Nico Osteria’s house-made pastas and fresh seafood are perfectly suited for the setting’s rustic elegance.
Salone Nico is a welcoming space, celebrating the European tradition of afternoon aperitifs and craft cocktails. The wine list features producers from Italy and Greece, as well as grower champagne. Grab a cocktail, sneak in a light bite or settle in for a night cap at Salone Nico.
We invite guests to contact us by phone for last-minute reservations or those hoping to reserve seats at the Chef’s Counter overlooking our open kitchen in the main dining room.
Everything I had here was so so good! Will definitely come back in future trips to Chicago.
It was a great dinner.. Just wish they had a bigger menu! Lobster spaghetti was amazing, as was the Brussels sprouts and the meatballs! We would definitely come here again.
Truly exceptional and creative food and service that made us feel like VIPs.
Food was too trendy and a little odd. Was hoping it was more of a traditional Italian restaurant. A little disappointed.
We have been eating at Nico at least 2 or 3 times a week since it opened. I am so sorry Donnie and his group left. The service is now terrible. The food is terrible. One of the best restaurants in town is gone!!!! We live in the neighborhood and are so sad ! Even though our dinner was nicely comped which I didn’t want to accept but the manager insisted. We’re just so so sad to have lost the restaurant that everyone loved .!!!!
It was very good, but nothing to write home about.. the menu could use some improvement.
We had beef carpaccio (was good, not great) should’ve gotten a crudo. The roasted broccoli was amazing and enough to split. We also had the orchiette with tuna sausage it was AMAZING!!! The pasta was cooked perfectly! For dessert we had the panna cotta it was an amazing combination of granita and custard and berries! FANTASTIC!
The food was served cold. The service was poor. Even though the restaurant was empty, they couldn’t get it right. Felt like a less than average place. Will never go back and definitely will not recommend.
What could beat an outdoor table at Nico Osteria on a beautiful Saturday evening? The food offering is world class delicious, yet healthy choices are abundant like the poached halibut that I selected. Moreover, the people watching is superb.
Server was especially helpful! Nice atmosphere and comfortable temperature...👏
The waitress was terrible, so put out.
Good place to meet for brunch.
Thought that $15.00 for 1 piece of bruschetta was pricey compared to the entrée pasta for $15.00.
Been here a bunch and loved it but the food was off point last night. Know they changed chefs...crudo lineup was much better under previous chef. Octopus was swimming in oil last night. Tuna Orecchiette was great as usual.
Nice food. Amateur set up and staff.
We enjoyed a nice early dinner on the outside patio and appreciate that our request for sitting outside was able to be fulfilled. Our service was prompt and friendly. The Brussels sprouts bruschetta was good, but would have liked more Brussels sprouts. The bolognese was delicious as was the broccoli side dish. There were nice options for wines by the glass as well. I definitely recommend Nico and we will be back.
Was disappointed that both the entree and dessert I wanted after looking at the menu on the Open Table app were not actually on the menu at the restaurant-the cacio y pepi pasta listed truffle which is a pretty standard ingredient at authentic Italian restaurants but wasn’t actually an ingredient and the restaurant had no truffle in any item and there was a rhubarb budino listed but no budino on the actual menu. Both huge disappointments. Brussels sprouts bruschetta was great, but the rest of the food was very mediocre. The prosciutto was unlike any other prosciutto I’ve had in that it was thick and kind of mushy/chewy and I didn’t care for it. The rigatoni was okay but nothing special. The orecchiette didn’t have much flavor. Didn’t have dessert because none appealed to us.
NICO was terrible. Our server was not attentive to us during dinner at all. He never once checked on us and we had to constantly ask for bread, water, wine list, etc. Our bus boy was very attentive and is deserving of becoming a server. The food definitely has deteriorated last I’ve been here. We had octopus, crab meat bruschetta, seabass, arc fish, two pasta dishes.
Honestly, I will never go back. It was a waste of 400.00. If I had to do it over again, we should have went across the street to Hugo’s/Gibsons’s !
We were celebrating a 50th Bday and they did not even acknowledge the celebrant despite me telling them quietly before the celebrant arrived. When it came time to order dessert the 4 of us decided not to continue the pain, so we asked for the check and had dessert elsewhere!
McDonalds blows Nico away. Very sad how Nico has become!!
We will never return!!! Ciao forever Nico!!! Time to close!!!!
Service was outstanding!
Very nice space.
Food was good, but just average. Nothing I would rush back for or recommend as a must go spot.
Outstanding food and service. Enjoyed the atmosphere and location
We had lunch at Nico Osteria recently and it was very good. Our waiter was excellent. I had a burger and my wife had the pasta. No complaints at all. We're looing to return in the near future when we're back in Chicago.
Great food, great service.
My reservation didn’t show up at the restaurant
Fabulous food and service. Loved this place. Order the Brussel sprouts and burrata!
The food is consistently delicious and fresh. Lovely evening dining al fresco.
Food was good but not outstanding for its reputation. We ordered the oysters, Brüssel sprout bruschetta, orchiette, and branzino.
the appetizer arrived one minute before the main meal . The main dishes besides being expensive , were bland-tasting . Ciopinno was served with out a dish on which to place the emptied shells. We ordered a bottle of wine which was not made accessible to us which meant we had to ask the waiter for refills.
Excellent meal, great ambiance and service. Will definitely go again and recommend.
Everyone felt the food was good. However, would have liked the whole Branzino to have a bit more flavor and more crispy.
Enjoyed r visit to Nico for the most part!
Very disappointed with r bread service which was
dry & not as delicious as I’ve had in past visits!
My fault for not sending it back!!
Love the Brussel Sprout Bruschetta!!!
Nico Osteria is one of my favorite places, food is always great. This last time we sat just outside the actual restaurant in more so the waiting area / hotel bar space and as a result it didn't have quite the same feel and the service suffered a bit as well. Still highly recommend!
We love bringing friends here. Always good service and delicious service. The guys were thrilled with the bourbon selection!
Simply a great restaurant to visit. Appetizers and mains are as creative as it gets and prepared perfectly every time. Our third visit and all three times sat at the appetizer bar watching the team work their magic. Love this place and the people who make it operate so well!!
My Atlantic Char was the greatest fish I had. The ambuance is superb and the crew were great. I would eat here each time I visit Chicago.
We started with fresh oysters and they were as advertised very fresh and served with a minced celery champagne vinegar mignonette. Our appetizer was over salted which is fast becoming a common occurrence with the use of coarse ground salt that hits the plate in higher concentrations in some areas and not others...so first bite SALT CITY, second bite fine, third bite REALLY SALTY....I give up. As I said this experience is not unique to Nico, but it needs to be address. (Truth in advertising we were reimbursed the cost of this appetizer). The pasta course, Cacio y Pepe, was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. However, the soft-shelled crab that we had for the main course was deep fried but had not been dredged in flour or batter therefore the overwhelming flavor of the dish was oil. It was served on a bed of Panzanella salad, unfortunately the already, oily delicate crab didn't benefit from the pairing or vice versa.
Brussel sprout bruschetta is a must get. Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs was divine.
cocktails and wine were good. food was below average. Waiter was awful. bus boys were attentive and very good
This restaurant is a must when visiting the Windy City!
From the moment we walked in and seated by the manager to every server who brought us outstanding dishes of memorable fresh flavors.
The food is phenomenal and the manager spoiled us with his favorite pasta dish to share. The freshly made pasta and even the gluten free pasta is made at the restaurant.
We ate at the best that Chicago has to offer, and this restaurant is by far the Shang Star!
