What Insiders Are Saying
Stoneburner is an Italian-American spot in Ballard with good neapolitan pizza and decent everything else, though the pastas are a crap shoot.
Food & service were fine, but the noise level was excessive and spoiled the ability to enjoy conversation.
Great assortment of foods. Fantastic table.
Food was excellent but pricey. Very noisy table next to us had screaming children. Not restaurants fault but we requested another and none were available. By the way, the fried olives were fabulous!!
Really disappointed with the level of service. We had a reservation for 7 people and our table wasn’t ready when we came in (o time). 20 minutes later we were sitting at a table with no menus, water or waiter. I had to ask the strangely non responsive host for all this stuff. No explanation of what was going on, no apology, the stuff was just dropped in front of us. Waitress comes five minutes later and again no apology, no explanation. First courses came before our drinks arrived. Just frustrating. For the price you pay, service should at least be competent. Food lacked depth of flavor - the meaty dishes were greasy. Menu itself is appealing and the ambiance is good. I liked that there was no loud music playing.
New to Seattle and I think this may be our go to place!!!
The seasonal selections are always spot on with great flavors and freshness. Nothing better on a warm Summer evening with the open air atmosphere.
Very small portions
Great experience celebrating a birthday! I could eat that meat and cheese plate everyday!!
The bathroom is not very clean, there’s no napkins in the bathroom. The sparking water is expensive plus each refill is 50 cents. The food was not great.
Travelled to see family in Seattle from Nor California. We had brunch at an interesting table seated close to open window which had a nice breeze. Our waiter was darling and explained each menu choice with flair! Started with the speciality cinnamon roll to share. Delicious!! We had avocado toasted with perfect poached eggs and salad, Turkish poached eggs with flatbread and herbed yogurt (fan fave!) and two eggs with pecorino crispy potatoes and thick cut toast. We also had mimosas and lattes. Really enjoyed our food and waiter. Two thumbs up!! Will be back!!
Excellent vibes !
Our servers were both excellent and tolerated our jokes. They were both knowledgeable of the menu and truly made our experience great. I only gave 4 stars because of the host that seated us. He said he had a table for us but that we would have to leave by 7:30pm because there is another party that would be sitting at that table. I thought that was NOT very welcoming and very unprofessional! Portions were quite small for the price but all our food tasted good.
The service was pretty subpar on my last visit. I took a friend for her birthday because I told her how great the service, food and ambience was. And the service from the bar to the waitress to the host was really lacking. Very amateur and not what I was expecting especially for the price point. It was pretty cold — not like the warm reception I’ve had in the past. Usually wait staff are really friendly. Don’t think our waitress smiled once. And we had about six different people wait in us so it was really unclear who to ask for items, which actually seemed to offend the staff. The bartender kept telling me to talk to the host about what I needed and I would expect the staff to do that to provide seamless customer service. Or send the host over to me. Anyway. I’ll be back to give it another shot but it was my most disappointing visit and I’m a frequent customer.
Who would have ever thought of a breakfast pizza?! I'm a big 'cold pizza for breakfast fan,' but eggs on a pizza?! NUMBA 2!
We want another Number 2!
Four of us enjoyed a lovely brunch here. I've been for dinner several times, and their brunch menu did not disappoint. Something for everyone. My husband and our guests each had a pizza - one a breakfast pizza, and one more of a lunch/dinner option. Nice thin crusts, perfectly prepared, and fabulous. I enjoyed an egg dish which was fabulous, the eggs perfect, the potatoes crusty and delicious, and the bacon crispy. Also perfection portioned. Service was great. While our waiter wasn't exceptionally friendly, he was attentive, and helpful. Overall great experience.
Wait staff was friendly, but all were very young, fairly inexperienced. The staff positions seemed filled with summertime job applicants.
Food was generally good, but nothing that special. It was priced appropriately. Our dinner was not rushed.
