What Insiders Are Saying
It's summer year round at Summer House Santa Monica. Don your finest Lululemon and chambray in an upscale dining environment.
Uncooked chicken wings! And even after the dish was returned the charged it to the bill. Cobb salad also with uncooked chicken and rock hard bacon. Tuna poke on the ungenerous portion. Clearly a trendy and fun place. However food experience was terrible.
Our waitress was really great, very patient explaining items. The food was all fresh and healthy and done to perfection. Salmon and eggs on different salads cooked perfectly - medium rare. Can't wait to go back.
Waiter was awesome. Even though after 2:00, our food delivery was slow. All good, just glad we were not limited on time.
Service was great food too!vLove the setting and it is very popular...make a reservation!
It was good, but our food came out warm. It wasn’t hot, it was warm. We got the spinach artichoke dip and it was hot on the edges but warm in the center. I got the gnocchi and it was good, but again it was warm. I didn’t bother saying anything to mgmt because all they would do is give away free cookies. I’ll probably be back but this wasn’t the best visit.
Fun, beach atmosphere with excellent service. Food was delicious and portions were generous. Our waitress even split all the dishes we were sharing for us. Would definitely recommend.
So perfect to celebrate a summer birthday on a beautiful Chicago night! Service was excellent, with a friendly attentive server and food was too delish! Very caring to bring a special birthday treat for the birthday girl... A meal we won't forget!
This was our first visit and it will definitely NOT be the last!
Enjoyed our lunch and Tony was exceptional.
Fantastic! Will definitely return!!
Food was amazing, service was great and the restaurant itself has such a cool atmosphere. Highly recommend!
The staff was very attentive to the dietary needs of our party (Celiac disease). We were celebrating my husband's birthday and they even brought out a complimentary gluten-free dessert for us to split, which was a lovely touch. We will continue to come back for the friendly ambiance, the open-air seating, the great gluten-free menu, and the delicious food.
I enjoyed the decor and ambiance of Summerhouse. Granted, I was here on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy but I felt that the food was average. We ordered an avocado toast with eggs and added salmon on to it. The egss and toast arrived almost 10 minutes before the salmon.
The staff did not seem very concerned when I let them know. I think the kitchen needs tweaking!
Our party had a great time. The chirping birds added to the ambiance, it was wonderful!
We LOVED the service and vibe, and I would be willing to try it again. The summery, outdoor feel of the space was wonderful and fun. We had the weekend brunch (eggs, hash browns and bacon) and it was meh. Nothing special for sure, and we've had better at a couple high end breakfast spots in the city and burbs. We're both grain-free, and in lieu of toast our waiter offered us a bowl of beautiful in-season fruit that was delicious. The service is outstanding, but might like to go back for something during the week.
Beautiful restaurant! Perfect for our girls weekend brunch. Amazing food. Can’t wait to go back!
Perfect for bachelorette party!
It is a beautiful restaurant but way too pricey for the quality and quantity of the food. Poor consistency.
One of my table mates and I ordered the same cavatelli lobster pasta. Portion was small and mine contained one small piece of lobster for $23.95. My friend at least had 3 or 4 pieces of lobster. Otherwise it was small pasta with sauce...nothing special and way overpriced.
Our waitress was incredible, what a great service!!! The burrata was delicious, however my poke didn’t taste good. It had A LOT of cilantro and it was overpowering the rest of the dish. So I felt I was eating raw cilantro only! It was hard for me to find the overall taste of the poke. But the drinks were delicious and the cookies too.
Service was great but not fast
Make sure you have time when you go
Great local spot. Went with a girlfriend while visiting Chicago for a few days.
Loved the restaurant set up and the decor was on point. Only complaint was the gnocchi was over cooked and cold. Other than that it was great dinner.
We were three women who enjoyed lunch before seeing a play at Steppenwolf. The restaurant is lovely with excellent food and service!
Apps were great, order fish tacos and my girlfriend had the salmon. Both were saturated in salt and butter like Fridays. Was disappointed considering that I used to live in Santa Monica and have been to the original many times...which was always great.
Food great, service great atmosphere great as always!!
Energetic atmosphere, beautiful space. Food is solid but not "special." They served our appetizers at the same time as our entrees but the staff was helpful and very nice,
Great experience for an engagement dinner on a warm day
Service was not as attentive as in the past which was disappointing
We have been coming here for years now. This time was for brunch and I tried eggs Benedict and I did not like it! English Muffin was frozen then heather up and after it cooled off a bit it was so hard you couldn’t cut it with the knife. I was so disappointed. Otherwise I love food here, but this time was disappointing.
Bakery items are a must, and the coffee is great. Food is average, very hit or miss.
Once again we had a wonderful time celebrating a friend's birthday at the restaurant! The food was great, the service from Natalia was wonderful and we love the atmosphere. About our only concern is how expensive the wine is compared to other Lettuce restaurants we have been to - and there are many we love. Thanks again for a great and relaxing time. Tim
The food was fair, but missing acid or salt. The entrees were over priced. There were many employees working, but our waitress was semi attentive and almost dismissive when we paid for a portion of our bill with gift cards. I do not plan on returning.
The food was really good! Our server was very knowledgeable and suggested some great desserts. It was our anniversary and they brought out a complimentary dessert, which was so thoughtful!!
It’s really cute and chic! I did expect more food options. The prices are a little expensive but it’s worth the experience.
Great place for a late lunch/brunch! Beautiful space
Great food and drinks! Beautiful place that makes you feel like you’re in Santa Monica.
It was a little louder than I expected so that is why I gave the 4 stars but I would still return.
Loved it! This is one of my new favorite restaurants. Great menu, great ambiance, and great service.
Favorite place for brunch!
The food and service was great. But we waited over 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated.
The ambiance was great but the waitress didn’t know the menu whatsoever. The food was overcooked and WAYYYY too over priced for the portions.
Ambience was amazing. Appetizers were great. Service was not the best. And unfortunately, we had a hair in our food which I understand can happen but didn’t expect it here. If service was fantastic then it would have been easier to look beyond.
Had a great lunch with my dear friend Great food set and beverages.
