Fishing With Dynamite
What Insiders Are Saying
We don't use the term "destination restaurant" lightly. But the seafood at Manhattan Beach's Fishing With Dynamite more than fits the bill.
Overall, a wonderful meal and experience. The broth on the mussels was delicious. Music a little loud; made it difficult for conversation. Casey did a wonderful job as our server, and Taylor did a marvelous job both inside and out attending to all, whether or not seating was available. Great job both.
Excellent service with a personal touch. The music is upbeat. The food was excellent. The crab cake with a spiced sauce paired well with the dill cabbage-superb taste!
Simply the best seafood place in SoCal.
Pro tip - save room for the key lime pie.
Man, if you love seafood, this cramped submarine in MB is for you!! So I pretty much ate the entire Queen Mary shellfish tower myself. Each and every dipping sauce like eight of them were all spectacular to complement the Pacific Coast raw oysters, scallops ceviche, mussels, King Crab, and Maine lobster. They offered two local brews from Gardena, Two Coast Hefeweizen and Ximix Helles Lager. Both paired fantastically with the raw stuff!! Also enjoyed the Hamachi sashimi, steamed mussels, lump crane cake, and Koshihikari rice bowl with raw egg....YUM!!! Neptune would be proud of Michelle V. who served the two of us. It ain’t cheap but you definitely get what you pay for at FwD.......
Amazing quality ingredients, but very pricey
A great meal. Ken and Michele were great, the drinks were great and the food was amazing.
Found this little gem in an article somewhere. Gave it a go and man did they deliver. Food was insanely good. Fresh. Crisp and inventive. Give it a go. You won’t regret it
Sometimes they are running behind schedule, but it’s worth the wait!!
Absolutely Perfect! Great staff, no complaints!
Best restaurant in town. We eat hear regularly. Never disappointed
Fantastic experience! The service & advice from the waitress was great! The oysters are beautifully presented & were among the best quality & best tasting I’ve ever had!
The food is of outstanding quality!
Fabulous food in a friendly trendy environment. Very difficult to carry on a conversation due to the amped up playlist.
Small quaint and cute- even though we had a reservation we had to wait, but the staff was extremely apologetic! They even gave us a free appetizer while we were sitting outside. The staff helped us navigate the menu and gave plenty of suggestions. The food was amazing and so were the drinks. Overall, great experience!
Loved it. Just my tempo and great food.
We are locals & FWD is our absolute favorite spot for our date night. Love everything about this special place 💕
Had a great experience - nice casual restaurant dining environment, really interesting and good food, exceptional service. Great bar with tremendous offerings in most all the important categories - beer, wine, and bourbon. Bartender was extremely knowledgeable and made for a great dining experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent service our waiter was the guy with bald head and beard.that also bartends..I didn't get his name but he was so accommodating. Food was outstanding..beer was delicious..Planning to go back real soon!
There is never anything better than this resto except it is HUGELY loud, alas. Otherwise it’s delicious, imaginative, amazing. I try to go on the late end of lunch but never dinner.
Birthday date with family.
Love this place. But have to keep an eye on my daughter. She will bankrupt me when eating their oysters.
Fantastic dineLA menu and value!!!!
I went to FWD a year ago and truly, truly love it; yet I didn't return until a year later because I remember how loud the music was and almost impossible to have a decent conversation with my friend. This time was the same again. I did mention to the server why the music has to be so loud and she did turn it down slightly. It didn't last more than 5 minutes. Someone else turned it up.
The restaurant is awfully small, the bartender is constantly mixing up cocktails, the phone rings constantly and with the music, it was just too much. I would gladly go there frequently because the food is GREAT but not with the deafening music and poor acoustics.
From the opening With our server Sophia to the cocktail and the awesome Dine LA lunch menu that included Raw Bar of oysters, shrimp and scallops to the entree Shrimp Po Boy and my Albacore topped off with best Key Lime Pie I’ve ever had.
Loved the entire experience and will be back!
Dinner for 2 on Sat night. Awesome food and service! The restaurant is small so you feel squished in the seating and prepare to share all of your conversation with your neighbors.
We had a great time as usual, very consistent, and we would go back again.
Food is good n service is okay, but wait too long for food and parking is limited and difficult. Be aware if the parking time since there will be penalties if over 1 or 2 hrs depending on what the signs says!
Our go-to for special occasion dinners. Never disappoints. Hamachi crudo is an all-timer for me.
My favorite lunch place ever!
Key lime pie
3 glasses of wine :Palomino, PN, and Cremant Rose
Everything was done with deliberation. Great plating, flavors eere well integrated, and service that was precise.
Space is small, and intimate.
Natalie was our server and she was knowledgeable, friendly and diligent. We ate oysters, grilled octopus, crab legs, kale salad and lobster. Everything was delicious but the lobster was bland. The vanilla buttermilk salad dressing was so delicious and tossing some mint in made this a delicious salad! Highly recommend!
Course menu was great, but the story here was the scallops and oysters *chef’s kiss*
After a slight delay in getting our resereved table we enjoyed a great meal. We tried the sampler seafood platter along with one entree per person. The winning dishes were the fish and chips, the oysters (Blue Devils were the best) and the crab. Great sparkling rose as well. Friendly service once seated was also a huge plus. Definitely will be back!
Always fresh top quality seafood, wine and beer. The DineLA menu offered a great selection for Lunch.
I love this place. Food is always so delicious!! Their Dine LA lunch is a huge favorite!!!
The biggest problem with lunch here is parking. It took us 50 minutes to find a parking space. The customers next to us spent 35 minutes to find a parking space, and it was a 24-minute parking space. They kept fidgeting and ran out to pay for the parking space again during their lunch.
I like blue crab cake very much, It's soft. The dessert Key lime Parfait looks good. But it Is a little sweetness for me. The music is too noisy, maybe the space of this restaurant is relatively small. They hope that the diners will leave as fast as they finish eating.
This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan Beach! I’m a huge fan of the himachi, clam chowder, and key lime pie. Everything is so tasty!!
Great service, great food and great atmosphere! The clam chowder and bread pudding desert were both amazing, along with the wide selection of seafood.