It was a little disappointing that bread was not offered at the start of our experience, but rather had to be ordered as an appetizer.
Great stuff. All of the above. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quality dining experience.
It was a good place for a date! I’d recommend The charcuterie
Don is the best!
We love the good, and usually love the experience, at Stoneburner. Great flavor combos, great treatment of veggies, inventive without being self conscious about it.
Stoneburner is loud, and while the staff is as pleasant and accommodating as they can be, this is a real drawback. We choose early weekdays to help with this. Part of this is the hard surface interior which can’t be adjusted, but I would encourage management to be aware of music and it’s affect on the conversation environment.
While we often have good service, this wasn’t the case with this meal. Our waiter was unsmiling and disengaged. We ordered a range of veggies, pastas, and fish for our group. I forgot to say how we would like them staged and they came all at once...a really miss that allowed us to be hungry, and then eat cold fish. We had to get up to get our own check eventually.
Overall it’s a lovely place and we will come back.
Was very good
We always love it and you made my visiting family feel so special.
Don is the best!
It has been some time since we have had dinner in the restaurant, and lately have been in the bar with friends having cocktails and sharing plates. Traditionally, we have very good service and food. Unfortunately, this last Monday, we did not have a very good experience. We found the service to be a bit slower than what we're used to and the pizza we ordered was lukewarm and the crust was soggy. Additionally, a gentlemen next to us was drinking red wine, and his glass shattered sending shards of glass over to our seats and table, and red wine onto my daughters dress and my husbands pantsleg. While the staff worked to clean up around us, they didn't ask about our clothes or bring us new linen until we asked for it. Historically, we have had an excellent experience at Stoneburner, but Monday was just not their night. We will go back again for sure, but probably stick to happy hour in the bar.
The food and cocktails for brunch were outstanding!
This is one of my favorite spots for brunch. Great ambiance and price. My friends and I ordered a breakfast pizza, salad and the Dutch baby and split the items between us. It was more than enough food and incredible.
I've been here three times in three weeks. Menu is varied, shareable and well-priced. Fell in love with the Asparagus/quinoa with (Red Boat) fish sauce and had to come back with my husband. Excellent!
Great location, ambience, food and service. It’s one of our favorite places in Ballard. The tuna dip with sweet potato chips is fabulous!
Great service, great food, great environment. One of the best places in the city hands down. Definitely on our list of favorites!
Great group birthday dinner
Food as usual fantastic very good balance on the flavors excellent combination of ingredients,a pallet of flavor in the table every dish we ordered
We were there with a large group for a birthday and the whole experience was fantastic. Our server was extremely patient, attentive and kind. Food was great and we never felt rushed.
The pizza was great, thin crust, perfect texture, beautifully done. The pasta dishes were equally fine!
Great place to grab brunch and then walk around the area. Sunday has the farmer's market just down the road. The food was excellent, and we absolutely loved the Turkish Eggs.
We picked this on a spur of the moment, where should we go for our anniversary. We we're very pleased great food, impeccable service, and an all around great meal.
Celebrated my 35th birthday here with my husband and it was the perfect low key evening out. The windows were open and the temperature and ambiance of the whole place was very lively for a Wednesday night. My husband told our server, Rachel, that it was my birthday who immediately brought over some bubbles to celebrate. Our experience at Stoneburner is that the food consistently is high quality and decadent - this visit continued that trend. We had grilled ciabatta bread and ricotta cheese, gem lettuce salad, beautifully made tortellini, and a pepperoni pizza. Book now!
Bravo to Jonathan, the sommelier. He is knowledgable, friendly and helpful. His recommendations were excellent. We love your fresh halibut.
Last booth near the kitchen not the best seat in the house. My seat was vibrating each time the bar was using thei blender :(. Service was a bit slow this time too. Meal was tasty but too salty and portion on the conservative side. Had great experiences there before so I will definitely go back.
Greasy, expensive food. Service was so/so. I don’t recommend
