with this review.
The place looks like a diner, booths al over, 0 ambiance and was empty with only 3 tables including us occupied! This was 8.15 on a Saturday night!!
The wine list is smaller then the online showed, which wasn't big to begin with. 4 Red and 3 or 4 whites.
The food was ok, we ordered the duck confit, very fatty. We got the ratatouille side instead of the roasted potatoes which I thought was not edible. How can you spoil a ratatouille?
Maybe if people actually ate there on a Saturday night it would have had a better atmosphere but we will never go back. They should however remove their online description of what seemed like a hidden jewel!
The restaurant was clean and the service was good. We appreciated the quietness to converse easily. Half the table ordered the duck confit and were very happy with their choice. The salmon was dry and a bit over cooked for my taste. The French onion soup was not authentic in that a small serving of grated mozzarella cheese was served on the side with two toast crisp to put in the soup. The creme brûlée was outstanding and probably one of the best I’ve ever had even after having lived in Paris for sometime.
Great!! So yummy and sweet staff!
Nice Brunch menu. Good pastries and coffee. Good service. Pleasant wait staff
The food was fabulous, well presented and creative. We had: the Croque Monsieur, the ham & cheese crepe (not your usual crepe), caprese salad with carrot soup, and La Provencale. Some of the lunch dishes come with a salad on the plate, so make sure and clarify so you do not also order a side salad. Hope they do really well and stay around!
The atmosphere was very quiet and relaxed. The food was good but ordinary. It was not a meal that I would rave about. I was looking to order a quiche, in a French restaurant, and they had run out of quiche. I thought this was a little odd. The service was poor. Our waitress took a long time before coming over to take our drink order. Throughout our meal, she was very inattentive and rarely came to check on us. This is an ok restaurant that I would not go out of my way to go back to.
I went here for brunch and everything was tasty. They were out of what I wanted (quiche Lorraine)...I’m assuming that’s very popular.
The staff is wonderful and who doesn’t love bottomless mimosas.
I’m excited to try this place again.
We both had the beef bourguignon and it was terrific. We had chocolate croissants for desert and they were very good, too. We will go back.
What a hidden gem! Began with a glass of Chardonnay and escargot, followed with the duck, finishing with the crepes - and each course was absolutely AMAZING!!! Very fresh and flavorful food. AND they have SUPERB macaroons ❤️
This restaurant reminded me of Paris
Nice place and delicious food. The crepes are amazing. Will be going back there soon!
Our first time in: Weekday lunch - A great variety of French favorites! It was hard to pick a starting point, but we started with two classics that are so familiar it takes a chef with courage be confident of comparison (beef bourguignon and crepe Parisienne). Both were beautiful, delicious, and felt "so French" we wished we had soft accordion music to complete the scene. The wine selection is mostly French and the list is perfectly trimmed to nice selections for a bistro. The French Bordeaux and Chardonnay were great matches for the food and, like all the selections on the list, reasonably priced.
We think we have found a new "go to" spot and look forward to working our way through the menus.
One of the best brunches in town. The omelette and quiche had a french touch for sure. Amazing taste!
We waited 1/2 for a cup of coffee and bread basket. We waited 45 minutes for our meal to be served. The water glass had lipstick on it when it was placed on our table. They were out of decaf coffee and cream. We ordered omelets and they were delicious. We did get an apology from the manager and our waitress for the long wait. If you go plan to wait. We may try again, but not for a while.
no, service was poor , food poor - will not go there again. They do not seem to know what they are doing It was mother's day so perhaps we caught them at their worst
What a train wreck. Our server really tried and was embarrassed to the point of crying. First, our drinks never came, we had to go ask about them. Our food all came at different times, and much later than other tables seated after us. My mother’s never came, we complained to the owner/manager/hostess and told her to take it off. She then reappeared with my mother’s very cold crepe. She told us that one of the crepe stations was broken and gave a very begrudgingly insincere apology. Very sad as we had high expectations after reading the reviews. Saw several other tables having to complain as well. We won’t be back.
This was the worst service we ever encountered for Mother's Day. They forgot my husbands breakfast. Then came back and made it three times. The waitress was mediocre at best. Waited 20 minutes for the bill as she seemed not to care. Can say we will not be back.
