Alden and Harlow
While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated. So please, come on in!
Parties of more than 8, please call to make a reservation.
Fantastic flavors and presentation of food. Great wine list. We come here regularly and are never disappointed.
Collin was an amazing and very friendly server. The food was absolutely fantastic as well.
Delicious food ; lively and warm atmosphere ; amicable staff. Would recommend !
Pricy, but worth the cost. Very tasty food, I loved the carrots. The staff did well to bring our the small plates in an order that worked great for the palate. Wonderful place for a special meal.
I was surprised at how bad of an experience this was given the potential when you look at the menu items. I actually think this was the worst restaurant I’ve been to this year. To be fair, 2 out of the 5 dishes we ordered were good. We had to send the broccoli dish back because it was charred beyond an edible state and we couldn’t chew through it. We had to send the kale salad back because I kept picking out pistachio shells and didn’t want to break a tooth. We ordered the Romano bean dish as a finale and gave up... you got a kick from the peppers, but no real flavor. The diet cokes were served warm and without any carbonation... It was just really bad. Go to Parsnip, or the Indian place around the corner.
The service was great and the food was very good - just quite expensive
Always a wonderful experience. The patio is great if the weather is nice
Eating on the patio was very nice and chilled. Great vibe!
Food was outstanding!
Service was great - they had no issue re-doing a drink for me which I very much appreciated. Food was delicious!
Only issue was that the AC was a bit weak on a summer night and the place was a bit stuffy and hot.
This is one of my favorite spots for small plates and good drinks. Service is always great and the ambience is awesome. It is pricey, but worth the splurge.
The food was even better than expected. We had an early dinner and every dish was excellent. The beer selection was also very good. The servers were very attentive and did not hesitate to answer any questions.
The food at Alden and Harlow is always amazing!! We loved the honey carrots, charred brocolli, chickpea waffles with burrata and burger. The seeded sourdough was underwhelming and the pot belly was just ok. Overall we always enjoy the food. I have to say the level of service is really dependent on your server. Last visit (on Mothers Day) we had a fabulous server who was great with recommendations and super friendly, this time our server was pleasant but did the bare minimum - no complaints. We will be back!
Wonderful experience all around. Unique and delicious menu. Some lighter, simpler drinks might be a nice addition.
We went on a pretty evening and sat outside which was quite nice. Had an assortment of little plates and all good, some outstanding. Great lamb belly, good green beans in savory preparation, and good wine and drink choices. Longfellow Bar which is in same location also very good. Would definitely go again and food at Longfellow looks similarly interesting.
Love this place. Everything is delicious. Impressive wine list.
Was pleasantly surprised; eclectic menu and very knowledgeable server. Had 5 small plates between 2 people. Loved the chick pea waffle, chicken thighs and kale salad most. Great bottle of wine on per glass menu, made available to us by the bottle. Asked to be seated in area to be able carry on a conversation which was also accommodated. I woud go back!
Great choice for brunch. Waiter recommended ~6 dishes for a group of 4, but we ordered only 4 and that was plenty.
Great food, great service. Variety of items, always changing, always delicious. Worth it!
The food, drinks and service was excellent. We enjoyed the Clams, Rabbit, Corn pancakes, Steak entree, lamb belly dishes and a cocktail with Kiwi - all delicious. The lighting was very minimal and so we couldn’t see what’s in the dish or how it actually looks. It was frustrating to have to use the flashlight app in my phone to see how a sauce looks or what the different ingredients in a salad are.
Service was really bad. Waitress messed up our order and had to wait forever for someone to come back and ask if I wanted another glass of wine.
Would totally recommend this restaurant - small plates that you can share with your friends and family which allow you to taste many of the interesting dishes. Right in the heart of Harvard Square and the services was terrific. The only caveat is that some of the seating is very dark -- so bring your phone so that you can read the menu ;-).
I have seen other reviewers say the portions are too small. What?! The waitress tells you they are smaller (appetizer size), sharable dishes. She recommended that we order two dishes per person and actually it was way too much. We would have eaten quite well with 4 or 5 dishes. The chicken torchon is super succulent. We also like the charred broccoli and fried Brussel sprouts--both very yummy even if you are not a veggie person. If you like salads and lighter food, this probably not the place for you. Most dishes are on the heavier side. The food is cooked really well and the presentation is elegant.
everytime I come here I feel so welcomed. The food is incredible and always is delicious.
Absolutely incredible meal with a creative menu and delicious cocktails. We had excellent service. One of the best meals I've had in Boston!
The amount of oil in our veggies was way way to much- just not good. Prior has been a few times. Will go back in September for one more try.
Best burger in Boston so far...
Always good when I come, and I always bring new friends to introduce them! Burgers are BOMB :)
We had a very enjoyable lunch, so if I have very pleasant person. Very well informed and very accommodating. Despite coming in almost at closing time at lunchtime, she was still able to prepare some amazing dishes and even another dish afterwards. Great service, great food, and excellent if you are a vegan
Alden and Harlow is a good spot, not great. Some of the food is unique and worth the high price point, but others (such as the burger) are good, yet standard. If you are seated in the back area, the sound really bounces and it's hard to carry a conversation. I would recommend sitting in the front under the windows.
We had an excellent dinner on a Friday night. The service was great - friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. We shared several small plates and each was beautifully presented and flavored in unusual and delicious ways. If I have one very small criticism it is that the burrata was fine but not memorable, although the chickpea waffle it was served on was awesome. We will definitely be back!
All good but deafening loud. Actually we were screaming to be heard.
Delicious! Dishes were unique, with every little detail exquisitely flavored. Awesome service too!
Our server was good and very helpful. However, we found the portions small and the prices high.
Wonderful service. Delicious food and drink. What else could you ask for?
Excellent food and service. Love the ambiance. We ate there for Sunday brunch.
Great evening out. Enjoyed the food and the friendly staff.
I'll preface this by saying - I am not one of those people who gushes over everything...but I absolutely have to gush about this place. Had one of the best meals of my life there this past Saturday. Everything was absolutely exceptional, from the food to the cocktails to the service to the décor. Each dish and cocktail was even better than the last. Such a lovely experience - I can't recommend it enough!
My favorite restaurant in Boston!
This was our first dining experience at Alden & Harlow, and it will NOT be our last. Everything was delicious and our server was outstanding. Attentive but not intrusive. The corm pancakes are to die for.