We went on Mother's Day - first time here. You would think that at the very least the staff would wish my wife, a mother clearly with her 2 kids a "Happy Mothers Day". Nope, not once, not the owner/Mgr, not the hostess nor our server. That alone might have taken the sting out of the bad service we had this morning. Our party of 4 seated, only 2 sets of silverware. Had to ask/beg to get 3 more times. Water glass with huge chip on rim replaced with barely an apology. 3 of 4 meals served and eaten before the 4th meal came (my wife's crepe). The food was OK - omelettes nothing special and side potatoes were cold! The explanation was crepes take longer than other meals. WTH? How about you place your orders at staggered times or maybe manage your kitchen so that meals arrive at a table together so that families can eat together! Again, we had to re-request for coffee creamer and side item multiple times. Train your staff! Then the bill comes with extra charges for a 5th meal we did not order. Wow! Thanks for making my wife's mothers day breakfast a memorable one. The people next to us were going through the same ! We will not be returning.
We went for Mother’s Day Brunch. The food was excellent and the service was good.
My family loves French food, so we really wanted to try this restaurant. I will start by saying that our food was delicious. But we did have to wait over ten minutes for someone to come to our table to greet us and offer us something to drink. We ordered wine. The waitress did not know how to open the wine bottle, so my husband had to show her how to use the corkscrew. We ordered the cheese plate as an appetizer. It included some great cheeses and the baguette was fresh and crispy. The problem is that when we asked the waitress to tell us the names of the cheeses, she had no clue at all. Usually when a cheese plate or charcuterie is delivered, the server will let you know what is on the plate. For entrees, we had the Magret de Canard and Boeuf Bourguignon. Both were very very good. No complaints at all about the food. But I really do wish that the waitress would get some training on the menu items and how to serve wine. Perhaps she is new or has never been a server before.
I will definitely visit again because I really did enjoy my food.
Cesar salad tasty. bread service $2.00 nice warm sliced baquette. ribeye tender and tasty. fries hot and crunchy. salmon good. strawberry tart and eclair baked off premises good. will try it again in future.
Pretty good environment, except food wasn’t that good.
Katie, our server was wonderful. Looking forward to going back and trying more of this cuisine. The Provençal Crepe was delicious, as was the Crepe Suzette!
Service was a bit on the slow side, fortunately we weren’t in a hurry. Croque Madame was good, onion soup was not (barely warm to melt the cheese that was served on the side (?), as well as the baguette slices, which were so stale, they never got soggy enough to blend with the soup & remained very chewy). Coffee, water & iced tea refills were almost inexistent. Would give it another try/chance.....but rare family reunion like this one was meant to be memorable. Not this time.
Absolutely wonderful! We were a group of five giving a thank you lunch to a friend who sought out this new, to us, French restaurant. The entrees of Boeuf Bourguignon, classic crepe, supreme Poulet were excellent and well presented. And, of course, we had to top it all off with shared lemon curd and banana split dessert crepes. It was a noon lunch and early for most diners but it began to fill both inside and out on the pretty patio by the time we left. My next trip will be to have the onion soup again, and try the Moules Marinieres (mussels).
My salad came after the other guests had finished theirs. The duck confit was only so-so with no orange sauce which the sever did not know what I was talking about. Desert crepe was delicious. Therefor a very simple meal.
French Gourmet serves deconstructed crepes which was a pleasant surprise.
We enjoyed the live guitar music during dinner.
Definitely will go again!
Looks like a cafe on the inside with servers who are inexperienced & poorly trained. 1 girl was playing with her while texting & we witnessed another wipe her nose. If you are going to charge these prices then put some linens on the tables, hire professional servers dressed in 1/2 aprons, get rid of the tvs. The place will surly close because on a Friday night there were only 3 tables filled. It appears that the owner doesn’t know whether it should be a cafe or a nice restaurant. For instance, the servers came from Red Lobster, well the same people who dine @ Red Lobster don’t eat @ Ruth’s Chris
Apparently this restaurant only recently converted from a creperie, and it seems to still be working out some of the kinks. The food was very good and the menu offers a number of interesting choices. We had just begun eating our salads when the entrees were delivered. The ambiance could be improved with different lighting.
Went on Valentine’s Day with my fiancé. Waited over 5 min to be seated despite having a reservation. Waited another 5+ min for service until a waitress finally asked if we had been helped. Food was less than mediocre. Calamari appeared as if it was overly breaded as if it came from the frozen food section. Mussels were lackluster in a bland sauce and came with fries that were bought from same frozen food section. Chicken was over cooked and mushroom sauce lacked mushrooms and flavor. We couldn’t even talk ourselves into a crepe dessert. Waitress disappeared and another employee cashed us out. Neither of us will visit this establishment again.
Nothing was good except for accordion player who was fabulous.
We always enjoy the French Gourmet Bistro for lunch, and our Valentine’s Day dinner was also a delight! The crepe and special entree selections were expertly prepared. How great having an authentic French cafe experience so conveniently located and so reasonably priced.
Really enjoyed it. The only suggestion to improve might be a more comprehensive wine list with a better selection of French wine.
Food was just OK for the price. We had wine and the pour was a little stingy.
